Hello all,

I've done some searching and couldn't find anything particularly specific on current reasonable pricing for fancy light yellow diamonds in the 2 to 3 carat weight. I'm getting some quotes from my jeweler with a price per carat as follows, all in the VVS1-VS2 range:

$6,800/carat --> 3 carats
$5,900/carat --2.5 carat stones
$5,400/carat -->2 carat stones

For GIA stones, do these seem like ballpark reasonable prices?

I should add I'm looking to build a 3 stone ring.

Is the fancy light yellow designation important to you or the individual the stone is for? If it isn't you may want to consider a low alphabet stone as you can save yourself some substantial money. The pear in my avatar is a y-z yellow and was $3400 per carat, the stone and ring are from DiamondsByLauren (DBL) he has a great website with many low alphabet as well as fancy yellow stones.

It depends on shape, cut, etc. But that seems very high to me for fancy light yellow. Looking at james allen for fancy light yellows over 2ct there's a range of prices, but many 2ct stones are in the 6-9k range .

The designation is not important, but I do want a more rich yellow. Do have a color enhancing cup on the pear diamond in your avatar? It's a beautiful color.

I'm looking for ovals. The James Allen stones have significantly lower clarity. I know that is less important for colored stones, but they generally do seem to be SI1 stones, no?

For this one:

That's about a 1-1 comparison, and I get $4,800/carat versus $5,400/carat.

Same here:

$4,950/carat

YZ can be pretty much as saturated as FLY i think - it's can be a judgement call from the graders bc D-Z is graded face up and Fancy light + is graded face down

another option if you're open to something with a brownish modifier, those stones have a rich yellow color and are less expensive. example:

Looks so lovely, but already on hold....

His stuff get snatched up so quickly, like within seconds. There is no time to think, what's his return policy, does anyone know?
