Last night I did pretty well. I did interval training for 2 miles, then 1 additional mile at 7 mph. I''ve been trying to get back to 7 mph, so I was pretty happy I was able to do that. Today when I get home from work, I''ll probably try to do 2 miles at 7 mph and some abs, legs, and arms.

I''m wearing my tight jeans to work today, and they actually don''t feel all that tight!

Good job Miss Coda!

I am still eating well and eyeing up the garden now the weather has improved slightly for my next outdoor workout. My tightest jeans are loosening which is good too. Funny thing I have noticed is how skinny my neck has become. I have a long neck anyway and it looks weird, this changing shape business is interesting. I am looking forward to digging out my lighter weight tops as I am still in sweaters and sweatshirts mostly as it is so cold here still. When I get those on, hopefully I will see more improvements in my arms and other areas.

That is a lot of exercise to do Coda, you realy must be getting superfit!

How is everyone else doing?

Morning ladies. I''ve been bad.

I was lazy and didn''t work out yesterday and today I don''t feel well so I canceled my trainer. I''m going away this weekend so I won''t be able to get to the gym until Tuesday. That''s almost a week without the gym! Ugh. I feel so fat. I have to weigh in tomorrow and I''m dreading it. Maybe I''ll skip it. Why is this so hard?

Coda, wow, 3 miles is great! It is nice to feel clothes loosening. I can''t say that i''m personally experiencing that, well, maybe a little but it''s been awhile. I am feeling pretty good today though. Last night, I did a longer cardio tape at home and felt glad I put in a little extra time. Most times, I do the shorter 25 min. or so tapes and although it''s not a workout, it''s not a challenge. The longer ones are for me. I do need to get more variety. I took out a tape from the library and now need another since it was due.
I feel I did good w/my water intake yesterday. I am tired this morning but hoping that will wear off by the evening so I can get in my 4th workout this week.
Hope everyone has a good day.

AP, don''t feel bad about taking time off from the gym. I know it''s easier said than done. I took four days off, and I just felt so guilty. Enjoy your long weekend, and you''ll get back on track next week!

Amanda, It can definitely be hard some days. I can relate!! But you will get back into the groove soon. Tuesday''s not that far away and maybe you can do some exercises on your own until then, some abs or leg lifts until you''re able to get to your full workout. Or just concentrate on the eating. I know that when I do a little something, it at least makes me feel a little better..like i''m not totally slacking. But even on good days, it can be HARD. Slowly but surely, it will happen (that''s what I keep telling myself!).

That is how I see weight and fitness management now, as a lifestyle change and a long term project. It took me years to learn this and patience. I used to obsess with every little pound, every cookie I ate, tighter waistbands, panicking about having to eat out and mess things up etc, it caused me much misery. Now I think about my routines as part of my lifestyle, don''t put so much pressure on myself and it has worked great. Tomorrow is another day, if you want to have some cake today for example, have it and don''t feel guilty. You can always cut back a little at another meal or the next day, or do some extra exercise etc if you want. The main thing is not to feel you have failed, every good thing you do for yourself, be it drinking more water, cutting back on sugar, working out more, all counts towards the long term goal of a healthier weight and fitness. Patience and forgiveness are esssential tools here with yourself and reward yourself for every healthy choice you make. All these positive little changes add up tremendously, so do what you can and don''t expect perfection. Rome wasn''t built in a day, just keep moving forward and the rewards will come. Eventually it will become routine and get easier.

Lorelei, that was very well said!! Thanks!

AP -- don''t feel bad or guilty! everyone else has had some great advice about patience and not sweating all of our "indiscretions" i was dreading a weigh-in and was suprised to see that no real damage was done. you have to take the long view and be proud that you have decided to get fit and take better care of yourself. that is tremendous. you''ll get back to the gym before you know it. motivation is just a sort of up and down thing. it''ll be back at a high soon, plus having just felt sick this week, i know it''s not the time to push your body. get healthy!!!

i returned to the gym last night after a two day hiatus and it was great. i did a little over 4 miles on the elliptical. i could have done even more, but i had to get home. i love how my endurance is building. hopefully, i''ll be able to have enough discipline to make it back today, though fridays are tough!

I'm glad that helped Amy! I feel since reaching this conclusion, that a huge burden of many years has dropped off me regarding weight control and I have been the most successful ever with it. It has taught me that perfection isn't necessary, just the motivation to keep trying will get you there eventually and failing occasionally won't stop you, in fact failing is the wrong word - choosing a high calorie option now and then isn't such a bad thing after all. Everyone deserves an icecream from time to time, and that will do no harm along with missing a workout. The only way you can really blow it is to give up altogether and even then tomorrow is another day - as is my mantra - to begin again - you always have the choice!

Hello Ladies,

A bit late joining the thread today (again). This morning, workout buddy and I were at the gym at 7:20 and ran 4 miles. Yesterday, we established which leg of the marathon I''ll be running, and I''m happy to say it''s very near to our house, which means I''ll be able to train on the actual terrain I will have to eventually conquer during my 10k run in May.

Amanda, don''t worry too much about taking a few days off. In fact, you''ll probably notice quite an improvement when you return on Tuesday, as you will be well rested. Some days, particularly if I''ve worked out 5 or 6 in a row, I feel like all I''m doing is putting one foot ahead of the other... and performance definitely suffers.

heee i have been really bad this week!! but its been SO darn cold out, im not motivated to do much. i would go to kbox class but for this gimpy arm. last nite we went to see cirque corteo which was amazing, so we stopped for a quick gourmet burger (my fave) at this local restaurant before which was bad but so darn good. we did have to walk from the car which was like 10 blocks away then back later so at least i got SOME exercise...tee hee.

and tonite there is no kbox, tomorrow there is at 9am (hah!) so it''s looking like monday for me. also we are supposed to get a big storm in today til saturday evening so we''ll probably see lots of cold gross rain. i sound so motivated don''t i?

but i don''t feel too bad about it, sometimes you just have to take a break so this week is kind of that for me i guess. i''ll be back on it next week and i also decided im going back to kbox even if my arm is not feeling great because im tired of babying it...i almost feel like that''s not making it better either.

have a fab weekend ladies!

I''m definitely looking forward to this weekend. Maybe I can actually sleep in!

Mara, I can relate, the weather is so cold, it''s not fun to walk in. Jelly and I only walked for 10 minutes this morning. We were so cold we just starting running home! I''ll make up for it on the bike tonight.

Have a wonderful weekend!
