Ok. I thought there was a 30 day RETURN policy on my wedding ring, and it turns out there is a 30 day EXCHANGE policy...

My problem is this: I bought an eternity band for a wedding ring two weeks ago. It’s not flat! When I sit it on a flat surface, only one side touches and the other one is up in the air. Do I have a good case for a return, even though the policy is for exchanges? I got a REALLY good deal on this only because it was an in-stock ring, and I hate the whole being confined to an exchange because then you have no room to negotiate on price for something else...

Opinions anyone?? At this rate, I''m going to have 6 wedding bands before the wedding (I already have another that is non-returnable that didn''t look right with my e-ring) I have a problem...

If you feel comfortable having them fix it, then it sounds like something they could do easily (or more likely, remake the setting). The only upside there is to exchanging it vs. returning it is the fact that it sounds like you got a good deal on the ring, so if you were to go elsewhere, you''d end up spending more.

I do think you have a case for returning the ring altogether, even if the policy states that only honor exchanges. First, the ring is obviously damaged. Second, this wasn''t a custom order. The ring was already in stock, so that should give you some leverage.

I bought my eternity band from a local B&M because I felt they had the most competitive price. When I got the band back I saw that it had been made in the wrong size and also in white gold instead of platinum. At this point I did not trust the quality of the ring and wanted a refund, but because my ring was considered custom, they would only exchange it. They refused to refund my money and stated that they could make my ring as I''d ordered it, so there was no reason for a refund. They remade it, but now I am just not happy with the ring at all. I really, really wish I''d pushed harder for a refund and gotten a whiteflash eternity band instead--now I am literally stuck with this ring and it''s not even like I can exchange it because it''s too sentimental.

This is your wedding band, it should be something you love because you will be wearing it every day. If you feel that the quality will bug you or that it''s not exactly what you want, resolve it ASAP.

Hi nclr, I think you have grounds for refund based on the workmanship (or lack thereof) of the band. If you really love the ring, maybe they can make another one for you for no extra charge. Did you pay for the band using a credit card? If so, you can dispute the charges. I''m pretty sure American Express has a policy on their gold card (I think) that they will take back any item a store won''t within 90 days of purhcase.

If the ring is “flimsy” enough to get bent in the jeweler’s case (it’s been in the box since I got it, so it had to have gotten bent before then) I don’t have enough confidence in this design to think that it will withstand everyday wear for the rest of my life. I’d really rather spend more for a quality product.

The only thing keeping me from definitely trying to return is the fact that FH says it was the deal of a lifetime and I’m indecisive (which are both true). (I also think it has something to do with the fact that his Mom recommended the jeweler.) But he also admits that I won’t be happy with it if it’s not exactly what I want (I think I bought it b/c it was so inexpensive. It doesn’t look bad, but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted…)
