I've been trying to find a round brilliant in the 1.35+, or a princess in 1.50+ size for an extremely great deal. It has to be better quality than some of those you'd see in a chain store. I obviously don't want to see a feather or spot by the naked eye. In a chain store nearby I found one:

1.35 round brilliant
non-certified
J
I1
it has a feather directly under the table (which can barely be seen by naked eye if you look hard and it is seen very well with 10x) and some small black spots which can only be seen by 10x mag. They're selling the ring for 1995.00.

I'm finding all kinds of deals on dirtcheapdiamonds website as an alternative and working with Josh but I'm frustrated. Everything I come up with he says is not "eye clean" and if it is, it's SOLD or ON HOLD for another customer. If it's EGL cert and J in color then he says its too yellow. I'm trying to find one for under or just above 4000. Am I going about this the wrong way?

Some of the things I look for:
H-J in color, certified, eye-clean SI1, SI2 or eye-clean I1
1.35 + carat

Whatever my fiance and I get, it will be set in platinum. My fingers are a 4.25 in size, long and thin. What budget should we really be looking at to get the best possible price at our minimum specifications? Help!

For the specs you are looking for, you are floating around the $4200/carat range. Translation: A 1.35c stone with your specs for $4k does not exist. Why are you looking for such a big stone? Drop down under 1.2c and you will be much better off.
