What is everyone using or did you use?

We grew up listening to my dad play Elvis...all 3 daughters as little girls would sing Elvis songs on 8-track with Daddy....so my FOB song was "Can''t Help Falling In Love With You." He loved it. And everyone who knows him recognized why instantly.

we are using a Kenny Chesney song titled "There goes my life"

Made me cry but not as hard as the original song we chose, "You lift me up" by that opera type hottie- What''s his name- it is on the tip of my tounge.... JOSH GROBIN...that is it. I couldn''t handle that song- I was bawling my eyes out when I heard it. LOL, I am such a dork...

My two friends who jsut got married used "Unforgettable" - Nat king cole and that Rod Stweart song - what is it?! Grrr! I''m going to remeber as soon as someone else posts it!!

Ginger- are you thinking of Rod Stewarts "Forever Young"?

My dad and I are dancing to Louis Armstrong- "What a Wonderful World"

Although I am not presently getting married...I have known for a long time that my dad and I will dance to "Summer Wind" by Frank Sinatra. When I was about 10 & cd''s were just becoming popular, my dad had me transfer his brandy-new Sinatra box set to tape so he could listen to it in his car. He mentioned to me that Summer Wind was his favorite song so I snuck it in every time I had a chance. I think it ended up being on the tapes 7 or 8 times. hahahha, my poor dad probably hates that song now, but it''ll always be special to me

Everyone has such cute stories!

I love the one about your Dad and Frank Sinatra tapes.

My Dad has taken dance lesson with my mom forever so I definitley need to learn to ballroom dance! Neither my Dad nor me are emotional in the way that we would cry. I doubt I will cry at any point during the wedding or reception. I will definitley cry out of frustration during the whole planning the event thing. My mom is already driving me crazy and we haven''t even officially started to plan.

Ive been thinking about Lee Anne Womacks "I hope You Dance" or "What a Wonderful World".

All the songs that i know my Daddy really likes arent good for slow dancing... guess i will have to talk with Momma. Daddy taught me to dance and while he doesnt know anything fancy (swing, ballroom, etc), hes my favorite dance partner.

We didn''t have a father-daughter dance b/c my dad died about a month or so after I first met my husband.

My two grandfathers walked me down the aisle but I didn''t feel comfortable dancing with them as I thought that should have been reserved for only my dad.

One of my friends had "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra. It was great. Incidentally, that was my and my husband''s first dance song.

I''ll be dancing with my daddy to "Daddy''s Little Girl" by Al Martino. My mom already said she can''t be in the room when it happens or she''ll cry her eyes out.

ok girls, is "Butterfly Kisses" to old to use?

My father and I danced to "The Way You Look Tonight." My father always thought it was a weird choice, but I chose it because the movie "Father of the Bride" and every time I heard it it reminded me of the relationship between Steve Martin and Kimberly Williams...which is sort of how my relationship is with my own dad.

That is the same reason my girlfriend chose that song to dance with her father.

She got married about a year or so after that movie came out so it was still timely.

Kblerly -- I don''t think Butterfly Kisses is too old at all. I went to a couple of weddings where they chose that song, but no one said "hey! So-and-so had that song for the father dance too!" If you really like it you should use it.

:) I think we are using Sunrise, Sunset from fiddler on the roof. Me and my daddy have always sang showtunes together and that is one of his favorites. Oh man.. father/daughter songs make me CRY CRY CRY.

Oh Gosh,
This whole thread makes me cry! My FI and I have finally started the ball rolling on our planning. Now there is so much to think about. You all have chose such sweet songs; Did you all consult your daddies on your choices? Or will you surprise them?
For some reaon, the one song that my daddy used to sing me when I was a little girl was a really old song, What do You get When You Fall in Love? There''s a line in there about
kissing a boy and getting enough germs to catch pnemonia, then when you do, he''ll never phone ya.
Guess pops was trying to keep me away from yucky boys.
Funny, but not wedding appropriate, is it?
he he.

I have know since I was a little girl that I would dance to...

"Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler...the words are so moving.

We did a combined parent dance to IZ''s Hawaiian ukelele version of "Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World."

Other nice songs are:

To Sir with Love by Lulu
Thank You by Dido
Forever Young by Rod Stewart (there''s a slow version of this song that he sings...it''s beautiful
Isn''t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder

My dad almost chose this for our dance! Beautiful song.

We danced to LeeAnn Womak''s I Hope You Dance. Forever Young was another choice.

Wedding story!! After J and I ushered out our guests (modified receiving line), my sis bustled my train. Well, after wandering around our city''s historic district for pictures for almost an hour, my bustle strings were coming loose, unbeknownst to me! Halfway through our first dance, I started stepping on my train, and by the time for the father-daughter dance, my dad was stepping on my train! Luckily, the 2 dances were followed by general dancing, so I ran to the bathroom and my sister and personal asst. safety-pinned my bustle back in place. Good times!
