I am thinking of remodeling this ring. I was intending to just scrap the setting for the gold, but before I do that (if anyone is interested), I can ask if the center stone can be removed safely to be reused. I would have Sako do this.

The sides are rose cuts, and they measure about 4.5ish millimeters in the setting. The setting is currently a 6.75.

If there is any interest in the setting, I can ask if my centerstone can be removed safely to allow a new center to be placed in it.

The current centerstone is an OEC, 7.32 x 7.37 x 4.44.

If there is any interest in the setting, I can ask about the removal of the stone and stone tolerance size.

Thanks!

@elizat please disregard my earlier question. Your ring is so beautiful but I know I am too hard on my rings to do 22k gold. Thank you and best of luck with a quick sale!

I'm interested. I will have to pull out my cert to see the size of my stone but I know it's in the 1.5 ct neightborhood. What is your asking price? The idea of melting this is... heartbreaking.

Let me check with Sako on making sure the stone can be removed safely and the size tolerance. Once I have that answer I will post a price as well.

@Clunkygirl I know! I didn't really want to melt it either, but it is honestly probably the one ring that I look at that I feel does not fit in well with the rest of mine.

Yes, don’t scrap that beauty! I have a 7.5 round brilliant looking for a home and would be interested if it would fit.

Could you also ask how much the ring could be sized up?

I will also ask that question. I think sizing should be fairly flexible, as the shank is plain.

Way too pretty to scrap! I love how low it sits on your finger!

I have the perfect stone for this setting and I’m interested too! It be a perfect fit! Excited to hear more!

Waiting to hear back on the size tolerance, saving the bezels, and sizing.

It is the Jaime setting.

On her Etsy site, in platinum, it is $2295. This is 22kt v platinum. For pricing, I'd do the same as platinum, even though 22kt is higher in price per gram.

Current pricing on platinum is $39.13 per gram today, and 22k gold is $51 per gram today. So, there is a bit of a discount built in on top of the discount from the setting, due to the metal prices.

The setting, without any stones, would be $1550.

The rose cuts appear to be 5mm each measuring in the bezel, edge to edge, as best I can tell. I am confirming with Caysie the size of the rose cuts. I am open to selling the setting with or without them, but they are a great matched pair.

If you would be interested in the rose cuts intact, I'd have to get more details on the stones first to make sure my pricing is accurate for the size of the stones and details.

I'm definitely interested in the ring with the rose cuts!

Okay, no problem! I expected some folks would be. I think they are 5 mm and I am waiting on Caysie to confirm size and quality of the rosies! Measuring on the outside of the bezel is not as accurate as I would like to be, so hopefully she has it. If not, what I can do is post pictures of how I did my measurements so everyone can see.

I'm still interested with and without, depends on my side stones fitting.

Yes, and I’d be interested with.

My center is 7.34x7.44 and but my sides are 0.75 ct each oec/omc so probably a little smaller than a round though it's looking like they'd be the same or a tad under? So that didn't really help, lol. If Redwoods passess I would be interested in hearing more. I almost want to buy a yellow center!

I think they'd be really similar probably.

Hopefully Caysie will see the message today. Sako will probably get back to me today about everything else though. He's usually pretty prompt.

I think a yellow center would actually really pop! Or ruby or sapphire with the deep tone of the gold.

Part of the reason I want to remodel this is because I don't think that the q/r color of my OEC is done any favors by the 22kt. I prefer a q/r in platinum personally.

I understand but I think it looks gorgeous!

I’m in too! I have a precision cut stone from Gene that would be gorgeous!

I’d also be curious to make sure it can be sized down to a 6. I’d imagine it should be fine.

I’m dreaming of putting this stone in it (it needs the protection of a bezel — low on Mohs scale) and is the perfect size.

Update:

Sako says he can remove the center diamond safely and the setting can be reused. He is also willing to set someone's center stone in the mounting as well and size as needed. It is 22kt gold, so you need a bench that is pretty skilled to work with it.

I would highly- highly- recommend that you have Sako set the stone and size it. He does all my work. Also, it makes sense from the perspective of shipping too, because he can send you a label for your stone to send to him and add to the invoice, so your stone is insured in transit to him. Plus, the setting will be with him, so it's convenient and avoids shipping multiple times.

For setting tolerance, he said to stick as close to my measurements as possible, but if you have a specific measurement, I can ask him.

For sizing, he says yes, sizable. However, not from a 6.75 to a 12 for example. You could go up or down a size on each side easily, but if you have a specific size you want me to ask him about, I'll ask. You can also put sizing pads in this ring to take down a half size without actually sizing it.

Waiting on final details of the rose cuts, but Caysie said they are 5.25 mm rose cuts (makes sense because when I tried to measure a second time edge to edge inside the bezel, I got 5 mm), high domed matched pair. I am waiting on the details of the color/clarity from her.

I heard back from Caysie on stone details. They are g/h color, VS clarity, 5.25 mm each, high domed matching rose cuts.

Details below on how I came up with pricing below for the rose cuts, but in case TLDR:

Setting, metal only, priced at platinum cost, with a discount built in for the more expensive metal (platinum price instead of 22k), plus discount off list price: 1550

Rose cut diamonds: 1570

Total price of the setting, with the matching 5.25 high domed rose cuts included: $3120

I will ship for free in the US, insurance included OR if you want to have Sako set your stone and do one stop shopping, I'll give a credit for no shipping and offer it at $3000.

Here's how I came up with pricing below- keeping in mind rose cuts vary a ton on quality, cut, matched pair and they have become a LOT more expensive over the years.

For pricing, I found these stones and they are pretty similar (the ones in the ring are nicer honestly):

I also found these and they don't look as nice- and they aren't VS as advertised. You can see inclusions with the naked eye, but they are a similar size and look to be near colorless.

Anueva Jewelry sells similar loose stones that are 6 mm at over $1600 per stone!

From what I can see, pricing for similar stones, even the ones that don't look as nice and have inclusions, ranges from $685 to $885, to ones that look more like the ones in the ring.

Given that, I think a fair price for the matching rose cuts in ring is $785 per stone and it would be significantly more if purchased through a vendor that works with Misfit Diamonds and supplies through them, even if it was a "salt and pepper" rose cut. I found salt and pepper rose cuts in similar sizes selling at over $750-$900 per stone.

Example of stones through Misfit pricing:

different shape, but similar clarity and color, not too far off in size:

That said, please let me know if anyone is still interested with the pricing!

This is honestly kind of an insanely low price for a really-well-made, super-high-karat, reusable-without-drama setting with top quality matched rosies - those rose cuts are FAR under fair retail.
Someone on PS needs to rehome this intact!!

Disclaimer: I already told elizat that I thought she was listing them way too low!!

Have you considered selling it with the center stone as is? The ring is my size already

I have, but well cut OEC stones are hard to find and getting even harder to find. I would prefer to keep the stone, because it is so well cut.

If I did sell the ring as a whole, it would be substantially more than the setting cost. The center is a 1.5 q/r OEC, VS1and essentially, a perfect stone in terms of faceting.

With the discount on the setting metal, the discount for the preloved setting, and the discount on the rose cuts, I would not discount the diamond at all, due to the other discounting already applied.

So what would the total be - if you were to sell it ?

I would have to look into it and shop comps. I found a similar carat weight stone on Old World Diamonds, but my stone has a much prettier appearance and is more visually pleasing. That stone was over $4100.

So, my price for the complete ring would be at least $7300, but likely more, due to my stone being a nicer stone.

Those rose cuts are priced very low as well already and I based the setting price on platinum, not 22k gold (ring is solid 22k).

I just sent you a message on DB.
