FI and I are getting married September 30, 2006. We''ll probably leave for our honeymoon a few days later. I think we''d like to go somewhere "beachy". What are some low-hurricane risk areas? I believe I''ve heard Hawaii and Aruba. Any others? Thanks!

BF and I are talking about a mid-Oct ''06 wedding. One of our concerns are hurricanes, as we too are looking for something beachy and relaxing.
A couple of places we''ve thrown around are Mexico, Belize and Costa Rica. The pacific side of MX would not be affected by hurricanes. I don''t think that Belize or CR would be, but I hear that the rainy season begins in late Sept. Another option is Tahiti.
Hawaii is lovely (no hurricanes, perfect weather year-round!), but it''s out as I''ve been there a couple of times- to all the islands. If you are strongly considering Hawaii, then I would recommend Maui or Hawaii (big island). Those are my favorite islands (just my humble opinion) Aloha!

Our wedding is on November 5, and we are going on a cruise to the Caribean. I think hurricane season is during August and September, so you should be fine by October. But Katrina did change our deport from New Orleans to Texas.

Huricane season goes all the way to November 30th. I am getting married 10-1-05, the date is a day after yours. ( a year earlier) We are going to Mexico, it is a low hurricane risk however this July our original resort was ruined by hurricane emily...so there is always a chance. Hawai is the safest bet, but a loooong plane ride for us in NY and I HATE to fly

Basically, the West Coast. Usual spots are Hawaii or Mexican resorts like Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, etc.

Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30, altho each area has its own peak times. I''m going to the Western Caribbeans so hopefully the end of October will be calm. I''m watching the storms closely. It''s crazy cuz they''re up to the letter "O" already.

I've heard that the ABC islands in the Carribbean are supposed to be a safe bet during hurrican season. Don't know them all, but I think some of them are Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire. Maybe Barbados as well? Of course anything can happen, but supposedly those islands aren't affected very much.

We''re having a fall destination wedding, so getting married and staying there for our honeymoon. We''re just crossing our fingers. If I could honeymoon anywhere in the world, though, it would be Tahiti. Maybe for our ten year anniversary.
Good luck planning. It''s fun, isn''t it?

We''ve decided (actually he decided - but I''m in full agreement) on a September 2006 wedding on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hilton Waikoloa Village, to be exact. That is where we went on our very first vacation together, and is the most beautiful place we''ve ever seen! Living on the west coast, I go to Hawaii about ever year and September is my favorite month to go. So, yeah, I vote for hawaii - any of the islands are terrific. We are going to stay there for the week with our friends and families and then we may go off to Tokyo for a few days.
