I have a 1.25 ct princess cut in a simple tapered cathedral solitaire. I think my looks and my ring are a match. My ring is of above ''national'' average in size, and so am I (I''m 5''7, tall for an asian). My ring has sleek, slender lines, no frills, and that''s how I am....simple, serene, no frills. I also consider myself a ''princess''. I like to be pampered....no outdoorsy, woodsy, camping for me, I like a nice hotel room with crisp sheets and warm showers. I hope my personality is not as ''square'' as my ring though!

Well, my fiancee''s e-ring is a bit bigger than the national average too I guess (so what is the avg? 1.0 ct?). It''s a 1.37 but she''s only around 5''2" so the size is disproportional. It''s a round brilliant (plain and traditional) in a simple solitaire setting. That fits her since she (well, me too actually) aren''t very unique. We''re pretty plain and boring, but we like us that way.

I had to add that the reason why I posted this topic was because 2 co-workers recently got engaged, and the e-rings they received (or chose) didn''t really match up to what I thought they''d choose. One girl is really hip and modern, but she got a classic round centerstone with channel set rounds....kind of tradiitonal, and unexpected for her. The other is a romantic, long skirt wearing, soft curly hair type of girl, and she got a princess cut in a very modern, concave type of setting. I thought they''d suit the other person''s ring much better.

That''s a good question, I never thought of it like that. I guess I would say yes, I like classic and elegant designs. Also I like a nice hotel room electricity and most importantly a blow dyer, oh and curling iron too. No pupping a tent for me, haha

haha I don''t think my rings match me at all..I am definitely high maintenance in general, but my clothes are much more simple appearing than my rings...which are eternity style bands with a 1.60c center stone.. i wear jeans and tees and flip flops alot, juicy sweats, jean jackets, etc.

I think rings like these are more suited to people who dress up more or always look ''put together'' and have the jewelry to go with it. That''s not me! my other jewels are a tiny Regent pendant and simple hoop earrings. But i love my rings anyway! tastes for rings are hard to match sometimes...you think you want one thing and end up loving another!

Especially on this website, I change my mind all the time. Now I really love asschers!!

You brought up a good point that I forgot to mention. My ring even suits the way I dress. I like classic looks like Ann Taylor, J Crew, Express, Limited, since I work in an office. The stores are not cheapy, nor are they designer-labels!

My ring and I are both pear-shapes.  My diamond is a bit fatter than average, although I wouldn''t say the same was true for me (5''4", 120lbs).  I can''t stand frilly, flouncy, chiffony style clothes and I think my plain gold cathedral matches me pretty well.

My diamond is a bit on the shallow side (depth 58%).  I have my moments

I would say that my original wedding set matched who I was at the time (not what I wished I''d be though LOL). It was a 1/3 Marquise cut with 2-.15 rounds on either side in YG. Being we were just starting out, it fit my blue-jeans, t-shirt, active style.

Now, I''m in the more professional, blouse, nice slacks, classic look, so my new wedding set with my 1.03 EC stone matches that classic look.

With my changing styles, I got changing wedding bands! LOL

You are too funny, I love self-depricating humor.....now we just need someone to comeout and say: My ring''s an antique, and so am I.....

What a great topic!!!!

I''m an outdoorsy, hiking, kayaking, gardening girl who loves antiquing, my shabby chic flea market finds and my ENORMOUS collection of McCoy & Shawnee pottery! I generally love all things old and well-loved. I always thought that I''d end up with a vintage or vintage-inspired e-ring but I now have my heart set on getting my omc set in the vatche x-prong...and I guess it makes sense, my turn-of-century stone appeals to the antique lover in me, the simple setting to my outdoorsy interests and the vatche name in platinum to the fact that I always buy for the designer life I WISH I had

My ring is a .95 center princess with .5tcw channel set princess diamonds in a platinum band. I think my ring fits my personality b/c I''m feminine and like the latest things that are in style.

But, since that''s the case, when the newest style of diamond comes out... my ring won''t fit me anymore.

fun topic!

My ring set is a Tacori-- I like name brand everything in general

I wanted a matching bridal set only-- I''m very "matchy-matchy" when it comes to things (like matching my handbags to my shoes or my makeup colors to the general color of my outfit, round earrings with round pendant versus square earrings with square pendant, etc).

I wanted the bands on the rings to be thick-- I''m pretty thick

I wanted the center diamond to be big and round-- I''m kind of big and round too

tacoris are kind of antique looking-- im not old but getting there!

My rings look pretty high maintenance and I''m not really so it may be weird when I don my rings with my jeans and flip flops like mara.

