Greetings! With February finally here we can start to think of the upcoming spring (especially for those of us weary of snow and cold). Of course with warmer weather we will wear thinner and lighter clothes. What are your plans to start getting in shape for the spring and summer? Me? Walk, walk, walk. Watch my calories and walk.

I am off to work. Take care and have a great day.

HI:

Slush fest outside--8 C today! Went to the pool and had a great workout. I love my new Speedo training fins--they are compact and da bomb!

Have a good weekend! :wavey:

cheers--Sharon

With the nasty, cold weather and all of the ice & snow we've had since December, I haven't been able to get my walks in every day. I really can't do the treadmill because it makes my knees ache (oh, the joys of getting older!). This week I decided I'd start wearing my pedometer every day and shoot for 10,000 steps for now. If my 73 year old mother who had heart surgery this past October can walk 10,000 steps a day, then by day...so can I. Wearing it really helps me concentrate on always taking the stairs at work, parking farther away, walking around the office more, getting extra walking in stores, etc. I have to do something until I can get more consistent with my regular daily walks! I've been doing really well with food, but the exercise is lacking.

This was a really long, trying week and I'm glad it's over. I'm exhausted and looking so forward to sleeping until I wake up without the assistance of an alarm clock tomorrow. I'm beat. Matt and I ate soup & salad at Panera Bread and then walked 2 miles this evening before it started freezing rain. I got almost 12,000 steps in today - not too bad! I finished a book and I'm going to make myself not start another for a few days. I've been reading the Women's Murder Club series, and I tend to go a little overboard reading one right after the other. I'm going to get some zzzzz's now, so have a great day tomorrow!!!!

So much for sleeping in! I woke up to Lily Pie licking my face at 6am. I stumbled downstairs and waited for her to do her thing outside, let her back in and fed her, and then stumbled back to bed. She didn't make a peep the rest of the morning, so I was able to get some sound sleeping in.

Marcy - Matt has discovered Angry Birds. He's been watching basketball & playing Angry Birds all day!

Hi. I went shopping for a while last night then came home and worked on laundry and got my Valentine cards ready to send out. Just goofing off made me lose track of time; I got to bed at 1:11 am. D’oh! So I slept in until about 9 this morning.

My dad was snow machining today so I told my mom I would bring lunch over and eat with her. I went to the eye doctor first and talked to the optical shop. The glasses I got in December are awful for distance. They checked the prescription in the new glasses and my old ones and said the new ones are right per my exam in December. Strange thing is they said my left eye has dramatically improved to the point of about 1/3 less correction required. Now that seems very strange. My close up vision is great but I am having a hard time reading signs when I am driving until I am right on top of them. My eye doctor was not there today so he said he would talk to him on Monday and call me.

I picked up a few things at Lowes and our dry cleaning then picked up lunch for my mom and I.

This afternoon I am just bored and cold. It is snowing again and I have to drive to the airport again tomorrow so I hope the roads are okay. I hate driving on bad roads even though my car works really well on it. Wish me luck.

Eats were pretty good yesterday and good today. I had one cookie from Subway with my lunch; everything else was okay yesterday. Today I am doing good and when I got hungry I had a piece of the 45 calorie wheat bread toasted. Supper is my second half of a steak and baked potato I brought home and froze a few weeks ago. My carrots and cherry tomatoes are all frozen so I guess I’ll have a fruit cup with my supper.

I watched a few videos on Pages and figured out how to do labels in Word. I also played Angry Birds.

Sharon, we have another blast of artic cold coming our way again too. This has been a brutal winter. Your new speedo training fins sound great!

Deegee, I am putting off starting another book for a few days too. The treadmill really tears up my knees too; walking doesn’t seem to do that. Congratulations for walking almost 12,000 steps the other day. Too funny Lily woke you up early this morning but I am glad you were able to go back to sleep.

Take care and stay safe and warm. :wavey:
Marcy

Deegee, I am sure Matt will enjoy Angry Birds to excess. I know I do.

