Everyday stud size, what do you think?

Hey, folks! I'm wondering if you might be able to weigh in and tell me if you think this size stone is appropriate for everyday wear. I've decided on a eight prong martini setting in platinum. But I'm concerned that might make these look too big. I got fancy with some double-sided tape and taped them on my ears – probably a cardinal sin- but I had a hard time seeing what they would look like without doing this. The picture isn't the best but I hope you get the idea of the size.

What do you think?

I think they’re perfect, but this is PS. Some ppl like 0.5ct in each ear, and others like 2ct+ in each ear. It also depends on your lobes. Wear with joy! Wear without fear!

I think they're perfect as long as it's comfortable. I went a bit too big and my ears are quite sensitive so 2cts was not comfortable for me.

I love the idea of wearing them "without fear"! I think part of me is afraid that people might judge me for the bling! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.:)

Thank you! Yeah I hope they will be comfortable! These are .68 each so 1.36 total. I have been told that the eight prong martini is very comfortable. We'll see! Fingers crossed. Thanks for your thoughts – did you ever find a size that was comfortable for you?

Aww I think they are the perfect size. To be honest we're all too self conscious about what others think. Truth is, unless they were into jewellery most people wouldn't notice. I think studs aren't for me. I prefer wearing huggies although recently I discovered these flat back/backless studs. I might try again in the future lol these might be a game changer haha.

The size looks great on you. I think the earrings will be perfect for daily wear - enough presence, but not overly big.

i would go bigger
i brought .25, .5 and 1 tcw (i have 3 pairs of peircings and not big ears) and the first two sizes are way too small, the 1tcw goes nicely in my middle piercing
diamond shrinkage syndrone is real

I have generous lobes so 2 CTW (1 carat per ear) is a good diameter, proportion-wise. However, I have .80 TCW (.40 carat per ear) set in a wider platinum bezel and I wear them all the time. I have a pair of beautiful fancy yellow lab diamond studs for sale on LoupeTroop (2.78 TCW) sadly because I feel they are too big on me.
For reference, I wear understated clothing in muted colors. There are many PS’ers that rock the big diamond studs fabulously. What matters the most is your opinion.

I've never heard of diamond shrinkage syndrome, but that's pretty funny. I think my concern is that they are too big, I don't think that I could go any bigger--at least not until I develop diamond shrinkage syndrome! I was just hoping they don't look too big for everyday! So, your input helps because it makes me think that these definitely don't look too big for me. Appreciate it! I'd love to see a photo of your trio!

Yeah, I have to keep in mind that it's not about what other people think. It's about what I'm comfortable with! But I've never had any diamond earrings or even fake diamond earrings so it's really a whole new world to me. I don't have much to compare it to and I've honestly never spent more than $50 on earrings, which probably is why I am seeking so much reassurance. I usually wear sterling silver ball studs or some kind of sterling silver dangly. This is totally new! Thanks so much for chiming in:)

I like that: presence! Perfect. Thank you.

well actually i lost the smallest one -down the drain in the bathroom basin
and i didnt even really feel sad
Diamond shrinkage syndrone i think is a PS thing but it also applies to pearls
unfortunatly it is real
why dont you buy some cheap CZ earrings to try on the sizes for a few days, lots of the ladies around here do that

If the stone is lined up with your piercing, I think they're a fantastic every-day size. Not too large, and not too small.

The stone is kind of lined up with my piercing but may be a little bit higher. However, I don't think the stone is so big that it would go over my ear or anything. I hope not!

I am highly allergic to most metals except platinum. Although if I happen to see any in Sterling silver I might! I do OK with Sterling.

I asked for lots of stud help here and ended up with 1.4ctw. I love them. I was SURE that DSS would never happen to me. But guess what?! It did! I have 2.2ctw studs that are just being finished now by DK!

@lucythedog Oh that's funny. That's nearly the size I am "starting" with! I will have 1.36ctw. And they seem like they are going to be ginormous in my eyes. Hopefully in a good way!

You could wear those anywhere with perfect confidence.

Proportional sweet spot. No worries.

The size looks like something I would wear all the time. Go for it and enjoy every minute you wear them.:kiss2:

Dropped the stones off with the jeweler today! Here's a picture of one of the stones just resting in the eight prong setting that I selected. So, the prongs will look so much be smaller and be shaved / polished down once the stone is actually set! Sneak preview, but image tiny prongs!
