I have long had jewelry lust over this beautiful tacori hair pin... I don''t know the dimensions but I think they are rather large. (Something you''d use one or two of as large accents, rather than several little ones in a hairdo.)

As much as I''d love to purchase a couple of these (at the bargain price of $168 EACH!- when did MOP get so expensive!?!) they don''t quite fit in with my wedding budget! Does anyone know where I can find a fake (or used?) one? I''ve scoured the internet and gone through every convolution of search terms on e-bay imaginable.... help, please!

All I really want is a large, mother of pearl flower for my hair, why is this so hard to find?

At $120, this one is slightly less expensive but probably still out of your budget:

I''m still looking.

Or what about buying a couple of these for $6.50 apiece, cutting off the elastic, and hot gluing a plain hairpin on each? It has a "mother of pearl finish," so the look might be about right.

ETA: Oops, those are temporarily out of stock. I forget how soon your wedding is, so those may or may not be a possibility.

Ooh, that first one's a nice fake, Blenheim!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I really like these choices (although yes, $120 is still about $100 more than I wanted to spend...)

I am going to look at them all more closely and see. Thanks!

maybe you could try going to a bead shop and putting one together yourself - not sure how much the MOP would be, but you might be able to find it cheaper than retail or find fakey looking ones... I know the bead shop I frequent is very friendly, and if you show them a picture they will do their best to help you out!

good luck!!

You could make something similar pretty easily. Buy a couple mother of pearl ovals, some wire, the hair sticks and some small pearls or crystals to embellish the middle, everything would be under 30 bucks and it would only take a few minutes to make.

If you like carved flowers, you could hot glue these MOP flowers to some hair sticks and you''d be done for about 11 bucks and it would only take 30 seconds.

I''m beginning to think I need to make wedding jewelry. The prices some people charge are ridiculous!

You guys are so creative... I am not sure I am this crafty! but maybe I can try after finals...

Reminds me of a necklace I''ve always wanted - mother of pearl and rubies

What about these mother of pearl brooches from www.whiteaisle.com? They''re $14 or $18 depending on the size and available in different colors if you want!

albicocca-

I love them! But they only have them right now in pink and grey and I really think ivory would probably work.

Perhaps this is just not meant to be...
