Fluorescence - not sure how to check it

So I got the ring earlier today, and it has Strong blue fluorescence.
But Im not sure how to check it.

I bought a flashlight that has - UV light, regular light, laser pointer.

So I put it on UV mode and shined it on the ring, and it turned blue, along with everything around it...since the UV light is blue anyway.

I even went out and bought a piece of Lexan, because I read here that it blocks the UV light.
So I thought, I can see a before/after with UV light, but it seemed like it made no difference.

So I tested it by shining the flashlight on a piece of white paper (and it glowed) but then I put the lexan in front of the light and the paper still glowed.

Am I doing something wrong with the Lexan?

I also went into the sun earlier to see the effect the sun has on the stone, and I noticed the whole stone was ....well Im not sure (and now the sun is down).
The whole stone looked white, not exactly cloudy...but...you know how in sunlight a diamond will look dark?
It was like that but except of being dark, it was white. Like the stone was made of a white material, but if I blocked the sun with my hand, then it looked like a diamond again.
Not sure if that is normal or not.

Put the ring on a background that does not light up with the UV light.
Try various dark pieces of cloth.

Lexan has a front and a back side - a certain side is supposed to face the light source.
If you peeled off the covering it came with it will not be obvious which side is which.

Garry states that he feels Lexan blocks UV equally both ways so perhaps the Sun-out side is for fading over time or something not which way blocks more UV.

It is also handy if you have a non-florescent diamond to place next to your strong blue, which BTW is beautiful.

To check for cloudiness look at the diamond in shaded sunlight (not direct rays) which can even work in shaded cloudy day light.
If you have a loupe then use that - you are looking to see if the stone is less transperant - a little cludy milky.

Forget about direct sunlight - no value at all.

The UV light you bought may even be the wrong frequency to excite the diamond.
