So I said I wanted a diamond upgrade.

Seriously, we are not in a financial position right now where we can afford to upgrade the TV or my diamond, but in the last month, FI must have mentioned getting a bigger TV every other day!

It was driving me nuts, and the wheels started turning... Last night, he mentioned it yet again, so I set my plan in motion...

Anchor: *attempts to look innocent* "If you get a bigger TV, can I get a bigger rock?"
Anchor''s FI: *looks puzzled* "You already have a rock."
Anchor: "You already have a TV."
Anchor''s FI: *stares at Anchor* "..."
Anchor: *giggles triumphantly*
Anchor''s FI: *looks sheepish* "It''s not the same thing..."
Anchor: "Is it? You may not see the point in getting a bigger rock, but I don''t see the point in getting a bigger TV. The one we have now does a great job and is nicely sized."
Anchor''s FI: *makes puppy-dog eyes* "But, if it was bigger, it''d be even better."
Anchor: * imitates his puppy-dog eyes while flashing her e-ring* "Well, if it was bigger, it''d be even better."
Anchor''s FI: "Ok, ok, I get it."
Anchor: "Hah!"

Even though we both know that a TV or diamond upgarde is not in our near future, it was fun planting the upgrade seed in there... I highly recommend it!

My husband bought TWO new big tvs within the last few years. He gave one of them to me!!! lol I had wanted a RHR, but instead, I found a new LCD sitting in the bedroom for me

hahaha

He got himself a large plasma (not sure of the size) but it''s great watching movies on. I''d pick that over another diamond any day (well almost any day).

Hahahaha!!!! That was great! I loved the comparisons, so true!

Its actually worked the other way for us.

We have a really decent Dell computer. My husband wants a laptop so he can write his book in peace and quiet. He knew I wouldn''t agree to this as our computer is really good and I could just get rid of the kids for a while if he really wanted some quiet.

He knew I was wanted a new setting for my diamond. He used this as leverage in his quest for a new laptop! In the end, he is getting one and I am upgrading my diamond!! Yey!!!

I know he wouldn''t have asked me if I wanted an upgrade if he didn''t want something for himself! I''m happy with the outcome though!

I would go for the TV, but that''s just me. I work in the entertainment industry and I''m always looking for a bigger and better entertainment experience at home... when my at home experience surpasses the movie theater experience, I''ll be extremely happy, and not until then... well... let''s make that when my at home experience and my jewelry collection gets to a satisfying size (is there such a thing?) THAT is when I''ll be extremely happy :-) hehe

I definitely can understand why so people would go for the TV. However, I must be lacking the "bigger TV is better" gene, because I am quite content with what we have now. My dad acquired a widescreen HD TV about a year ago and I see no difference between HD and regular image... Then again, I lived over 2 years without a TV (and didn''t miss it!), so having one isn''t even a priority for me!

I just got me new setting, and we needed a TV (when I say needed our is doing glitchy things since the move out west). Well, I got the re-set, and we still have the TV. Although to be fair, we are going to get a new TV early 2008. But still, the bling came first.

I grew up not being allowed to watch TV so I don''t get the big deal either. Sure enough, we do have a flat screen or whatever, but I didn''t play a part in that. Best Buy is like evil.

I tried this but he just still didn''t get it. I got the "well, a TV is practical and a ring is not so I''m willing to wait until ours dies and then get a bigger one." He just spent about $1,300 on a new computer (we already have a laptop but he wants a desktop as well) and then gave me a look when I bought a tiny little OEC I''d been admiring for less than $250. No matter how hard I try he just doesn''t get that my jewellery is like his electronics, which he''s readily admitted outdate and need expensive replacing often.

OMG, that''s classic. Kinda like getting a bowling ball for your birthday, only its 16 pounds and drilled for his hands, LOL! I don''t know why but that''s what I immediately thought of!

Well, at least you get to enjoy it, too.

omg, anchor31, you just won me some major leverage for future sparklies...you see, my dh once drove from chicago to ohio with a 70 INCH badboy in the back of his truck, which he "surprised" me with at 1:30am, so i will share your story with him!...hee hee men truly want so little don''t they? but, i must say, the picture truly is bad-a$$

Yes, diamonds should be on the other hand, too!

I totally agree about the TV. Why do I need to see a person''s head bigger than in real life?!

anchor, your FI sounds EXACTLY like my hubby. We went shopping for a new dishwasher last week and were tossing up between 2 different ones with a price difference of about $500. I commented that if we got the cheaper one (predominantly because I don''t give a hoot and will rarely use it!) it''s $500 towards that giant 70 inch LCD over there for our impending Home Theatre - I WAS kidding - (for which I actually want a screen and projector, but you know... what would I know
20.gif
) His little eyes lit up like christmas trees! We went over and priced it... despite the fact that $500 doesn''t even cover the DEPOSIT on this gargantuan thing, it''s the next major household purchase on the cards.

Now how did that happen?!?!?!?!?

He justifies it because he just finished painting all my feature walls for me

Bummer. I hope you can get through him eventually...
