I bought plain wooden dolls, and painted them :)

Backstory: My fiance and I met through the taekwondo club in college, we were on the competition team together, saw each other 8 hours a week during practice, and have many mutual friends in the club. It was a big part of our college lives, and a big part of our early romance as well. So I painted the toppers to be us in our taekwondo uniforms (note that we will match our wedding palette. He''ll be in a black tux, me in a white dress with red accents).

Yay! These were really fun to do, and now I get to have very personal caketoppers. We are inviting many of our club friends from college and I think they will love it.

Aww these are SO cute! What a great idea! You are so creative and talented! I totally love them.

A-dorable!!!

Oh my gosh. Open an Etsy shop, please! I would totally buy one of these from you

Think you can make a boy in a pharmacists white coat & a girl in a business suit... or else a bride & groom in indie-rock t-shirts? You have a ready & waiting purchaser!

Wow, they look great!

I love it when cake toppers tell a backstory!

A friend of mine met her husband when they were neighbours so on their cake was a fance with them standing on either side checking each other out.. it was the talk of the night!

I like quirky, and I enjoy DIYing what I can for the wedding to make it seem more personal, so I loved doing these! I''ve never painted on rounded surfaces, much trickier than what I''m used to with flat canvas, but very fun!

My friends joke that when my fiance and I fight, we literally fight. :) I once kicked him in the head (he''s 6 inches taller than me so it''s hard) and I was so happy, and our friends thought it was hilarious. They loved it when we were paired off in competitions, haha.

Don''t worry, we get along great outside the ring :) We''re actually both very laid back people, so we rarely find things to argue about.

Haha, I would totally do it for just the cost of shipping since I ordered extra dolls for practice (don't think I'll use them though). but that would be breaking pricescope rules. Otherwise I'd love to help out a fellow bride-to-be!

They aren't hard to paint. But if you're interested in one, you can get them on etsy custom painted for you. I bought my blank dolls from her, but they paint them as well.

Personally, I"d buy the blank dolls (I bought 14 and a cakestand for 25$) and just ask a crafty friend to paint them with some acrylic or craft paint. It didn't take very long at all.

Those are just so adorable! Well done!!

They are soooo cute!!

THose are so freaking adorable!!! I love how they''re totally *you*. Great job!

I was just looking at the blank dolls yesterday because a friend of mine was asked to make cake toppers for another friend. Yours are absolutely adorable and I love how they''re totally customized!!!! You are so talented!

Did you use marker/pen to do the detailing?

MTG- Who knew you were so multitalented?? So cute! Nice job

I did all the detailing in ink, it was actually easier. It''s surprisingly tricky to draw on a rounded surface, lol, I found I was actually better with the brush!

Thanks for the compliments guys :)
I might paint our school mascot on the white base :)

Those are so cute! You did such a good job on them!

How cute!

Thanks! Hehe, Katamari was a fun game.

I''m thinking of embellishing the white base a bit. I was thinking a small bluejay head (our college mascot), or just the college name around the border, what do you think?

VERY cute - what a sweet idea
