I have them set as stud earrings and while I do love them, I've had an itch over the last year to go bigger. The reason for considering selling them outright is that I haven't had much luck finding a matched pair with the specs I want at BGD, so I checked out the WF and CBI inventories where I found some good options. But if I go that route, I'm left with the question of what to do with this pair, so I'm wondering 1) if there is any interest in these diamonds from anyone in the PS community and 2) what would be a fair price to ask if I do sell them?

They are currently set in 4-prong platinum baskets with La Pousette backs, but I did have the posts shortened so they would sit better in my ears.

Closest comps I can find are a tiny bit smaller, but range from $1300-1600 each (anything larger I found was 0.5ct or more and there is quite the price hike at that 0.5ct mark).

That is a pink spinel cut by Jeff White.

I should probably update the avatar because I sold that stone with the ring it was in awhile back, but I've left it as a reminder that I need something else pink to replace it. Ooh me too please. I have a similar pair from BGD that I’ve been looking to upgrade in lower colours, but they haven’t been stocking matched pairs in those sizes...

I haven't really settled on an asking price. Not being certain on how to price them was a big part of the reason for my original post; I was hoping people with more pre-loved experience than I've got would chime in with some ideas or a reasonable range for what to expect. From what I can tell, they would cost somewhere around $3000 new for diamonds + platinum settings (maybe a bit more as these are slightly larger than the closest comps I can find), but I'm definitely not expecting that much because I would never personally pay full retail for something on the secondary market. That said, I don't want to fire sale them either at 50% off retail.

Some additional details for those who are interested

BGD did the original martini settings, which I no longer have because the posts were re-purposed for the basket settings. The basket settings and shortening of the posts was done at a local (to me) jeweler Continental Diamond in St Louis Park, MN https://www.continentaldiamond.com/ (also a CBI retailer). The posts are approx. 8mm long with the notches for the backs at about 5.2mm and 6.8mm.

I don't know which diamond goes to which photo, but here are some closeups through the loupe of both of them.

Have you reached out to BGD to see if they would buy them back? G vS specs are desirable.

No, I didn't think that would be an option based on their published policies, but it is worth trying. Worst they can do is say no at which point I'm no worse off than I am today, and I'm sure I have Lesley's contact info somewhere...

I just assumed that vendor trade in wasn't a viable option after I tried emailing WF about trading them in for larger ACA's which would have been over 2x what I paid for these and never got a response, but this thread ( https://www.pricescope.com/communit...for-owners-of-non-whiteflash-diamonds.241405/ ) popped up about 2 weeks later, so I figured that was the response I would have gotten from WF directly. And to be fair to WF, I have purchased from them and was perfectly happy with the service. The email re: trading in the studs was sent to their generic email and not a specific sales rep. Any direct emails to a specific sales rep at WF have always gotten a response.

My local store said they could possibly take them on consignment, so I sent over the certs/specs, but I don't have high hopes for what they would offer (I should have a number today). My SA there said I would be better off repurposing the stones or selling privately vs consignment through them because of consignment fees, etc.

If nothing works out with those who have expressed interest so far, then I will likely create an actual listing for the studs (unless BGD would buy them back) - but with several potentially interested parties on PS, I don't want to advertise them too much on LT so for now I've just created a LT listing with my contact info https://loupetroop.com/listings/other/contact-info-for-mn-shopaholic-from-ps if there are any questions/comments.

To follow up on this for those who have enquired about pricing ( @hathalove @Wewechew @OboeGal @Crystal_Dreams @Golden_bird ); based on feedback received, I was thinking around $2200 or so (open to reasonable offers). Using https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3999709.htm and https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/.../0.440-g-vs1-round-diamond-bkags-104092974051to calculate price per carat, the retail cost for my two diamonds would be around $2900 plus a few hundred for the platinum settings = 3200x70% = 2240

BGD is still checking with management as to whether or not they can/will buy them back (I'm several years outside the one year buy-back period posted on their FAQ), so I'm holding off on creating a LT listing for the earrings until I know 1) if there is a buy-back option and 2) that those who have expressed interest so far here have been given right of first refusal. Posting here to answer a few questions received via email.
- The current basket settings are #24348 from Stuller and they use a 95% platinum alloy with cobalt
- I asked for the diamonds to be set low in the baskets; martinis on me kept drooping so the whole point of the re-set was to get something that would sit flush and not protrude too far. The diamonds have a depth of about 3.1mm and total height from the bottom of the basket to the top of the table is approx. 4.35mm (this might be a bit off as it was tough to get this measurement working around the earring post).

BUMP. The first time I was going to sell these, my aunt passed away unexpectedly and there were a few other life events/ matters in a short span of time that needed my attention in August/September. Unfortunately, while all of that was going on, the diamonds I had originally been considering for an upgrade sold to someone else, so I put the whole project on hold. I have now found another pair of diamonds that I would love for an upgrade so if anyone is interested at all, here is the LT listing
