The Proposal
I was in San Diego all week for business and had my GF fly down for the weekend. I booked a hotel on Coronado Island called the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. My original plan was to propose while we took a Gondola Boat ride at sunset. Sadly I had to revert to "Plan B" because of possible rain. While at the hotel eating lunch, I suggested to my GF that she get a nice massage at the SPA. I told her I was sleepy and wanted to take a nap (white lie). On her way down I quickly called the SPA, told them I was going to propose a bit later and could they tell my GF she would receive a free manicure and nail painting after the massage. They happily accepted.
Our Hotel room had a beautiful view of Coronado Bridge and the Bay so I wanted this as the back drop. I set a big comfortable chair with blanket, a beautiful bouquet of roses and sprinkled rose petals out on the patio. I also setup a video camera because I felt it would be great for us to watch during our anniversary every year. I also had room service deliver Champagne and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. So far "plan B" was going smoothly
The SPA called to advise she was heading back up to the room. I put a scarf in my back pocket and waited by the door. She greeted me all chit chatty about getting a free manicure . She tried heading further into the room but I held her in a big hug and told her how much I was in Love with her. I then looked into her eyes and said "Honey, I need you to trust me for just a few minutes ok?" She was like "ummm...sure but whats up?" I said "just trust me" and pulled out the scarf and told her it was a surprise.
I led her to the patio, facing the bay and took the scarf off. I held her from behind and said I wanted us to just look at the view and soak it in because this is a moment we would want to en-grain in our memories forever. It was an incredible moment and one that makes me tear to think about it. I then turned her around and said "Sit here" It was then that she saw the roses and video camera and for the first time came to realize what I was about to do. I then went down on one knee, told her a bunch of stuff I will keep private and proposed. Later we shared the Champagne and Strawberries then went to a fabulous dinner at Mister A's (unbelievable views of the city and fantastic food!). Well that's our story. Here are a few pics of the proposal and some hand shots of my Fiancee's ring.
