Here''s a fun question: What is the first thing you''ll do once engaged? Tell parents? Buy first bridal magazine? Choose a location? Change your facebook status (JUST KIDDING!) What are you most excited to do?

eta - Martha Stewart bridal here i come!! :)

Oooo I love this!! I think the first thing would be to tell my parents and then everyone I know as they''ve been waiting so long! Ha ha!! Then I''ll be sooooo excited about buying first bridal magazine, and then will probably start pestering my SO into looking at dates and venues!!

Ooooo I feel excited now!!

Call my Mom to tell my parents
Call sis and bro
Call Susan, Carrie, Sheri
Call Grandma

Go to Bath and Body Works and watch my diamond sparkle under their awesome lighting

I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!

I''m thinking it will be kind of crazy telling parents and friends because I''m sure to get some "FINALLY" reactions... I hope not too many, though! I''m sure it will be surreal. Is Martha Stewart Weddings the one to go with? I''ll keep that in mind!!!!!

FUN!!!

1. Stop crying
2. Start breathing again
3. Call mom (probably start crying again)
4. Call sis
5. Call friends
6. let out a *sigh* of relief that the waiting is finally over!

I''m a pretty emotional person...I know for sure I''ll be crying happy tears

Definitely call my parents screaming with joy and happines :)

Then, start looking at venues with the man. And I want to get my dress kind of early so probably do that not too long after.

This post is making me excited!!!

Hopefully we all will be planning soon!

Number 1 and 2 are a good idea--but hopefully switch the order so you don''t pass out!!

1. down a glass of champagne
2. send a text to mom, dad and sister so that nobody gets offended--whoever calls me back first gets to talk to me first. i''m very diplomatic
3. contact friends
4. change facebook status (my home page listed 4 engagements today all from former classmates, I guess 28 is the age to get engaged amongst my peers)
Then the non-immediate stuff: buy a wedding magazine, pick a venue, go dress shopping.

1. jump in his arms
2. Kisses all over
3. Cry

I''m already engaged, but this is so fun I wanted to join in!

This is what we did:
1) Cried
2) Stared at each other, big goofy grins, lots of excitement, jumping up and down, hugs, kisses, more goofy grins
3) Enjoyed the moment for about an hour, no phone calls to anyone, just spent the time together being all excited and swoony
4) Called Mom & Dad, sisters, close family and friends
5) Went to a Rush concert with friends, where I spent the entire night staring at my left hand!
6) Came home after the concert and posted on PS at about 2 AM.

It was wonderful. I can''t wait to hear all of your engagement stories!

10. Probably try to stop hyperventilating and crying lol

1. not sure how I''ll react when he pops the question
2. Break out the loupe and idealscope!!! I''m getting a family ring, so I have no idea what the diamond will look like, but pretty sure it will be an old european or transitional cut.
3. Call my parents, his sister, and my ex-MIL!
4. Go get some champagne!

I''m already engaged, but...

I guess we''re really low-key, laid back people, even immediately post-engagement!

We just cuddled for a little bit and gazed at each other with silly smiles (and looked at the ring a LOT), and then we told our parents. We were out of town, so the next day we called important people, and when we got back in town we told other (slightly less) important people. My friend got engaged the same weekend so we ended up calling a lot of the same people and they kind of thought we were joking!.

I didn''t want to update facebook without telling everyone who might be offended that they didn''t know ahead of time!!
We didn''t do a lot of planning right away, because we wanted to just enjoy our new status (although it''s hard to resist).

What a fun thread! I'm not a LIW, but wanted to share what I actually did do.

1. Laughed a lot, took pictures
2. Hung out all day together and told no one
3. Updated PS with pics (that's right, you guys knew before my parents!
6.gif
)
4. Told my parents (1.5 days later because dad was MIA)
5. Told my close friends (well they figured it out, I didn't announce it, 2 days later)
6. More friends found out (4 days later), had fun with people yelling "you're engaged?!" from across a room
7. Sent email to faraway friends and family with a few pictures
8. Told hubby's parents (more than a week later because he forgot)

The next week or two were really fun because it felt like every day there were new people finding out. It was a very cute/fun time in our lives
1.gif

Oh gosh...I have no idea what I''d do!!! I have the first 6 things down...

1. Cry
2. Hug
3. Kiss
4. Tell my BF how much I love him
5. Hug
6. Stare at my ring

I don''t know how whether or not we''d like to tell our parents in person or on the phone....but eventually we''d call them and our friends!

Ooo good question! - - -

1. Stop crying and spend an hour or so with him, not telling anyone and just enjoying it. Maybe get champagne if time/place allows.
2. Make phone calls: Dad, Mom, his parents, best gf, other 4 best friends, all brothers and sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles
3. Take plenty of ring pics, update facebook and announce on forums
4. Schedule time to check out top venues and church
5. Set a date

Ahh I can''t wait!
25.gif

Fun thread!

1) SAY YES! cry, smooches, hugs
2) Stare at the sparkly
3) Keep staring at the sparkly
4) Have a melt down while staring that the sparkly
5) Call mom, sis, grandparents, friends...have a good cry with them all
6) Whip out the camera, take pics at ALL angles, lighting, backgrounds
7) More lovin for FIANCE (!)
8) Post pics HERE on PS!!! and update Myspace
9) Celebrate the rest of the night
10) I''d probably try on wedding gowns the next day

Don''t need anymore bridal mags. I have about 50 I inherited from my sister and about 50 of my own!

I''m already engaged but D and I:
1) Hugged and kissed
2) We were up on top of a mountain in Barcelona so we walked around and looked at the castle there and took lots of photos
3) Took cablecar back down and went to the port and found a bar
4) Drank a litre jug of sangria
5) Rang my parents
6) Rang his parents
7) More champagne sangria!
8) D proceeded to phone home to everyone in his phone book cos he was so excited-his bill was Huge when we got back!

LOL that everyone's number 1 thing is cry! I totally thought I would too, but it was so quick and I was just too nervous to cry. Yep, nervous. Hahaha.

1. Call my family
2. Enjoy the day/night/weekend
3. Next day call friends (so I can enjoy our day/night/weekend just being engaged)
4. Start looking for photographers to get engagement pics taken, post an announcement in the paper!

I will probably be crying the second I figure out what he's up to... that is pretty much a given! haha

Another great thread! This is what I hope we do:

1) enjoy the moment, hugs, kisses & cry, tell him how much I
30.gif
him & such
2) Open a bottle of champagne & ask him a ton of questions! ("when did you ask my parents? how''d they react? were you nervous? what were the most interesting ideas you came up with for proposal?") then snuggle!
3) after an hour or so of that, call parents and depending on the time, our siblings and my best friend
4) take photos of ring & post on PS
5) Next day: call all the friends and wedding party folk...maybe get together with family/friends to celebrate
6) talk about wedding date and reception locations (already have the church)
12.gif

7) check out gowns!
8) Facebook status change
2.gif

What I did:

1) Crush him with a hug
2) Put on the ring (he had to remind me to do so)
3) Sit out on the dock together for a while and watch the sunset
4) Call our parents
5) Go to dinner at a fabulous steakhouse (lots of great food and a good amount of Veuve Clicquot)

I called my best friends and extended family the next day, and we met up with FI''s parents for brunch. When we returned home a couple days later, I posted on PS. What a fun, exciting whirlwind it was!
