Finding quality Zultanite/Diaspore

I've seen some color change diaspore on the Gem Select website, but could not say if it is high quality or not.

@Snapdragon 1010 There are alot of fakes out there and it can be very included material. Stick to highly reputable suppliers!

Oh no! Thanks for the heads up! Do you have any suggestions? I'm very very new in the field of looking for and finding quality gems and need all the help I can get.

@Snapdragon 1010 Take a look at the list of recommended vendors pinned in this forum in the first instance.
Is it loose stones you are after rather than finished pieces?

The problem I have with that vendor list is that I recently found a sapphire from the national sapphire company, which is on that list and now I'm hearing not so favorable things about that company from people on here. I'm so new that I worry. I suppose it just takes time to research and learn. Do you know anything about Gem Select? Thanks for your help.

Whatever you do, do not buy under fancy marketing names. The vendors that typically use them, charge many times more than those selling it as “ diaspore.” I have seen marketing names like Zultanite or Czarite, in order to make it sound like a super fancy rare gem. These vendors typically charge the most.

As a word of advice, If you’re seeing RIDICULOUS color change...as in from apple green to raspberry pink to champagne yellow — it’s probably synthetic/treated glass. I have never seen real diaspore achieve that.

He's a good guy and a trustworthy vendor. Just did a transaction w him that I ended up returning and he was awesome and understanding
