finding a setting is hard!

My fiance and i have been searching for a setting for a diamond i have from my grandmother. We found a setting we liked at Bulgari but alas they would not sell it to us! (does anyone know why?) It is called the ''Griffe'' and is really quite simple. If you know a craftsman in NYC who will be able to recreate this well, or if you know of a place to find a setting like this, please let me know. It''s been a few months of serching now and all i seem to find are stock settings.

That is a beautiful setting, but it looks like something that could be custom made relatively easily. I would get an estimate from Whiteflash if you can''t get it locally. There are many vendors such as Tiffany''s who simply do not choose to sell their settings wtihout their own diamonds.

At a place like Bulgari you are buying the entire RING not just the setting. None of those places will sell you a setting only.

There is a setting that reminds me of that one in that it is very sleek and has a 4 prong basket.

I think that the options posted by diamondseeker and jstar are definitely worth checking out. Knox handled my recent reset and I was very pleased. And GOG has an excellent reputation. Oh, and you are in NYC. Good Old Gold is on Long Island. If they have the setting, you could check it out!

I''ve looked at the settings you sent and they are very nice, but i would like to get an idea of what it would take to have a custom setting made. I''ve already sent a request to Whiteflash; can anyone recommend a reliable store in Manhattan which can make settings?

David S Diamonds, 9 West 47th Street though they are about to move about a block down on Fifth. They will create a wax replica that you can approve before the ring is made. I highly recommend them. And since they created the Solasfera you can probably get a quote for that too!