I wanted something very blingie-- Kind of like me, kind of not. I LOVE bling. I even have rhinestones on my cellphone! I love anything glittery and sparklie and girlie yet I also like to be very understated and classic about a lot of things so I''m on the fence on this one. I love classic shared prong eternity rings and channel bands too. i want it all!

Well, I think my e-ring suits me. It''s a radiant cut center with 3 sided pave band. I tend to like things that are unique. For example, I painted the shutters & door on my house lavender and made my entire front yard a cottage garden...in a sea of well manicured grass. My clothes are an eclectic mix of designer, discount & vintage. So, it only made sense to me to pick something a bit different than what I see locally for an e-ring. Around where I live no one has a radiant or pave. It''s been kinda fun watching people try to figure out the center stone...most people think it''s a rectangular princess with extra cuts to make it sparkle differently. Then they pick up my hand and turn it over to see the diamonds go all the way around. My ering to my first husband was an emerald set in yellow gold--also unique for here...so I guess I''d stayed true to myself on liking things that are just a bit out of the oridnary.

I''d say my ring fits me fairly well. It''s a round brilliant set in a yellow gold, six prong tiffany style setting.

I don''t follow trends -- if I prefer something else, so be it. I like yellow gold on me more than platinum.

Both my personality and sense of style are traditional, classic, and understated.

I like to dream about being more daring and flashy, but in the end I never am!

Yes. It''s a pear, I''m a pear. I have a very unique personality, a very eclectic mix of interests, I enjoy/participate in "odd" combinations of things - I''m a Christian evolutionary biologist, for example - my ring is very unique. I tend to be a minimalist - no TV, I cycle to work, I don''t wear lots of jewelry - my ring is just a little more than a solitaire, small ctw, "minimal".

FH knows me well.

I guess that''s me! I chose a vintage setting for my 25th wedding anniversary gift. Like a fine wine, I''m aging gracefully and.....wait, who am I KIDDING?

I''m 47 and my nickname is "klutz". I am looking at eight weeks in a cast because I''m like an elephant in a china shop and broke my left foot TRIPPING OVER GRASS.

Although I wear my engagement ring well, I don''t know if we exactly match.

I am 5'' tall / 102 pounds petite Asian woman in pretty good shape. My engagement ring is a Round Brilliant Cut 3 stone ring with a 3 carat center and two round .55''s on either side. I don''t think I''m round, it''s on the larger side which I don''t think I am, and it is quite noticable on my size 4 finger (at 5'' tall I don''t think I am that noticable).

On the other hand I definitely match my wedding band which is a 3+ carat eternity band of round diamonds. It''s sleek and has just enough shine to know that it''s there

What a fun poll!
My ring is round (I’m a little round myself..) It’s not an antique, but is designed as one (I am a bit old fashioned !!) It is original in it’s specific design, yet it seems to be a popular style (that;s me, original but not to the point where I boldly stick out..) but alas, my ring is kind of fancy, where I am more plain, jeans and a baseball hat kinda gal.

Roppongi, your e-ring and w-band sound incredible! Have you posted pics of them on PS before? There''s a 3+ carat thread in "Show Me the Ring" that is calling your name...

My ring only partially matches me. . .I''m petite build and my ring is "petite," by PS standards (lol -
3.gif
) so its size matches me, but the ring itself is a very simple solitaire setting, which doesn''t match my personality & style because both are ever changing. . .To put in perpective, I''ve had my hair style changed four times in TWO months, so I''m always reinventing myself as I grow bored of things things pretty easily. . .but, my ring remains as it is. . . simple and timeless!

I don''t match my ring.

Yep, I suppose my ring and I do match. Round(in all the right places), largish(but not huge) and low set(I'm only 4'10")

I don''t match my ering - I''m petite (5'' tall) and have a size 2.25 ring finger with a 1.65 stone. In PS terms, I totally match!

Hah! Another round-round combo here... 1 ct in a Tiffany platinum setting, and AGS 0... Classic and simple, but high quality -- I''d like to *think* we match!
2.gif
That is definitely my general style, although I think my personality is quirky and my beliefs somewhat radical, compared to many! However, as I''ve been getting ready for the wedding, I''m learning that I''m a bit more traditional than I thought I was!

That low set comment had me rolling on the floor!!

My marquise kinda matches me during certain times of the month. Small at either end, and bloated in the middle.

My fiance says the color of the centerstone (red) matches my passionate personality. The setting is a compromise between two equally dominant personality traits -- My inner bling queen who likes bigger shinier mo'' bettuh and the practical princess that prefers plainer things of excellent quality.