Good morning. I had one pancake and a piece of bacon for lunch. I expect I'll have a lazy day.

Take care and I'll check back sometime this week. :wavey:
Marcy

HI:

Worked very hard at the yoga class today--seems more difficult than my regular exercise gigs; I am achy! Dug thru cms of snow also--no wonder my arms are sore!

To the pool tomorrow if I can get out of bed!

chers--Sharon

I’m back! :wavey: I flew to Phoenix last Sunday and met up with Marty. We spent the week with his parents then both flew home today. The lucky guy got upgraded to first class so we didn’t get to set together. The flight between Phoenix and Denver was quick though.

The highlight of my week was going to the Tucson gem show yesterday. :appl: I am sure my in-laws and Marty were bored out of their minds but I had a blast. I didn’t take in many of the crystals or rough because I was on a mission to find a tsavorite for a RHR. I looked at some jewelry and a few sapphires, spinels and aquas but kept focused on the tsavorite garnets. Marty patiently looked with me. I found an radiant cut I liked but the green was not very saturated. That lady had a nice cushion but it was a little small. My search continued for hours. One guy had a gorgeous cushion that was about 8mm which is a little big for my taste and once I said that he just blew me off. Strange. His prices were high anyway. Towards the last section we were in I found a lady with some nice tsavorite garnets and we picked out a cushion and oval from we both liked. She had us back away from the bright lights and we both decided on the cushion. It is a 1.07 ct 6.8 x 5.5mm. I was all set to take photos of it tonight when we got home but we stopped at a Jareds on the way home to try it with some different settings and really like one of them so I left it there. I will get my ring on Tuesday. The setting I picked is your basic 3 stone - so the ring I got has 2 diamonds on each side 1/4 ctw. It really made the green stone pop. I was so excited to get something I liked.

The week was fun. It wasn’t too bad staying with the in-laws. We had our own little side of the house with a bedroom and bath. They like to have happy hour starting at noon so there was a lot of drinking. One day we went to an outlet mall and a shopping mall. Wednesday I went and rode in the golf cart while Marty played golf.

I ate far more than I should be we walked a lot so hopefully that helped.

I hope all of you are doing well and had a great week.

Sharon, I sure enjoyed the mid 60 degree weather in Arizona. I was sad to see so much snow on the ground here when we got home. Winter is still going on strong in my neck of the woods. I bet your arms were sore more from shoveling than yoga. Did you make it to the pool?

Take care.
Laters,
Marcy

marcy - your new ring sounds gorgeous! I can't wait to see pictures. It's sweet that Marty helped you look. I think Matt would have found a corner and taken a nap. Sounds like you had fun in AZ. I like happy hour starting at noon...I could go for that sometimes! I ate and drank a ton while we were in Seattle, but we walked so much that I really didn't gain much and it came right back off when I got home. I'm sure you won't have any problems since you walked a bunch.

This week was another crazy week at work. I guess it will be this way until mid-March when the legislative session is over. We had a couple unpredicted snows this week that made getting to and from work a little tricky. One evening I was on my way to get Matt on the little curvy, hilly road between his office and mine, and I came around a bend to a car that had hit the hillside and flipped on its top right in the middle of the road, and people were trapped in it. I was the 2nd vehicle on the scene, and luckily the first vehicle was a snowplow. That guy got out and took over, which was great because I panicked. There was nothing anybody could do for the people in the car until the emergency crews got there, and the road was little and curvy and the snowplow guy was trying to clear the scene for the emergency vehicles, so after about 5 minutes I picked my way around the accident and left. By the time I got to Matt's office, I was in a full blown panic attack. I hate that! Ever since my wreck, I totally freak out when I see a wreck. I can't even think straight. I go into "gotta get away from here" mode.

