So yesterday I''m confiming the links on our wedding website work properly, as the invitations go out next week, and I click on our "registries" link. I thought to myself that I should probably look them over anyway to make sure we still want what I put up there months ago etc. Well, I was absolutley so excited when I saw that someone had bought us our first wedding-related gift!!!!!!! It seems we will soon be the proud owners of a very cute cuisinart food processor!!!!!! And I checked today and someone bought all of our Wilton rubber bakeware!!!!!!!!!!

I told FI and he was very excited as well but asked me to not tell him in the future when things get purchased as he''d like to be surprised.

Darn it!! I guess I''ll have to come here everytime instead

we have got to get off our duffs and register,

a cuisinart sounds like a fab idea (we are struggling, as we don''t need much)

thanks for the idea :-)

Isn''t registry stalking fun!?!

Registry stalking is SO fun! I seem to have this innate sense of when to check them! But our shower invites for our TX shower are going out this week so I really need to stay away for the next month so I can be surprised at the shower! We''ll see what happens!

Yeah, I haven''t stalked for several hours yet and I''m actually proud of myself!

Bed and Bath really does a nice job wrapping it all up, I must say. Pretty gray/silver wrapping paper and all :)

We were/are very excited!!!!!!

Now, I hear it''s okay to use gifts as they come in, right? We want to write a thankyou note that says something like "we loved using it it to chop/grind up xyz".

Traditionally, no. Shower gifts, yes; Wedding gifts, no.

Of course, how you follow that is up to you. If it''s from someone in your generation, they probably won''t care. I just got a carafe from a bridesmaid and told her how much we enjoyed christening it with a lovely red. However the bowls and vases and crystal from my mom''s friends are still in the corner. Part of it is that it''s nice to have something to look forward to, part of it is that I feel weird using them just yet. In your thank you notes, talk about how much you look forward to using it to make your favorite dish.

Yea, so I''m totally stalking now that the first shower invites have gone out. Oddly, the first gifts purchased were our everyday glasses. So weird! Two sets by two different people! And next went the beer glasses! I suppose we will have plenty to drink out of!!! Luckily somebody also bought the blender so at least we can make margaritas!!

Haha! I know what you''re talking about. My napkin rings were bought. No napkins, just the pretty silver rings. I was so excited but then.......also slightly confused

Especially since the napkins and rings are listed next to eachother on BBB''s registry and the napkins are not the very expensive kind (they were like BBB''s brand or something but in a pretty slate blue and machine washable).

I do not in any way mean this to sound ungrateful but it is just fun to see how people''s minds work when buying gifts from a registry. Like, when I look, I go immedieately for what I consider the "meaningful" stuff.....the picture frames, the nice drinkware, a beautiful platter etc. Stuff they''ll have around for a long time. I''d never buy a simplehuman garbage can if there were wine glasses left on the registry if they were the same price!!! lol

No worries tho.........it''s all so much fun!!!

Hehe, I loved registry stalking! How exciting!

I saw use it! Unless there is a chance you might not go through with the wedding

My DH''s cousin''s wedding was just called off (3 weeks before). She got cold feet. I feel so bad for him!

Sorry I meant to type say instead of saw. I was saying I think it is fine to start using wedding gifts early! I agree that BB&B does a really nice job shipping/wrapping/packaging....

Oh my
emcrook.gif
Sorry to hear that happened to your cousin and his fiance!

I see what you were saying now! We did open the cuisinart''s wrapping but we felt totally guilty in opening the actual box
emotion-40.gif
so it''s sitting there in our living room "unopened" and waiting.......... It felt so good to open that first (aka very special being our first and all) gift and we think we got it out of our systems so now we''ll wait until after the wedding. But it''s good to know using it if we "have" to is considered okay to do.

I guess it is better that is happened *before* the wedding. Still he is such a nice guy. I really don''t think she could do better. About the thank you note question I tried to make it specific too (we love using ____ or _____ is so beautiful. It looks perfect in our home) I think people like that. Makes their gift more meaningful. Are you still stalking your registry? My second baby shower is in three weeks and I have to keep myself from looking
