Hi all,

I found the perfect stone on Blue Nile, and I''ve read about people asking someone else to call it in for them to get a better price. How do I do that? In other words, how do I find a vendor with access to the same stone and who would be willing to give me a better price than Blue Nile? I also want to be sure that any vendor I use has a good return policy just in case I don''t like the stone in person.

They can probably get it as long as it isn't a blue nile 'signature' stone. The signatures are their own in house stones.

ETA: just call any of the vendors that you would like to deal with - GOG, WF, Wink, etc, etc and ask about it

Well, BN has an excellent return policy (30 days, which is longer than most). Put in the specs of the diamond above, in the pricescope your diamond feature and see if other vendors have it listed. Sometimes one diamond will show up on a number of different vendors'' sites.

Ditto to all of the above...do see if it is listed in the search above. Then you know the stone is available to multiple vendors. Just wanted to add that Good Old Gold and James Allen also have 30 day returns.

Thanks,

I put the specs into the pricescope search and the stone came up once under Blue Nile only. Its not a signature cut.

Does this mean that all is lost? I think I will try to contact White Flash to see if they can get it.

What I just read on another thread is that BN has exclusive rights to the stones at their supplier, so it may be that even though they are in-house stones, other vendors may not be able to access them.

You might want to email the specs to one or more of the Pricescope vendors and see if they can get it for you. My stone was only listed by one vendor but another vendor was able to get it for me at a slightly lower price less the Pricescope discount and full trade-in value on an upgrade, which Blue Nile does not have. Nothing to lose by trying.

Some diamond dealers have an arrangement where only one vendor can list their stones on the virtual list but they will sell to other vendors if approached.

If other vendors can get it they may already have it listed here on Pricescope. have you tried?

Or it may be banned from such listings for web sales by BN arrangement.

Is this a race to the bottom for a lot of money?

I don''t think you can - ut it doesn''t hurt to *try* so go for it! give them the GIAnumber and ask them to source it.... if they reall ycan''t, there''s your answer.

and keep in mind that BN does NOT have any type of upgrade policy..so if you''re planning to upgrade down the line, BN is not the way to go.

hmmm. i''ll see what i can do.

if i got this stone i wouldn''t need to upgrade, its plenty big for me (2.8 ct). i''m just trying to save a much as i can. if i save some money on the stone, i can use it on the setting of my dreams.

the specs are such a perfect fit for me that i''d buy from Blue Nile if that was the only way. it just seemed that a lot of people here think Blue Nile is a little overpriced.