Tonight we're heading to KY. My niece's youth group hosts a Valentine's dinner for the adults. The kids are the servers, and they take it very seriously. It's cute. We've done this for many years now with my parents & my sister and her husband. They also show a movie after dinner, but I think we're going to head to my other sister's to visit with her & her kids for a while. That sister's hubby got a new SUV this week, and I have to go check it out. My mom is still not able to see very well out of her eye after surgery. The dr told her this cataract was bad and that it would take extra time to heal, so hopefully it is mending...just slowly. Marcy - how's your mom?

Deegee, how awful for you to be the second person on the scene for a bad accident. I completely understand why you would react that way since you were in such a bad accident. I am sure it was very frightening for you. I hope those people were okay. This winter has been brutal in so many places. I saw on the news one car that flipped on ice was on it’s nose. Wow! Sorry to hear you are so busy at work. The Valentine dinner sounds very nice. I hate to hear about your mom’s eye, I am sure the worse they are the longer it can take to recover. My mom is doing better; the infection continues to improve in her toe. Thanks for asking. I am rather anxious to see my new ring myself. I might have to beg Marty to run me down to pick it up after work some day this week. That store is about an hour south of us.

My trip to DIA last Sunday was not pleasant. We had a few inches of snow but Denver had more so I was on ice for about 1/2 of that trip. My flight was delayed over 3 hours so I spent a lot of time with my Kindle in the airport that day. I actually read an entire book that day between airport time, plane time and a little bit before going to bed.

I am not looking forward to returning to work on Monday. It looks like my team has some bickering among themselves issues so I will be smoothing that over this week. My swing shift forgot to do something and I saw on their shift report for that day there needs to be better communications between them and the day shift. That really ticks me off because they had 2 emails about it and both of them would have checked on it once so if 3 reminders isn’t enough I don’t know what is. I am not impressed when people blame everyone and everything else besides themselves. I have not talked to my boss yet but this could be another big mistake on my team so that could make matters worse. Aak.

We had 5 inches of snow this week which is still on the streets here. Is it summer yet?

We were very lazy today. Since I didn’t have any food in the house I bought breakfast for us at Burger King. About 3 we were getting hungry but were too lazy to go out so I was going to buy fast food again but nothing sounded good. So I decided I would venture to the store and get stuff to make patty melts. While I was there I figured I may as well get food for the week.

I had 5 batches of laundry today but got them done about 5 today.

Stay safe and warm!
Marcy

Hello Everyone.......I guess you thought I fell off the planet. Maybe in a way, I have. I thought it was about time to check in and I'm glad to see so many still here working on living healthy and encouraging everyone along.

I guess I'm OK, but it has been a tough year so far. Where to start.......My parents have been a big part of things lately. They're very elderly and they sold their home in Maryland, were supposed to move in with my brother (well truth be told, give him the money from the sale of their home, so they could fund a home for the 3 of them, but he couldn't get the mortgage), so two weeks before Christmas, having nowhere else to go, they told me and Charlie we needed to find a home in Florida to move to. So, we took all our spare time, and then some and found a nice duplex house in a retirement community about 30 miles from us they could afford to buy. They landed in Tampa on Januray 14th. We closed on the house, and within 4 days, my mother had a mild heart attack. She was released from the hospital, and passed away 4 days after that. It was a major shock. Not only did we have to move them in their new home, but move her things out immediately. My father was in total shock and nearly comatose. It's taken the last two weeks to get him almost human again. And now, he lives here in a home all by himself away from everyone he knew, except for me and Charlie. This coming Thursday would have been her 88th birthday.

Workouts for me have been spotty at best. We were able to get in a good workout yesterday. I'm sore today, so that's good. It had litteraly been 4 weeks since my last gym session. And being with the family, has been a pork-fest. Charlie said that when I'm around my family, we all just "oink oink!" But in my family, food has always been our crutch. So far though, I haven't gained weight.

Work is going well. I'm top biller in the office, so that's good.

Not much else to report, as if that isn't enough. Sorry to dump the bad on you, but I have wanted to check in for some time and have always appreciated the friendship and encouragement this group has always stood for.

