Can I hope to keep my floral budget under $1000?

This will be for:
1 Bridal bouquet
1 MOH bouquet
2-3 boutonnieres
...in Los Angeles.

NO floral centerpieces
NO floral ceremony decorations

I know that this is really vague and that it varies a lot depending on the florist and types of blooms, but I have NO idea what to expect!

Thoughts?

I would certainly think so!

In SF we paid under $200 for a gorgeous bridal bouquet and a bout for my DH. AND we went with a really well known, nice florist, not one of the more generic ones. And we had expensive flowers, callas, orchids, etc.

I would certainly think you could keep it under $1000....

SWEET! That is good to hear. I had a big sticker shock when I first started seeing price tags on dresses, so I was afraid that flowers would be another of those unexpectedly exorbitantly expensive budget items.

Thanks Neatfreak!

Thanks Neatfreak!

They certainly can be expensive, but even the most expensive florist I called (who had a bouquet I loved in Martha Stewart Weddings) only wanted $300 for a brides bouquet and half that for a BM bouquet. So I can''t imagine that prices would be that different in LA!

LOL! I called one of the top floral designers in my area and gave her your specs. She laughed at me! Imagine that! LOL! She said that for your budget and the number of flowers you are looking for you can get whatever it is that you want.

BTW, I am in the Boston area so I would expect that the prices are as expensive as anywhere.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I asked her the price of this boquet as a "for instance" [I have no idea if it is what you want but it looked elegant to me] and she said it was in the $180+ range. It was after that that I asked her that question and gave her your budget that she laughed.

Our flower budget is about half that, and we were told we could comfortably get an awesome bouquet ($200ish), a couple of medium sized arrangements ($100ish each), and a few bouts ($20 each).

I only had one MOH and 2 groomsmen--no other flowers at all (so our flower requirements were very similar to yours) and i don't think we paid over $300. They flowers made a big impact on the day though (I was floored with how gorgeous they were) so the $/impact ratio was fantastic!

You're going to come WAY under budget on the flowers. Woohoo!

ETA: I'm in the Boston area, so prices aren't all that cheap, either.

absolutely!!

My flowers cost:

My bouquet- $95
MOH bouquet- $65
Boutonniere- $9
Corsage- $15

Granted, my flowers were v. basic (black beauty roses) AND I used a gal in N. San Diego who does florist work on the side (no established shop), but you''ll still come out waaay under budget if you double my prices!

That sounds about right. I bet in So. Cal they might be cheaper because aren't there a lot of flower fields out there?

I think that bouquet that DB posted is too much in price and size after seeing your gorgeous dress Musey. I like something more elegant (smaller) and I bet that could be found at a less expensive price. I think that is not nice that your florist laughed (DB); I would look for another florist, sounds snobby to me.

you might want to check this company out

proflowers.com

i am thinking of using them and learned of them from a recent PS bride -- i'll try and track down the link. i don't want to spend more than $1000 either and their prices seemed reasonable

ETA : it was vizsla's post

vizsla's wedding post

also some PSers have used Costco
PS thread : Anyone used Costco flowers?

Thanks, Skippy. I just called a high end florist at random to get a frame of reference for Musey. I also agree with you. What I posted is way to overdone for the dress. I just picked the most over the top one on the page to get a ballpark price.
