My husband bought me a 1 ct. round diamond in a Tiffany setting for our engagement. We found it impossible to find a band that looked good with it, so we bought a wrap-style band that consists of two .25 carat diamonds on each side. The finished ring is therefore a 1-ct diamond with a total of four .25-ct diamonds, two on each side, all in a straight line. The wrap and the engagement ring are soldered together.

I''ve had this ring for 7 months now and I hate to admit it but I really don''t care for the setting. It is "blah"-- and it looks cobbled together-- and the beauty of the engagement stone, which is much higher quality than the other 4, gets lost in this setting. My husband isn''t crazy about this setting, either. (We put the ring selection off until pretty soon before the wedding-- we should have looked around more.)

So I am looking for a new setting to place the diamonds in. Does anybody know of online sites that offer just the setting? Any tips on some really good web sites? How does that work-- do they send you the setting and you take it to a jeweler to place your diamonds in? Do you have any ideas for a setting that would work with these 5 stones?

Sorry for the million questions. As you can see, I am clueless. Thanks in advance for any help!

Do you have a picture?

I don't have a picture, but it basically looks like the ring pictured in this link-- only the center stone is larger and set up higher than the four other stones.

Here are some setting sites online:

www.whiteflash.com has a large setting collection, both branded and unbranded.

www.scottkay.com has alot of settings

www.vatche.com is another designer

www.mwmjewelry.com does excellent custom work

www.artofplatinum.com/http://www.leonmege.com Leon Mege's site also does excellent custom work & I think has others

www.adiamondisforever.com has TONS of settings in their virtual galleries by alot of different designers

www.tacori.com is another designer with alot of settings

You can also search online for diamond settings and see if you find something. I found tons of settings on various sites around the web which helped me determine what I liked best for my stone. Also, check out the 'Show me the Ring' forum here on Pricescope, tons of pictures of people's actual rings in there.

Hope that gets you started!

This is how your Nemesis looks like? If the stones would be of similar quality and set in line (without the center rised up), I'd probably fall in love at first sight. Oh well... If you want a new solitaire (or any e-ring model, actually) a visit at weddingband.com would produce a HUGE list of (rather expensive) designer settings. I had little to do with the shop, but no idea where one can find a bigger list of more or less common-place designers.

In my opinion, wraps never look the same as a band made in the same style. The stones are usually set tight together so they will go with most diamond cuts which takes away from the uniqueness of a single band look. The only other thing I can think of is the size of the side stones might not be setting off your center as much as it could be. I myself just got a brand new ring that is a 2.01ct with .27 sides and it looks fabulous together.(see attached picture),but that is my opinion I guess..lol.