I do hope you are all well. I haven't read much on the forum for some time. So, I'm sure I've missed some significant things and for that I'm sorry. I do miss you all.....

Hugs to you all.......

Ps: My father gave me my mother's diamond studs, which are really nice and I am wearing one. I do find it comforting to have my mothers diamond in my ear......

Hi everyone.

Rod, I am so very sorry to hear about your mom. It sounds like some very trying months for all of you. My heart really goes out to your dad. He will have a very rough time adjusting to the move to Florida and loss of his wife. Hugs to all of you. I hope he starts to meet some people in the retirement community so he has some activities and company. I know you and Charlie will be busy helping him out and I am sure he is glad to have you guys nearby. Congratulations for being top biller at work. I am glad having your mom’s diamond earrings gives you a sense of comfort. They will be very special to you. I am excited to hear from you but I hate to hear about what’s been going on in your life.

We were lazy again today. I made pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We had steak and mashed potatoes for a late lunch. I cut my steak in ½ to take to work tomorrow but then got hungry about 6:30 so I had a piece of wheat toast.

I went over to visit my mom for a while. My dad went snow machining today so she was home by herself. I got her and my dad some Arizona t-shirts so wanted to get them their gifts. Her foot is doing better.

I thought it was kind of funny our phone didn’t ring all weekend then I remembered I turned all our phone ringers off before we went on vacation. I turned them back on and got lots of phone calls this evening.

I am dreading going back to work tomorrow. That is the worst part of vacation – when it’s over.

What is everyone doing for Valentine’s Day tomorrow? I bought Marty a box of chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels (heart shaped) and a pair of red fuzzy dice that has little white hearts all over it for the dots with cute little sayings. I thought I would put them on his computer in the morning. He will find them tomorrow evening.

Take care. :wavey:
Marcy

Happy Valentine's Day! :wavey:

Thanks so much Marcy. It has certainly been tough lately for sure. Hopefully, we're past the difficult stage and things will calm down. One of the complications is that my father is nearly 90 and has macular degeneration, so his vision is greatly diminished. I took him to a retina specialist last week and in one eye, he is nearly blind and the other eye can only be corrected to 20/40. Not good, when one realizes he needs to be able to drive to get things. Luckily, we got him a home in a golf cart community, so we emmediately, bought him one. He can go anywhere he needs to go (drug stores, grocery stores, bank, etc.) on his golf cart. What I worry about is that with him 30 miles away and with my crazed work schedule, I won't be able to get down there often enough to see him.

Anyway, thanks again.

I'm sorry you have to go back to work. It is tough to do after a vacation for sure...

We didn't really do anything for Valentines Day. But, since it's Monday night, we did our usual Sushi night and for an added treat, Charlie picked up some dark chocolate from a store around from his store. The chocolate is dark, with cranberries and blueberries embedded in it. It's such a treat!

Happy Valentines Day everyone.......

Good evening all!

Rod - I've wondered how you've been doing. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My deepest sympathies to you and your dad. That's great that he can get around everywhere in a golf cart. Hopefully he will start meeting people and making friends and finding lots of things to keep him busy. Like Marcy said, I'm sure he's glad to have you and Charlie nearby - even if you can't visit as often as you'd like to. He knows your near, and that's probably a comfort to him. Hugs to you. Are you and Charlie still enjoying your new place?

Marcy - I hope your day was better than you thought it would be, and that it wasn't a big mistake for your team. I'm finding that I'm dreading Sundays because Monday is lurking right behind it! I'm getting really burned out and I need a vacation. But like you say, you really dread going back! I'm glad to hear your mom's foot is doing better. Hopefully she'll be up running around in no time. That's too funny about turning your phones off. My bat phone is back with the IT department because it keeps dropping our work network. They've had it for over a week, and I haven't asked about it. I don't want it back!!!

