I finally took the plunge and had my late mother in laws engagement diamond reset. The stone was originally set in a 14K yellow gold 6 prong solitaire. The setting was very low to the point that you could not even see where the diamond ended and the setting started. She was screaming for a reset, and with my husbands blessing here she is!

Ohhh, it''s beautiful!!! I love the milgraining on the wedding band. Simple, yet classic.

You can''t tell from the pictures, but the stone is so sparkly and full of life! She was a beauty before, but is much happier in her new home!

Looks great!

Pretty stone! It''s great that you were able to get such a lovely new setting to keep it safe for future generations.

I also have to say that I love your nails!

YAAAAAAY, Dana! She looks fantastic in her new home! I love the curvy/airy architecture of the setting and it sits so beautifully next to your yummy band. Sooo pretty!

I really love the side view on that setting. So much of the diamond is visible!

It''s lovely!

Your set is lovely Dana, you must be very happy with it

Very nice! It looks great in the new setting!

It looked great before, but it is breathtaking now, especially with the diamond band.
And I agree, you do have nice nails!

Wow, it certainly makes the diamond look quite different! What a difference a setting makes, huh? I''m glad to hear you were able to set the diamond into something that you enjoy more

It does make a difference.
I went back and forth on the whole idea of changing the original setting, but the prongs were getting a bit bent on the old setting and I figured that my MIL would want the diamond to be worn and loved, not sitting in a jewelry box.

I would like to take the old setting and have an emerald set in it for my daughter when she gets older. She is only 4 now and never was able to meet her grandmother, but I think that it would be such a nice gift for her. She was born in May so that is the reason for the emerald. There are also 2 diamond bands that went with the solitaire, so I will probably have them all soldered together!

Anyway, thanks again to everyone! I just love that there is a place full of bling lovers like me!

The reset is lovely. It makes your diamond the center of attention. Enjoy your ring
