hi girls! so i''ve done all my research on formal invitation wording (for addressing envelopes), but there''s still one thing I can''t figure out. As i live in NYC, i have a lot of friends with addresses with street numbers (4 East 9th Street for example). I think if the street numbers are high (like 82nd street) etc. it''s acceptable to use numerics but what about for lower numbers? is there a cutoff?
So confusing! thanks all

hum, i remember seeing a website with the ettiquette for this... let me see if i can find it...

and from crane''s site:

Q:Should we use numerals or should we write out the numbers?
A:Numerals are usually used for the street number, although it is also appropriate to write out numbers one through twenty. Numbered streets may appear whichever way is more aesthetically pleasing. Numerals are always used for zip codes.

I would probably write it out for numbers 1-99 and use numerals for 100 and over . . .
I wonder which method the post office prefers?

For the sake of your writing hand, I would say use the numeral instead of spelling. If you spell out the number of the street, you might run our of room on that address line!

thanks jcrow!
i'm also hearing that it's only necessary to write out numbers that are single digit (except for "one"), so I may go with that..

and this is actually for my friend who is doing the calligraphy..so it'll be her hand..i owe her big!