We really enjoyed our evening with family Saturday night. My goofy 14-year old nephew was our server along with one of his friends. They did a good job, even though my nephew kept taking drinks from his dad's glass every time he brought a refill. He & his friend are such clowns, but they were trying really hard to do a good job so it was actually quite cute...and funny. My niece was a server too. She's a klutz like me, so she was really excited at the end of the evening when she hadn't spilled anything on anyone. Too cute. That's pretty much all Matt and I do for V-day, no gifts or anything. For the first 14 years of our marriage, we stopped to eat dinner on the way home every single night. A few years ago we were trying to find someplace to eat one evening, and it happened to be V-day and we couldn't get in anywhere. This was back before we were cooking at home, so there weren't many things felt like we could make. We got aggravated that we couldn't get in anywhere, so we stopped by the grocery store and got stuff to make chili & grilled cheese sandwiches because we knew we could make that. So chili & grilled cheese has become our V-day tradition, along with a quiet evening at home with the cat & dog. Yes, we're a terribly exciting couple! Today was a crazy day and I'm all tuckered out, so I'm off to bed. Have a great day tomorrow!

Hi Deegee.....Thank you for the kind words. It is comforting to at least have my father nearby as I'm sure it is for him. He does enjoy his new golf cart, which he keeps referring to as a "go-cart!" Today was his first day completely alone. I just spent the last hour speaking with him and he fixed a nice dinner for himself, so that's encouraging. It certainly is a significant change for a man just two weeks away from his 90th birthday.

I agree with you about dreading Sundays. For me the weekend starts on a bright note with Sushi on Friday night. Saturday is usually a nice day. I sleep in, we lounge around and have breakfast (coffee, fresh bowl of fruit and a scone), then we try to get a workout in sometime in the afternoon, followed by a nice dinner somewhere. Sunday, I wake up and realize the weekend is just about over and work is just around the corner. What is this word "veykashun??" We haven't taken one in such a loooong time.

The family dinner sounded like fun!

Thanks again, it's nice seeing you here........

Hi everyone. :wavey:

Rod, hopefully they can correct your dad’s one eyes so he can see okay. The “go cart” sounds like a safer way for him to get around. Hopefully he’ll make some friends in the senior community soon and that will help him and you as well. As busy as you are with work it will make it hard to get over there to see him and help him out. It sounds like you had a nice supper and some of your favorite dark chocolate today. It sounds like your dad did okay today and fixed himself a nice supper. That is great he is doing so well with his 90th birthday coming soon. I am sure you and Charlie will have a special celebration with him. Give him a hug for me and tell him I am thinking of him and wish him Happy Birthday in 2 weeks.

Deegee, luckily our bad mistake slipped under the radar – which doesn’t make it right but easier to deal with. I talked to 4 of my 5 employees today and it went better than anticipated. The other lady was the one who probably made the worst mistake wasn’t there today. She’s been there a year now and just doesn’t seem to connect the dots on the weird things, which of course led to this mistake. I struggle with finding the balance between you really screwed up and what do we need to do to help you figure this out. It’s reached a point where she just needs to know I am concerned about her retention of procedures. I hope you get a vacation soon. I agree with you that Sunday is not as much fun because we know Monday is around the corner. I would keep my mouth shut about the Bat Phone too and maybe they’ll forget to return it to you. I liked your story about your special Valentine supper. It sounds like a perfect evening to me.

We went to supper tonight with my parents. My dad intended to buy but I snagged the check. They tried to give me some money but I told them “Marty works hard so I can spend money to spend”. We all got a chuckle out of that. We went to a quaint little steak house about 10 miles north of town and had a nice time just visiting. They used to have a house in Arizona so wanted to talk about our trip. They sold it about 8 years ago when my mom’s health started failing. I know my dad misses going down there for a few months each year.

I got Marty a few little silly Valentine’s presents. He said I was in trouble for getting them but I reminded him my Valentine present was the new ring we’ll be picking up hopefully before Saturday.

I had a sirloin steak for supper and brought ½ of it home for sandwiches for our lunch tomorrow. Marty and I split some ice cream for dessert.

