I'm considering wearing flip flops for both ceremony and reception now but I would like to see pics of those who have also chosen flip flops so that I can get over this sense that it'll look too casual. I really like that doing this would be very comfortable and most likely re-wearable and would make my walk down my grassy aisle alot less clunky :)

Just a note: I have seen the multitude of white sparkly-type flip flops so I realize they don't have to look like the ones I posted below but what I really need is to see them in the bridal context

Thank you for any pics you can share !!!

ETA: I love the shoe/bouquet/ring pro shots and I also wondered how silly that scene would look with flip flops lol. Maybe I could order some stand-ins just for those shots

I wore flip flops and was so glad I did. I was totally comfortable all night and no one who didn''t ask to see my shoes knew. My mom wasn''t too thrilled but she got over it. Here''s a shot of me in my dress. And I''ll post a shot of my shoes.

I don''t have any shots of my shoes on the day of, we didn''t take any.

Kim you look BEAUTIFUL!!!! What great flip flops too, neato

Put them on with your dress and see if people can actually even see them at all while you're walking, sitting, moving, etc.

Otherwise, I wonder if the "flip flop sound" would bother me as I was walking down the aisle. Dunno how noticeable it would be with all the other stuff (music, guests, being underneath the dress, etc) going on, though.

ETA: The would be totally great and hilarious if you ordered the fanciest pair of Manolos or something just to put in the picture, and then never wore them and returned them!

I honestly just thought of that!!! I''ve been drooooooling over Carrie''s Manolo''s on ebay lately and thought that very thought hee hee. But at $1k, that''s just not gonna happen! On a more affordable level tho.........I could consider doing this maybe thru Zappos as they offer a great return policy

Hey....if I never actually wore them then I''m not doing anything wrong, right?!! Okay....gotta stop this! I don''t want fake shoe pics!!!!! lol

Anyone have a pro pic with thier flip flops?

And, yes, the SOUND they could make is another thing that bothers me. Could you hear your shoes at all??????

i had regular heeled sandals for the wedding, walk down the aisle etc and pictures, and then for the reception everyone wore flip flops including me. mine were hot pink...all the girls got hot pink and the guys got blue. it was fun to do the pictures with the shoes then take them off and have fun at the reception. i personally am not the hugest fan of the flip flops with the traditional wedding dress combo, i am all for comfort and i have about 20 pairs of flip flops that i wear all the time but for my wedding i wanted to be a little more formal during the whole 'ceremony' and picture part...the fact that we were having it in hawaii on a beach was already very untraditional hehe. so if you feel like flip flops are too casual, then get a low heeled comfortable sandal...i walked on plumeria petals on grass in my heels and was not wobbly, but they were probably just a 2.5" heel and not a stiletto heel or anything so they were made for comfort yet style as well. or you could do heeled flip flops which could be kind of fun too. i also don't like the height that heels add to me, i am 5'7" but i love being more like 5'10"ish esp next to my husband who is about 6 feet, so i would not wear wedding flats if i didn't have to. have fun!!

kimberly you look so pretty woman!

My mom actually wore sneakers with her dress because no one could see her shoes. I personally can''t stand the feel of things between my toes, so I''m not a flip-flop fan, but if they''re comfy and not too noticeable, go for it!

If you''re worried about flip flops making flip flop noises, but want something comfy, what about ballet slippers or a flat round-toe shoe in that style? Not as formal/stuffy as heels or a dress sandal, you can dance all night in them, and they''d probably get less of a "no, you can''t!" reaction from Mom or any other judges in your life.

And if you wanted to switch to flip flops sometime during the night, no worries about height changes that would mess with your dress hem.

Thanks, Mara.

I love ladyciel''s advice about ballet flats. I spent about 3 days looking for a pair and had no luck (too bad I didn''t get married this summer, now that they''re all the rage).

I wouldn''t have worn flip flops if anyone could see my feet. I choose them because I got to be comforable and no one every knew (except my mom, dad, sister and DH).

I''m not receiving any pressure to wear certain kinds of footwear so I feel lucky for that :)

I think I am gong to buy heeled shoes with the intention of wearing them the whole day and have a pair of flip flops on hand just in case I''m in pain. I wear flip flops all the time, and white ones at that, so the flip flop purchase wouldn''t even have to go against my wedding budget

.

I went scouring for shoes the last two days and found these that I thought look very cute and then I remembered I had seen them before.......I think these are Dixie''s shoes!!! To which, upon re-reading that thread, I replied to her that I loooooooved them lol. I guess I really did as I picked them out out of a gazillion other options.

Those are super cute. I also plan on doing the two shoe thing the day of: nice heels for pictures (prob. wearing a short dress) and then flip flops for later!

My sil wore sparkly flip flops to her wedding and you really didn''t see them under her dress. She walked down grass so didn''t want to wear heels. She wore them for my wedding too!

I love those, so happy!

Can you do a ballet flat instead? If height of the shoe is the issue that might look a bit more finished. But if you are getting married on the beach it is probably fine!

Kimberly, you looked so gorgeous on your wedding day! I think that is the first time I've seen it.

I wore flip flops for mine...and I am SO glad I did. I had a beach wedding so I think it totaly worked. Wanting to be a bit more formal for the reception, I did buy a pair of pretty heels, but I lasted in them for about 30 minutes. I was all about being happy on my day, and my feet were a lot happier in flip flops!

Here is a pic of our wedding day foot attire...TGuy wore his scungy normal flip flops and I bought a white pair. You can't see in the pic, but there are subtle sparkly sequins on them. I paid 15 bucks at Aldo's

And here's a pic where you can see pretty clearly the flip flops with my dress. I think it worked fine.

ETA I should add that I had to walk down a wide stretch of sand to get to the ceremony, so anything with heels was not an option. My option were barefoot or flipflops!

Travelingirl~ I remember your wedding pics and they were so very beautiful!

Do you (or anyone who changed for the reception) remember it being at all a challenge to dance in your flip flops?

Thanks!

Define "dance." If you mean boogeying around like an absolute goof, it was no problem. If you mean a formal waltz or something...well, I would think it would be fine, but we didn''t go that route.

I was initially going to order Swarovski studded white Havaianas but my friend insisted I don''t saying that they wouldn''t do my dress justice, and I''m glad I listened to her because she was right.

I ended up ordering these leather sandals, but in white:

Those are very pretty, Kathinjapan! Too bad for me all those straps with that one toe only strap thing drives my feet nuts lol. Otherwise, I''d increase my options as I like the look of that kind of shoe.

I also looked at the Swarovski Havaianias (sp?) but decided against them for now. I guess I''d have to try them on in person first (and seeing firsthand how comfy I they are supposed to be) before spending that much on a flip flop. Alternatively, I could buy some Old Navy ones and glue S crystals to the foot strap if I just wanted the sparkle I guess.

Thank you for your suggestion :)

I think it wouldn''t matter as much if your dress is long and your shoes are mostly covered up (in my case my dress is knee length so my shoes definitely would be seen).

If you are considering Havaianas, they are actually the most comfortable flip flops I''ve ever worn (I have 3 pairs) so they get a big rave from me :)

Good luck with your shoe hunt!

No one will see your shoes. No one! Wear what is comfortable.

Ditto, shoes are the last thing to worry about...so get what you want!

I know I''m a bit late to this thread, but I''ve gotta say...ballet shoes are a pretty good idea. They make some really cute and fun ballet shoes and I think they are sooooo comfortable. I''m wearing them under my dress.

Just a thought.
