Found this old Mar. 2003 Rap. report in my drawer.

Hey, I’m easy, I’ll buy preloved from PSers at 2003 prices too, DF you selling? ::)

Wow - backward time travel would be nice for a few hours!!

No PS vendors replied yet? . They don't want to sell at Mar. 2003 prices?

MGR

Our 2.5 ct G VS1 was $11,600 per ct. before discount. :eek-2:

Yep, I looked at it and figured about 29k. I guess that price would have been shocking in 2003 though. Today's prices are insane! Hard to imagine looking back on these prices today and thinking they were the 'good old days' but who knows?

Just the government numbers for inflation, which are just a fraction of the real inflation in prices of consumers goods makes the 2003 dollar buying power aprox 1.5 of today's dollars.

Definitely a buyer at those prices... For well cut gems of course...

Oh, and if you think those prices are nice, you should have seen the pricing back in the mid 70's, before the investment craze silliness, and in the early 80's but after the crash that started in Feb of 1980.

Vedddddy Interrresting DF!!
Diamonds have NOT kept up with inflation...based on the Rap list of then versus current list.
Take a number of $5800
Something that cost $5800 in 2003...how much would it cost today?

answer above.... using the most commonly used us inflation numbers which many argue are not right but they are the official numbers it come out as 1.5x to convert so 1.5 x 5800= $8700

LOL, I got my GG in late 1975. A 1 ct D-IF in November was about $4,500 if I recall correctly and the guys who gave me the pricing were complaining it had only been about $2,000 three or four years earlier. I was 28 years old when I graduated. much older than most of my classmates.

Wow. I went straight to 4ct J VS1, because that's my stone, and that's really not that low!