Take care.
Marcy

Hi everyone! We did go down and pick up my tsavorite ring tonight. I can't say I am displeased with the results. If you are interested here is the link https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-tsavorite-garnet-ring.156657/ in CS.

We ate supper down there. I got a small pizza and it was quite tasty. I brought home most of it for our lunch tomorrow. Marty had fish and chips.

Take care.
Marcy

HI:

Great to hear from you Rod--but so sorry about the news of your Mother's passing. I hope your Dad is managing.

I bought new ski equipment but it is too cold to use it today--boohoo. So I went to the pool instead. Hopefully the weekend brings better temps and I can get on my boards.....

Keep well folks!

cheers--Sharon

Howdy!

marcy - I love the ring! Lucky lady!!!! I had considered having my ering reset and putting a colored stone in my current setting for a rhr. I only have one colored stone ring, so I need more - right? Are you still liking your solitaire? I'm trying to decide between a solitaire or a 3 stone ring. I have a nice 3/4 eternity band from my old wedding set that I can use with whichever I decide to go with.

Hi rod & sharon!

I'm having another emergency root canal in the morning, and I am so looking forward to it. I have been having trouble with this tooth for almost a year since I broke it last year eating popcorn. My dentist put a crown on it and it has been sensitive ever since. The sensitivity has turned to pure pain. The x-ray yesterday showed it was cracked straight down from the crown to the root, and so is the tooth next to it. I'm not sure if I'm having 1 or 2 root canals tomorrow...all I want is the pain to stop!!! I have been eating a lot of mashed potatoes, soup and yogurt the last few days. I'm going to take a pain pill and go to bed. Have a good day tomorrow!

Hi everyone. Yesterday morning Marty’s truck wouldn’t start. He left the trickle charger on the batteries (it’s a diesel) and checked it when we got home. Finally the truck started so we headed to Sears. We left it for get new batteries put in it.

We then headed to Chilis and split a sandwich.

Marty’s Droid Incredible (aka Bat Phone) has been freaking out for about a month now, dropping the bluetooth, loosing his work emails and phone messages, etc. He decided to go look at the iPhone 4 since Verizon finally has them. He just upgraded to the Droid in October, I did in December so we aren’t qualified for an upgrade. My mom can get a new phone at the end of March. The guy waiting on us tried to get us to add a 4th phone line so we can get the iPhone for the discount price but you do the math for a service with data plan it’s more in the long run than just buying the phone outright. Marty left it for me to decide and I said yes for several reasons. He needs a reliable phone for work. We didn’t spend all the money I saved for our trip and because he wanted it and it made him happy. He’s been under so much stress at work lately I knew it would lift his spirits and he sure seemed a little more like his normal self today. We think the Droid just can’t handle the number of contacts and emails he runs through Microsoft Exchange in his phone. I told him he better not like it too much because I’ll want one when my mom’s phone can be upgraded. She never wants a new phone - she likes to keep the phone she knows how to use.

After we got done at Verizon they called and said the truck was ready so I dropped Marty off to get it and then we both went and played cards with some friends.

Today was LONG at work. We were up late because we got home about 10:30, Marty played with his phone and I just had to look at the photos I took of my ring yesterday morning (yay for sunlight!)

We had some raw veggies and leftovers for supper. I made Kraft Mac and Cheese for lunch tomorrow. I have some fruit cups to go with it. I don’t know what we’ll do for supper tomorrow but then it’s the weekend so woo hoo!

Deegee, yes you do new some colored stone rings. I truly decide what ring I want to wear then pick out clothes to match. Sad, but true. I think that is a great idea to put one in your engagement ring. I did that too. I have a spinel in my original wedding rings. I really enjoy the solitaire. I wear it alone sometimes and with the anniversary band sometimes. It’s nice to be able to switch things around. I hated to hear about your tooth pain. I hope your root canal went well and you are feeling much better tonight. Let us know how you are doing.

