Hello! I bought a yellow diamond ring! the diamond has a GIA certificate , it is 1.26 carats fancy intense with an halo of 0.60 ct. The certificate says it has a strong fluorescence and I would like to have an opinion on it. I paid around 2.200euros for it, was it worth it? I love it anyways but I would like to have a second opinon on its possible value. thank you!! :)fancy giallo.jpgreport gia.jpg

I can't speak as to its value, but what color is the fluorescence? I do wish the reports would always say the color. What matters is that you love it. Its a lovely ring. I have a much smaller intense green yellow with strong green fluor., and I love its changeability.

I don't know what colour the fluorescence is... I never tried it! of course I love it and my question about its value was just curiosity! I would love to see yours!

Don't expect much, lol. Its only .44, and its in just a four prong setting. I've thought about halos in various colors, but I'm just a solitaire person I guess. I'm attaching the vendor photo, and 2 pictures I took. When I see it in the sun, it mostly looks like a (sparkly) lime popsicle, but I haven't been able to capture that in a picture.

And I'd love to see yours in the sun, too.

So cool! I haven't seen that shade before. Do you have any plans for setting it?

I don't know about its value either. But I feel like 2200 euros sounds like a fair price for a colorness/near-colorless diamond of that size with that setting? So if you love the color as well, then it seems like a good buy!

wow! It's very nice! the color is very intense!

I'm not a typical PS'r. I like thin, small, lightweight, solitaire. I don't like to feel rings on my fingers. I have a diamond band that I can't even bring myself to put it into even though that would dress it up a bit, because its not as comfortable as the round band its on now. I like to wear it most of the day, and comfort is number 1. So its likely set, as it is.

Thanks. I was browsing for greenish yellow, because to me they seem brighter than pure yellow, somehow. And once I found the strong green fluorescence, I was hooked. Even on a cloudy day it can seem to glow.

HI!
In general- we can only evaluate reports on Fancy colored mined diamonds if the report is from GIA. I can't really judge from the picture with 100% surity....but it does not look like a stone graded Fancy Intense Greenish Yellow by GIA
If you love the stone and ring, that's most important.

Omg sorry, that's so rude of me! I didn't notice it's already set b/c I'm using PS on my phone. I didn't mean to make it sound like "OF COURSE you're going to do something else with it." I love a simple solitaire!

Oh think nothing of it! Even if you had noticed it was set, my tastes are not everyone's, lol. I'm really kind of a minimalist with my settings, I guess. I like the focus to be on the stone and not the setting. And at the same time, I don't like to draw attention to it, not that its huge or highly valuable. I just wear it for me, if that makes sense.

Do you see green irl? I ask because idk if it's just not a great pic of your ring, or what. I think it's very pretty, but think the GIA would call it yellowish brown if the pic is accurate. I'm far from an expert, however. I'm just a collector of fcds and love them:D. Having said that, a rose by any other name will smell just as sweet, so who cares about the label if you love it!

I would love to see @Bea2911 's ring in the sun! (not trying to pester, just not sure if you noticed that above, since I didn't put it in a reply to you.)

Great, thanks! I look forward to seeing it.

It’s a pretty ring! I have to say though that if GIA graded a 1.26 ct diamond fancy intense the price would be WAY more expensive than what you paid. So I’m not sure how GIA would grade the stone, but it’s a lovely piece and I like the size of the halo!

this is the report! they say NFIG yellow about the color but consider that it is a SI1! in a natural light it is a dark yellow - green! I am waiting for a sunny day to see it better!

So this is the color in a natural light, not a sunny day unfortunately! it looks quite greenish!

Definitely see green in there!

While the report says Fancy Intense Greenish Yellow, I believe I am seeing a good bit of brown and nearly no green. You have to love the diamond, but maybe not the paperwork. AIG appears to be a significant lab on their website, but who they are, and what level of credibility to give to their reports, is up for some speculation. I am sure there are pleased clients, but the lab's overall reputation and credibility is not clearly recognized.

When a consumer wishes to really regard the lab report as the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, then there are only a handful of qualified laboratories in the entire world. There are many second and third tier labs doing good work, but some only appear to be professional. You must be careful and skeptical.

Good to see the real thing matches the report better than the vendor pic did. Are you glad for that, OP? Or were you hoping it'd be more yellow?

Definitely see green in there!

Yes it's super green especially at night under an artificial light! And it has also some subtle shades of orange! Not as bright as your lime one though! Here is a picture now, it looks greenish to me!

I bought it just because I like it and I don't really need the report I just wanted it to be natural and fancy! I WhatsApp Image 2021-02-15 at 21.12.03.jpegappreciate your opinion a lot, I am not an expert obviously but I see it green!

I love it! I prefer this less common shades!

Looks more green to me there. If I was you, I'd get a UV light, like in the Phosphorescence in Diamonds thread http://www.ultraviolet-tools.com/ultraviolet-lamps.html or even just one like this to check fluorescence color: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001VZC5LA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
