I was on the hunt for an east-west oval ring and found a version with a rose cut instead of brilliant cut at a trusted local jeweler. I definitely wanted brilliant, and they recommended going custom and making the ring itself a bit sturdier for durability. They happened to have 2 stones that fit the bill. I chose the J, 0.44 ct, SI2, instead of the G, 0.48 ct, VVS2, based on their recommendation. I saved $400 and really, really like the stone.
