Hello ladies!

My FI and I are getting married on September 1, 2007. We are having a backyward wedding BBQ. There will be less than 50 people there...super casual and mostly my FI and my close friends are going to be the guests...my parents, his parents and brothers and sisters...but that is it, really...

I would absolutely LOVE to give out tshirts as favors. I guess my thinking is that with most favors, I don''t ever really use the favors (who needs a little bottle of bbq sauce with the couples'' name on it) or I just plain forget them... I figure people can wear them to sleep in, or work out in...I mean really, who can''t use an extra tshirt?

Anyway, I''d love to get tshirts made that say on the front:

Littlelysser and Mr. Littlelysser''s Labor Day BBQ Wedding

on the back:

They did it in the back yard.

What do you think?

Keeping in mind that most of the guests will be under 40, and are friends of ours...is that too much?

Any other suggestions?

It''s cheeky, but cute, and if it suits your personality then I think people will like it!...
however, to be completely honest I think i would use the bbq sauce more than the t-shirt (but that''s just me, i like to cook)

I used www.zazzle.com to design t-shirts for a charity event...it was easy and the quality was okay (did fade a little with repeated washes)

Other ideas to mull over: Personalized BBQ aprons, personalized BBQ tongs, steak spice, personalized 6-packs of beer (www.myownlabels.com) <--look under the beer section

BTW, your wedding plans sound super fun and relaxed!

Hmmm...if I got one I don''t think I would wear it...sorry! I could see maybe your mom''s wearing the shirt, but not sure about your friends. I could at least use the bottle of sauce for cooking. I actually really like edible favors.

Thanks for the kind words about the wedding. I'm excited.

And of course I don't think anyone other than my mom would wear it wear it - and actually, now that I think about it, there is no way my mom would wear it wear it...but under a sweater or to sleep in or something...somewhere where no one will really see it...I think it would be fun...hopefully. but who knows!

I'll definitely check out those links though! Thanks much!!!

It''s cute, but I definitely wouldn''t wear it. I loved Deco''s favor of the personalized bottle opener... that was useful, small, and handy. BBQ sauce also would be cool. I think the "who can''t use another t-shirt" thing is way overplayed... I donate almost every "free" shirt I get.

Maybe it''s just me, but I think the shirt is hysterical and I would totally wear it to the gym. I wouldn''t wear it out and about, but I really wouldn''t wear any t-shirt out and about.

I totally agree with Robbie, I love t-shirts. I think "they did it in the backyard" is cheesy, but still funny. Sure, I have a ton of t-shirts, but I always love more. I mean, they''re useful to cook in when it''s just you and your FI, or something. Spice rub would also be an awesome favor, though.

I have an abundance of free t-shirts also. You could put that same saying on an apron, or a can coozie (which they could use at the bbq). I do think the saying is hilarious!

I agree. For me, nearly every wedding decision came down to dollars and value. I don't know how much personalized shirts would be per person, but if you don't mind spending X amount of dollars on something that most of your guests wouldn't wear again, go for it. But I think the BBQ sauce, seasoning, bottle opener or BBQ tools have a greater chance of being put to use, thus increasing the value.

If it were me, I wouldn''t want to waste the money on t-shirts that won''t be worn or will be given away. I always give away my "free" t-shirts.

I REALLY love the BBQ sauce idea though.

hmmmm. Alright. you''ve definitely given me something to think about!

I don''t know if you already have a company you want to go through, but I highly recommend customink.com... we went through them to order my college a cappella group''s t-shirts and they came out fantastically. Quality''s great, and you have lots of brands of base T''s to choose from.

Oh and FYI, we ordered 25 and that came out to $12.60 each

(I''m sure you could find cheaper, but it all depends on the quality you''re shooting for!)

It would probably be something I''d wear to the gym or to sleep. If you really want to do the shirts, go for it! There are far, far, far more useless things I''ve gotten at weddings, trust me!!!!

The tshirt slogan is definitely funny. How bad is it that my first thought was you should tack in something like "I saw them do it..." or "...while I was there to watch" ??

That said, though the shirt is funny, personally I'd appreciate something like a BBQ sauce or spice rub more. You could get a recipe and make them yourselves so they'd be more personal than a store-bought bottle w/ a label stuck on. Spice rubs can be so great for giving plain BBQ a great kick, they can sit on the shelf for quite a while, and it'd be so easy to mix up in one big batch to put in fun bottles or cans of some kind.

Penzeys.com is great for spices. High quality and crazy cheap compared to anything you'll find in the store. They even have BBQ rub already made up with some interesting ingredients for $15 for a 1lb bag!

I love Penzey''s!!! Their rubs are awesome. Our Wisconsin relatives ship them to us often, but we''re getting a store in the DC area finally. They even sell the little jars to put them in and you could make your own labels.

Another vote for spice rub or bbq sauce over the t-shirt... love the slogan, but I wouldn''t wear the shirt, except maybe to sleep in... and I''d guess most people have plenty of t-shirts they wear ''only to sleep in'' already.

Could you get the slogan printed on the bbq sauce? Or on a label attached to it with a ribbon?

How about a label or tag for the rub that says something like...

"Littlelysser and Mr. Littlelysser did it in their backyard
Time to spice things up in yours"

with the other side of the bottle/tag giving suggestions/instructions for use.

I actually liked the apron idea alot more! If you''re going for something wearable then this fits perfectly while not being 1 in a million. Just think, the more we have of one type of thing, the less likely we are to wear any one of them and we simply re-wear our favorites over time because we have the option to do that. But who has a multitude of aprons on hand?

I don''t like the idea of the slogan being sexual in nature. I''m not a prude or anything but I''ve never worn things like that before and wouldn''t even wear a tshirt that I liked if it was suggestive like that. That''s just me though.

I meant to go back and add that I DO like the apron idea for the reasons that So Happy mentions. That said, I'm not a fan of wearing something with someone else's name and wedding date on it. I wouldn't mind that info on a bottle of rub or BBQ sauce, but wearing something or carrying a tote bag with someone's else info seems weird to me. Maybe you could use a phrase that would remind folks of your wedding ("Getting Spicy in the back yard" or something), but doesn't necessarily have your name and wedding date in huge type.

Oh PENZEYS! Possibly my favorite thing about living in Wisconsin. Their spices are the BEST.

I got a free t-shirt the other day. The only sizes that were available were XL and XXL. I took it cause it was free, but seriously, I''m not that tiny and I can''t even sleep or work out in an XL t-shirt because it just gets all twisted up. The only realistic use I can think of is to use as a swimming shirt to protect me from the sun when I''m snorkling.

If you do decide to give out t-shirts, please keep this in mind and order some larges and mediums. It''s a pet peeve of mine!

I think it''s cool. I adore t-shirts (but then again I also like the gym, and wear t shirts there frequently or just around the house or whatever). But, I only love them if they come in Small so that I can actually wear it. If you do the t-shirt thing, make sure you get a variety of sizes.