Take care. :wavey:

Hey.....Today was a tough one. It would have been my mother's 88th birthday today. Charlie and I went down to my dad's and took him to dinner. He lives about 30 miles from us, in a more rural area. Restaurants are somewhat limited. So, I had read about a seafood place and the reviews said the food was terrific. I called before going and found out they're only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday and it's outdoor dining on picnic benches. Intrigued, I thought it might be interesting. The food was all great. It's all fried (not so healthy), but was SO fresh. I had fish, scallops and shrimp as did my dad. Charlie just had fish and shrimp. They don't have beer or wine, so while we waiting for our food, Charlie ran down the street to get some beer. It was fun and my dad was in remarkably good spirits given the date. His birthday is exactly two weeks from today and he'll be 90. My brother and my two nephews will be flying down and we're going out to a really terrific place to celebrate.

Hey Sharon.....it's nice to see you. Congrats on the ski gear. Though, I think you recall that my philosophy on snow is "It should be looked at, preferably in pictures, but under no conditions, EVER touched!"

Marcy......OMG., the Tsavorite ring flanked by two diamonds is simply STUNNING!!

Deegee, so sorry about the root (or possibly double root) canal. I've only had one, dreaded it of course, but found it to be painless and much less of an event than I ever imagined. Plus as you said, it will get rid of the pain and that's a great thing.

Am looking forward to a nice workout this weekend at the gym. These days if I get any gym time, it's usually on the weekend.

Have a great Friday everyone........

Rod, I am sure your dad enjoyed spending the evening with you and Charlie. That restaurant sounds great and how funny Charlie had to go buy the alcohol to accompany your dinner. How wonderful that your brother and 2 nephews will be coming down for your dad’s upcoming 90th birthday. What a milestone for him too. Enjoy your time at the gym this weekend.

I am hungry and yawning. Aak.

Hi all!

What a wonderful day! We're having a reprieve from the snow and cold. It's 65 outside. The excruciating tooth pain is gone. Ahhh, how nice. I can think again. I have had 3 root canals now, all on molars. This one took the longest, and I had more shots this time too. He ran into some problems when he got in there, but he got everything taken care of. Thank goodness for Endodontists! The left side of my face is a little swollen today and I'm sore from all the shots, but I'll take that over tooth pain any day. I'm looking forward to being able to eat something tasty for dinner tonight. I plan to enjoy a tall, cold beer with dinner and something with ice cream on it for dessert! That tooth has been sensitive to cold for a whole year, and cold has been completely out of the question for the last week. Geezzz - I'm getting all excited about dinner! Matt and I are planning to head to the outlets in Ohio this afternoon. I don't really need anything, but I'm sure I'll come home with a purse from the Coach outlet. It's a nice day, so we'll get plenty of walking in. I'll be sure to wear my pedometer so I can verify the benefits of shopping from an exercise standpoint.

marcy - I hope Marty likes his new phone. I absolutely love my iphone 4. I wish I would have upgraded sooner. My parents are like your mom when it comes to the phone. They have one phone between the two of them, and for a long time my nephew referred to it as the "technologically challenged" phone. He finally got them to take one of his hand-me-down phones, which I think is one of the first RAZR phones. I still don't have my bat phone back. Hee-hee! That would be so awesome to have so many rhr's! I have 3. One is a 5-stone Hearts on Fire band, one is a rhodolite garnet set in my old 3/4 eternity ering setting, and the last is the 3/4 eternity band that went with the ering.

rod - I'm so sorry for your tough day. That's great that your brother and nephews are flying down to celebrate your dad's birthday. I'm sure he will love that! That's funny that the restaurant didn't sell wine or beer. Were they okay with you bringing it back? Did you have to sneak? I'm glad to hear you dad was in pretty good spirits. He has had a lot to adjust to the past few months. I hope you get some gym time in this weekend. Work going well?

Have a good weekend!

HI gang: :wavey:

Still to cold for this old gal to ski, so did the restorative yoga class instead. Lovely.

