I''m a self-confessed luxury handbag addict! I think I''ve posted a little about my collection before, but my everyday "work bag" is either my quilted Marc Jacobs bag (black) or the Chloe Edith messenger in tobacco. I have a bright red D&G small shoulder bag for "fancy" nights out, and when I''m going casual I either wear my tobacco Chloe Paddington or my Botkier Bianca in black. When I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago I got a large LV travel tote that I also love and can''t wait to use! We are going to Ireland this weekend so I''ll have fun carrying that on the plane!!

Anyhow, I''ve adored Balenciaga for at least a couple of years and have FINALLY put myself on the waiting list for one! I''m in love with the City bag in red leather (I wish I knew the color name - it''s not bright red, but kind of deep red/orangeish), and I''m just convinced that will be my new "play" bag. I saw the Balenciagas first-hand at Selfridges yesterday and realized that''s what I''d been pining for so long! So why not? Unfortunately they didn''t have any of the red leather in stock, but they said they get shipments in quite frequently, so now I''m just waiting for that magic phone call ...!

So excited!!

Ok, I totally contradict my first post -- I just placed an order for the First in Rouille! I really really hope I love it as much as I think I will! I was originally thinking the City bag, but all of my bags are the City-ish size, and I thought maybe something a little smaller would be fun for my play/going-out bag.

That is a beautiful color. Good choice

have you ever bought their motorcycle bags? If so, are they big??????

HI:

I just saw the "rouge" in Palm Springs at Saks; and it was the first time I actually considered buying one of these bags....I love love love that red! Good luck on your choice/decision!

cheers--Sharon

i recently saw rouge vif at a neimans and it was TDF. i want one in a purse style, too bad it''s a discontinued style...my only hope is finding one on ebay or something at some point.

linda, the motorcycle line is very large in terms of styles, a bunch of PS''ers have the balenciaga motorcycle style bags, including myself, i have a Day bag which is very large and slouchy...i want a City next. the First, what Krissie is on the WL for is a much smaller bag than many of the B-bag styles. i think DF has a handful of them if not more...!

I love the reds. I think the color you are picking is also called tomato. I have a first in that color and I love it.

Does anyone know what is the deal with Diabro''s pricing? They are all different prices.

Yay - I have already received my bag from Diabro and it''s 100% authentic. The color (Rouille) is a lovely fall color - kind of a deep pumpkin. I can''t wait to use it

I got the First bag and while it will probably take a little while to get used to the size (most of my everyday bags are larger) I think the size makes sense for going out to dinner, bars, etc.

So, what is the deal with Diabro anyway? many of the colors they have on there are not necessarily from this season or last season, so where are they getting them? Balenciaga typically has a limited release of most colors per season and most stores aren''t authorized to carry the brand, so I''m surprised some random online place has them.

Last I heard any online retailer was not allowed to sell online either (aka Aloha Rag might have a list of bags they have in stock but you have to order offline and they are not allowed to have pictures of any of the bags or colors). The Diabro website to me looked really sketchy. Very curious.

I''d love to trust a website like that but in reality I probably will only ever get my bags from Bal NY or the local NM or Susan''s. I just don''t want to fork out $1k and even have one shred of doubt that it''s a fakey.

You know, I have no idea how it works, but I did authenticate the bag at Selfridges! They looked at the tags and color and confirmed it''s from the 2007 Fall collection. They also pointed out several indicators to show it''s authentic when compared to another 2007 First bag they had in stock.

I know what you mean about not trusting online retailers - I got a fake Chloe bag from Bluefly once - I think Bluefly is totally reputable and they just got screwed on a return. But it did give me pause, and my last few bags that I''ve bought have been in-person purchases!

Diabro called twice to confirm my order and they were very helpful to me. I would definitely purchase from them again.
