I received my mother/child pendant today and I just love it!
This piece of jewelry is so important to me. I got the stones from Barry probably ten years ago. He supplied most of my first gemstones and I have fond memories of our correspondence.
It’s really bad that I hold onto my gems for so long before deciding to do anything with them. I always pictured these two stones together, but wasn’t sure how or what type of jewelry. They are both around 8 mm and each is almost 3 carats. A Pakistani peridot and Malaya garnet.
Fast forward to this year….after many years of trying, I finally gave birth to my son and realized each stone is our birthstone! I knew I wanted to make a mother/child pendant. I wasn’t 100 percent sure what I wanted, but I’m so happy with how it turned out. It’s a substantial pendant in 18kt gold with my son’s initials and birthdate engraved on the back.
I liked a simple S/infinity design that really shows off the stones, but I wanted something a little extra. David did delicate milgrain all over the pendant and engraved the sides of the “S” with a beautiful design. The rest of the bezel I decided to do “open” with a filigree pattern because I wanted some light to hit the stones. I feel like they take center stage with the pendant, just the way I wanted it. I tried my best with pictures, but it’s so hard to capture!
