This is my first poll so hopefully this came out right.

I love a lot of different style rings and high quality hand crafted goods in general. Three of my all time favorites in no particular order are James Meyer-Van Craeynest and Mike Robinson Designs.

I know there are probably many more i haven't seen and would love just as much.

So if you could only pick one what would you get and who would you get it from?

Feel free to post pictures too :)

McTeigue and McClelland, absolutely.

James Meyer hands down. There are so many people's work that I admire, but JM is very much my style.

I voted Mike Robinson. I love his work!

Mike Robinson for sure - I fell hard for his EC 3-stone several years ago, and have only been more impressed with his originality, artistry, and craftsmanship with every piece I've seen since then:

RGD, because I feel like anything I dreamed up, he could make.

Mike Robinson. His craftsmanship is exemplary, and his designs are genuinely innovative. I wouldn't be surprised if his pieces were to become collectible in the JAR sense.

My second choice would be Van Craeynest, but at this point, vintage Van Craeynest ... I haven't seen anything out of the company's new owners yet, and I'm a little leery.

And my third would be James Meyer, but he'd be a distant third. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a very talented jeweler! But I am not in love with this growing policy of only setting one's own stones. Yes, I understand that's where the profit is. But to put up with that, I need to fall in love with a finished piece and have the immediate gratification and lack of design stress. If I'm commissioning something, I'd like free reign to get *exactly* what I want (within the limitations of the artist's skill set).

Voted for Van Craeynest... very much my style.

I voted for Mike Robinson -- his designs are amazing! ...but I wouldn't turn down any of them!

Mike Robinson is in a totally different league (and style) than the others. I agree with Circe that he does JAR level work, but his is more wearable. So if this was a free ring or if I were rich, I certainly would go with a one-of-a-kind masterpiece by Mike!

If I had to pay for the ring (back to reality here), Van Craeynest and James Meyer are in the realm of possibility for me, and I adore both and would be happy to have rings from both. Both make styles that would work well with my other jewelry. Probably won't ever happen from JM, though, unless I buy a ring second hand, because I prefer to choose my own stones. I am still considering VC for my e-ring.

If I had to choose between the 2, James Meyer. Like most of his pieces, some are not my style at all. BUT for the ring of my lifetime, it's MC2 -- well, it will never be MC2, but if cost were no object:

RDG, not a millisecond of hesitation. Mike, and David for that matter, is an artist of the highest level - and extremely kind, to boot. I completely agree with Circe's opinion, and would put him at the top of my list, for sure.

HI:

Of the "list"--prolly MR. But Mc2 would be my first choice, no question.

cheers--Sharon

Mike Robinson--his work is so unique and interesting.

Another vote for MC2.....after that, Van Craeynest...

Every single word, ditto-ed. Down to the "distant third". Except I'd say distant fourth**, and stick MC2 between VC and JM (yes, blasphemy, I like VC more than MC2!). I love VC and MC2 because I love the old world flair. But there's something less special about owning a ring that looks like thousands of other people's rings.

RDG. Their stuff is like art you wear.

Mike, 'cause you don't even need to dream it up, just know that there's a dream about it floating about somewhere, and he'll figure out how to make it

RGD, but I love the other 2 styles also.

This is just one handy picture (oops, 2) I have of Mike's work. Like I said, I think he is in a different league.

DS, I totally understand why you would have posted the yellow diamond flower ring instead of mine- it is really a spectacular piece!!

I'll look forward to your new thread on RDG!!!

I love all the replies and I can't wait to check out these new artists :)

I am sorry I don't have time to reply to everyone-I need to take advantage of my sons nap and PS and the computer isn't what I should be doing :((

Mike Robinson. His work is truly one of a kind creations. Beautiful wearable art.
