French Cut Bangle Help

Hello PSers! Are there any vendors who sell a French cut bangle or is this a custom type of project?

The image on the left has about 9 French cuts in the center and the remaining are round brilliant diamonds. I was hoping for something similar but instead of the round diamonds to just keep it simple and gold metal the rest of the way. So similar to the image on the right in terms of diamond to bangle ratio but instead of the hexagonal look it would be with the French cuts.

Also design question please as I'm terrible with photoshop and picturing it in my mind - would you keep the milgrain around the French cut section only? Or no milgrain at all? Having a hard time figuring out what is the best transition.

Safety question please - I've seen some bangles with 1 safety on the side or 2 on the side. Any issues with only having 1? Or 2 is always better?

Appreciate any helpful thoughts of consideration!

Maybe try Alex Park on IG @parksfinegroupinc

Wow oldcutclub member has a lovely collection and thanks for the IG eye candy! What an inspirational bangle and will need to imagine a "baby version" of it...

@lulu_ma @maryjane04 @winnietucker - Thank ya'll for commenting and any thoughts on whether it is strange to do milgrain only around the french cut section and then leave the rest of the bangle high polish? Perhaps that isn't odd though as oldcutclub's bangle has milgrain going north and south but not east and west of the diameter and that looks lovely!

I don't think so. I'm imagining that you can do some sort of combination of these Erika Winters pieces but in bangle form. Some of these wedding bands transition from milgrain to none.

(I own the 10 stone version of this bracelet with French cut sapphires, happy to share more photos if that's somehow helpful)

@newtojewels Thank you and you are clearly not "new to jewels" and appreciate the visuals. I'm feeling more confident that it isn't strange to have a transition. I'm not quite sure of the affect of milgrain but it seems to soften or create a "delicate" look around the stone. I'm favoring it so far! Appreciate it and I bet your 10 stone bracelet is stunning! May I ask and why you preferred a bracelet vs a bangle? I wasn't sure if a bracelet would flip around and not show the stones properly but then again tennis bracelets don't seem to have that problem.

Maybe I should change it to "LessNewToJewels"! The bracelet was on sale and I love Erika Winters so I got it. It wasn't a custom project so I didn't have much choice!

The bar on that bracelet is curved so it doesn't flip or spin on me, but I don't mind a snug bracelet. I have about 1.5 fingers of room, I expect it would start to spin with much more than 2-2.5 fingers of room and maybe less if it didn't cover so much of the top of my wrist. Here are two photos I quickly tracked down that show the curve and the fit but I can take more for you later today. With my computer typing position (which is all day for me with my job), I actually find a bangle kind of annoying. Of course another advantage to this style is that it's cheaper to make with gold prices being so high, but I think a bangle or at least something more substantial would be better for 'future-proofing', this is obviously a very dainty look.

I agree that the milgrain softens the look and I think it suits French cuts beautifully. Here's another option to have milgrain on the whole bangle, which would also be lovely:

@newtojewels - Appreciate your additional commentary and photos. What a lovely bracelet stack and the combination fits so well together. Thanks for sharing that the bracelet doesn't flip, and since I am also in an office setting that I should spend more time deliberating on the feel of it hitting the desk. I think the photos you shared so far communicate your thoughts well but my heart is so filled that you would consider taking more if needed. What kindness... thank you but no need.

I have a costume one that I picked up from a retail store that is probably made of brass. Overtime, the coloring has rubbed off which means that even when being gentle the wear and tear does happen. Surprisingly, I don't think I mind the chunkiness when typing more than when I wear a tennis bracelet. To process it out-loud more for my sake, I certainly want something different from a tennis bracelet look so I think I'm going to still going towards the bangle route. Appreciate you helping me articulate how milgrain affects the look and think I'll try and shoot for a "dainty" bangle if that isn't a counter intuitive word and keep it only around the french cuts. Thanks again!

A fitted bangle, perhaps the style where it’s open on the underside and you slide your wrist into the bangle through that opening rather that sliding it over the hand — allowing for a tighter fit— could also work. Though a hinge and clasp would also allow for a tighter fit.

I think a section of French cuts in a milgrained frame like NTJs would work very well. Consider the brushed finish on the band, rather than high polish, which I think blends better with milgrain.

Hello and appreciate the additional thoughts to consider! I have small wrists and prefer a hinge with safety on both sides (or at least 1) would be ideal. I have that part figured out whew...

Good point on the brushed finish and will change directions! Appreciate the sage advice. Hope you have a great rest of your week.
