You all have such great ideas and for some reason I am having a creative block. I have NO idea what to do for my flowers. I am half tempted to tell the florist (a family friend) to surprise me. Before I go that drastic I thought maybe you could give me some ideas. I want purple flowers (that much I know) I love mixing of different shades for contrast. Also the BM''s dresses are black so maybe have their flowers mostly white with some purple, mine mostly purple with some white....what do you guys think? Ahhh...help! Two months to go, should these decisions have already been made?

what about hydrangeas? they are relatively large blooms so you don''t need very many to really make a statement. i think purple calla lilies and purple tulips are beautiful too. if you like roses, there are plenty of purples out there. any of these flowers can really stand on their own for a more simple bouquet. (i''m not sure what "look" you''re going for), but callas and tulips pair very nicely too. you can do mostly white for the bridal party and mostly purple for you or do a lighter purple for yours and a darker for theirs (or vice versa). for a different look you can do a few different single stem bouquets for the maids (one purple tulips, one purple callas, etc) then combine them all for yours. you have lots of options!

I am not certain what exactly to do...I love those roses that are purple, forget their name, but they are nice. I have also seen purple rimmed white roses which a lovely too. Purple orchids and Iris could be nice...oh the roses are called Sterling Silver if I can recall... I like the idea of purple and white, with some different shades of purple mixed in...should be so pretty...

Also, do not know if they are in season, but lilacs can be pretty...what about tulips? I do not know the shade of Gerber daisys, Lilies or Delphiniums, sometimes they can be too blue...

the roses are called Sterling 95 and they are a pale lilac/lavender shade, really pretty...

my friend had two main colors, blue and pink. all the bms had the same blue flowers, and differnt pinks, starting with the MoH who had the most vibrant, shading down to the tallest BM (we stood in height order with tallest last) who had the softest palest pink blooms. The florist showed her options for each shade category and she chose what she liked. Her bouquet had teh same blues plus ALL of the pinks, plus a pink peony to set her apart. the effect was beautiful!

it could totally work with you. There are so many purple based flowers it would work well with your color scheme, with white being the base and the purple to lavendar shades. And the blsck bm dresses would really help the colors POP so that the shading would really stand out.

from your color scheme i am thinking a purple flower that is soft yet sleek like tulips...a small bunch each for the BM's of a mix of a dark purple (or light purple) and white and then for you i would do just dark purple OR dark purple and shades of lavendar and no white.

what we did with ours ... the BM's had dark purple and white dendrobium orchids, the small flowered orchids, a bunch of them tied with fuschia ribbon and covered on the sides and the edges flared out with lemon leaves...their dresses were a soft mauvey pink. for me i did the dendrobiums in purple and white but also added big green cymbidiums that had a purple mauve center to them. along with the lemon leaves. it worked out perfectly...mine was obviously the bridal bouquet but theirs were soooo cute as well. each one had their personality without being cookie cutter and i didn't want them to just have a small version of mine, i wanted theirs to be different.

the TYPE of flowers that you have really depends on the season your wedding is in and your theme. hydrangeas to me are a romantic flower and so if you are doing black BM dresses, this sounds like maybe a more contemporary wedding? in which case i am thinking purple, sleek, with minimal petals and not alot of frill to the flowers. i also am not the hugest fan of roses in bridal stuff because practically everyone does them, but i know part of that is that they are the most common flower, so easiest to get and in lots of colors in pretty much any season.

you mention the wedding in a few months so around august? i'd talk to the florist and find out first what's in season or what she can get shipped in from greenhouses for the event then go from there!! tulips probably won't be available then unless she can find a grower who can get them from somewhere else where they force them.

oh by the way the pale purple roses diamondfan mentions also have a garden name which is Sterling Silver ... i grew them for a while but the bush mildews horribly. better to get it from the florist!

When you say purple are you thinking deep and dark or pastel lavender?

I''m not feeling the purple and white but lemme do some looking online, as I have nothing better to do this Sunday morning!

Too bad lilacs wont be in season in 2 months. Love lilacs!

Im watching Whose Wedding and really like the lavendar roses theyre using in one of the arches.

Oh these look like something like lisianthus and sweet peas which should be in season in the summer, depending on locale...very romantic.

Novia- thank you. I am not sure what look I am after either. Argg...

diamondfan- purple rimmed white roses could be very cool. I will look into the Sterling 95s too. I LOVE Iris but not really in hand held bouquets (maybe center pieces....) Lilacs smell so good too! (always a plus but might be hard to get like selflove said). I think Gerber daisys would be too informal.

Ginger- I love the tone change idea. I am only having 3 BMs though so I am not sure if the effect would really stand out but it is a cool idea.

Mara- tulips always look great. I also want theirs to be different than mine (like you said not just a smaller version). Hydrangeas are very pretty. Are they in season in August? I know nothing about flowers. My florist said she could get anything in for me (and she meant anything) with a few weeks notice...I am not brave enough to do my flowers myself.

Selflove-I am thinking BOTH deep purple and pale lavenders. I think the contrast will be dramatic.

Purple statice is a very nice, rich, regal purple color and is not too expensive and therefore good for "filling out" arrangements if need be.