Hope the weekend warms up so my son and I can hit the slopes! I'll take a mental "picture" of it for you Rod and send it your way! hheeheeheheeeeeeeeeee

Hi everyone! :wavey:

I love short days at work. My boss let us go 2 hours early. I went over to visit my parents for awhile, picked up a little cash and some snacks for a card game tonight. I just sent Marty a note and asked him to bring us a few tacos for supper.

Deegee, I am delighted to hear you are feeling so much better. Enjoy your beer and ice cream. Ooh to bringing home a new Coach. Sweet. Walking outlets malls can always burn a few calories for you. Glad to hear you are having some nice weather. Your RHR’s sound lovely. I love rhodolite garnets. I don’t want to “admit” how many RHR’s I have.

Sharon, I hope the weather warms up so you and your son can hit the slopes.

Have a great weekend.

Hi!

We didn't make it to the outlets on Friday but we did go yesterday. I didn't even go in the Coach store because I could see from the outside that the line to check out was insane, and I'm sure there wasn't a thing in there I was willing to stand in a line like that for. I found some good things in Ann Taylor, Nautica & Eddie Bauer, and Matt and I spent a bunch of money at GoldToe on socks. The current sock drawer is going to get a good cleaning out. I bought a cute pair of boots at Clarks, but darn it... I don't need more boots, but I can't seem to help myself! On the way home we stopped to eat at Tumbleweed, which is a Tex-Mex restaurant. I got my tall cold beer and we split a fudge brownie dessert with icecream. Yummy. Today we headed to KY for our Sunday family dinner. It was nice enough outside (40's) that Matt and the kids played wiffleball and football. He and Lily got lots of running in, so they're both sacked out right now. My tooth is actually really bothering me today. The endodontist told me it would be really sore for a few days due to the little complication he ran into, but I wasn't expecting it to be this sore! Still, it's better than nerve pain so I shouldn't complain. I'm off tomorrow for President's Day, so woo-hoo! Have a great week everyone!

Deegee, I think Coach has a 30% off everything sale going on right now so I bet that is why the lines were so long. I agree with you tho - there isn't many things I'd wait in that kind of line to buy. I did chuckle when I saw you bought new boots - you mentioned before you love to collect those. I hate to hear your tooth is hurting but at least it's not nerve pain. Get better. We have today off too so we both slept in and I made waffles for breakfast.

We've had a pretty lazy weekend. I bought groceries yesterday and picked up a 5 pound roast to cook today. I should be able to get a lot of leftovers from that. We are going to run out and get a case for Marty's iPhone and maybe stop by Lowes. Marty saw a commercial where they will give you 10% of your tax refund if you spend it there. We are going to get new carpet in the living room and hallway and some laminate for the kitchen dining room. That would be nice to get the additional 10% put in for us. I need to file my taxes though before we can do that.

Marty made marinated steak and pasta for us yesterday. We have the Cuisinart stainless steel pans with the stay cool handles. Being the blonde I am I NEVER put them in the oven because I know I will just try to pick them out of the oven without a pot holder. Well you guessed it - Marty put the steak in the oven after he browned it and picked it out of the oven 30 minutes later without using a pot holder. He has 2nd degree burns on all of his finger tips, across his palm and huge blisters on the right side of his index finger and the outside of his palm. He used an ice bag for most of the day and it finally quit hurting really bad before he went to bed. They'll be okay now until the blisters pop then they will probably hurt again. I felt so bad for him. He dropped the pan and steak on the floor. I rinsed the steak really good with hot water and then I browned it again. I told him "that's true love". And he said "what is?" I said "That I'd eat something that he dropped on the floor" - being OCD about dirt, food and germs. He always makes such a mess of the kitchen I told him when he was cooking he had to do the dishes. So when I was doing the dishes I gave him a hard time he didn't have to go to that kind of extreme to get me to do the dishes for him. He says they don't hurt much this morning.

I finished another Connelly book and am now 60% through another one. I only have 2 more of his to read. Rats.

Take care.
Marcy
