Yesterday I had Fedex pick up a box that was going back to WF. It contained my e-ring for the upgrade I'm doing.
As of right now, tracking info. is still showing that the package is awaiting pick-up.

The driver scanned it right in front of me, but for whatever reason it didn't make it into their system.

Because my hubs has an account with Fedex, it shows that a package was in fact picked up yesterday, but that's it. It doesn't associate the pick up with the tracking number.

I have a bad feeling about this, and because the package wasn't scanned into Fedex's system, it may not be covered under WF's insurance.

I called this morning and they opened a claim. Was told someone would call me back, but of course no one has.
Feeling physically sick over this. I mean what are the chances that it really won't get there???

Has this happened to anyone here before?

It wasn’t jewelry related but I had made a hefty online purchase. So I was tracking anxiously. It showed delayed and stuck. My doorbell rang and it was the package they showed delayed. Several hours later my phone went beserk with notifications showing updated status.

Another similar incident, I ordered a $1,500 laptop and it showed as stuck at the FedEx station. I wanted it that day so went to pickup and they said they didn’t have. When I got home, I noticed they delivered while I was gone.

About 1.5 year ago, I ordered a 77” LG OLED tv from a website called GreenToe. The way they work is you make an offer and they network with their retailers to see if anyone will accept your price. Normal price was around $4,500 so I made a stupid lowball offer and found someone in NJ to accept. I used a CC for protection and proceeded with the order. It took about 3 weeks to arrive. The retailer sent fast but it came via a semi truck and tracking was absolutely horrible and slow. But it was within the 3-4 week window promised. It was brand new and perfect. Honestly I kept waiting for the hammer to drop on me but it never did. It was as simple as they advertised.

I mention all this to say that yes, stuff gets lost but sometimes our own nerves get the best of us when it’s something of high value or that is super important to us.

I think you were wise to report but try to relax and let the system work itself out.

Fedex ground picked it up instead of Fedex express. apparently that makes a difference.
WF is gonna call to let me know if they got it or not today. They're supposed to but we'll see.

I dunno, I understand that realistically there's a slim chance it got lost/stolen. Still, there's a sinking feeling in my stomach that something went wrong. Fingers crossed they get the package today like they're supposed to.

Easier said than done, but I try to tell myself no use in worrying until I have to worry...

Nothing to offer except all the good vibes dust for a delivery to WF today!!!

First off, WF is good people, so I am sure they'll work with you whatever the outcome.

Also, as a large volume shipper with Fedex (not nearly as large volume as a place like WF though), this stuff does happen.

If it's any consolation to you, I've had lots of FedEx packages take a wonky detour, get delayed, not show up on tracking, but nothing (knock on wood) has ever been outright just lost.

What a gut wrenching feeling!!! I don’t trust any shipping carriers anymore. My mom once witnessed UPS take my $10,000 engagement ring that had (no joke) 15 “SIGNATURE NEEDED” red stickers on it. The UPS guy scanned it and literally threw the box basketball style into our front yard and drove off. While my mom was watching out the kitchen window. They didn’t even TRY to knock and get a signature. And this is with a special vendor UPS account too.

More recently I ordered my husband a very expensive cello and bow, to be delivered via FedEx. It went MIA. I’m thinking, how does a box the size of a coffin go MIA? The seller spent 2 hours on the phone with FedEx. It miraculously showed up within a week, with no tracking information from the time it was sent from Chicago to when it arrived in SoCal. Maybe it was delivered Pony Express? Maybe the cello fairies flew it over? We will never know.

I am so sorry you’re going through this and hope it gets sorted out. :( please keep us updated.

Not once since COVID have I had any carrier actually require my signature on a signature required shipment. Even for alcohol (feel free to pass that bit of wisdom on to your favorite teen).

This wouldn't have helped the OP, but when I'm receiving valuable packages, I am a huge fan of the FedEX "hold for pickup" at a FedEx location. They should be able to at least get the package to their OWN OFFICE, and then you have to go there and show id to pick it up.

It is an utter mystery to me why carrier tracking updates nearly always lag the actual whereabouts of a package, especially in this day and age of internet access for everything and instant updates.

@elle_chris - I've had lots of packages go off the radar, but they all have eventually shown up within a reasonable approximation of the original delivery estimates, so hang in there. I returned a shipment to WF and handed it over in person to my local UPS Customer Center and watched them scan it, and it still didn't update online for nearly 24 hours. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It made it to WF just fine.

My E ring story was eons before Covid, but yes I agree. Since covid I haven’t had to actually sign. I too am a big fan of FedEx hold at location. But apparently choosing this option can cause further shipping delays, per the FedEx office themselves. :( crazy given the speed of technology nowadays!

Not with FedEx, but a few months ago, I was returning a high value item via UPS. The driver was loading up his truck so I was told to just hand it to him. He scanned the package and put it in his truck. I didn't get a receipt like I would have if I had had it scanned at the counter. Their website ended up not updating for a day or two. I started panicking that maybe they were all in cahoots and didn't actually scan my package into the system and now I'm SOL. But the package arrived safely and all was well. So my point is, tracking nowadays still isn't the most reliable. But most packages turn up where they're supposed to go.

Thanks all.

Vera from Whiteflash was able to escalate it to someone who contacted the Fedex shipping center where I guess it was supposed to have left from. The manager winded up finding the package. It was never shipped.

He scanned it into their system and their tracking finally updated. WF should have the package tomorrow.

It was reassuring reading all your stories, albeit scary as well. Glad in the end, everyone got their items though.

I still won't be completely comfortable until WF calls and tells me they're actually holding my ring.
But at least I'll be able to sleep tonight.

I know this isn't the journey you wanted to be on, but I am thankful they found the package and taking corrective actions. As my Apple watch likes to tell me, "deep breaths", lol.

Have a cup of tea and something nice to eat
its in the hands of the Gods once its left your hands
Lets just all stay positive and it will arrive as expected and all will be well
