So my stepmom & I went to the mall y''day to take my son to the kids storytime at PBkids...Well she tells me she saw a Jeff Cooper ring in my Instyle from her last babysitting adventure & wants to "add on to her ring" or something weird to duplicate it.... (she has reset fever..I''ve infected her).
So two jewelers in our mall carry him & we take her in to look at/try on the setting. Turns out she likes one similar to the Vatche X prong.
Thing is, she''s got a yellow gold cathedral setting (but the shoulders are very fluid & gorgeous, not a stock cathedral setting) but it has the typical stock 4 prong head with no "flair" to it inside.
She told me that when my dad picked up her setting, it was the wrong one, but the wedding was the next day, so she''s never been "happy" with the head, but doesn''t want to lose the whole ring my dad put on her finger. (she''s my ring sister! I can''t believe that happened to us both! LOL)
So we are in the "maul" jewelers (LaRog & BBB) and I have them pull a Jeff Cooper catalog & we are talking about the Xprong, how it should sit & that she might want to look at D. Vatche...the saleslady looks at me and says "oh..you are in the business?". Umm no..but thanks!
So we go to BBB & she tries on Xprongs there, and they are the inhouse stock settings, and the shoulders are weird & it sat up really high & wasn''t fluid or balanced like a Lucida, D. Vatche, or Whiteflash version of the same ring. So I''m telling her a few things about it there & the sales lady asks me the same question. My stepmom starts laughing because she thinks I''m a nut with all my resetting..she tells the SA "you have no idea about my step-daughter..she''s obsessed with this stuff". (my whole family makes fun of my Pricescope addiction...hey, at least its not gambling & I don''t buy if I don''t have money..I don''t see how its a problem...
)
So I''m taking her to my jeweler because he does great custom work (see my avatar!!!) to see if he can add an xprong style head to her existing ring. If you take out that stock head, the ring is wide open. I''d like to see her keep her ring since it is gorgeous, but from the side its clunky.
fun fun to be mistaken for someone who knows something....LOL....
