Hi all:

I try to keep my gems individually in little gem boxes. Sometimes they come from the vendor, and sometimes I've bought them.

Where do you buy your boxes? I have bought the little black or white glass topped plastic boxes at Gem Shows (good ones) and off ebay (cheaply made, tops don't really fit and glass falls out). Can anyone recommend a good online vendor for:

1. These small, plastic, glass-topped boxes;

2. Bigger, nicer gem specimen boxes that are probably 2"x2" black, fake leatherish exterior, with a hinged top and a closure device

3. A big, specimen box where I can keep all the little boxes in rows, so rather than go rooting around in my cardboard boxes, I can have the gems neatly arranged. I've seen someone on here who had one I really liked - was it RockHugger?

TIA,

-Minou

Oh man, I knew the name of a company that sells those for very good pricing, but I can't remember. If no one gets back to you on this, email Gene at precisiongem.com. He buys from the company I'm telling you about. You don't have to be a trademember to buy from them. I signed up with their site, and I was able to buy from them. They have tons of jewelry supplies, I just can't remember their name.

In addition to riogrande.com, you can also browse kassoy.com and jemcousa.com - all three of those companies have multiple types of gem boxes and cases for storage. Enjoy!

Thank you all! I should have thought of Rio Grande, and its great to have multiple resources to choose from.

Only the best for my gems :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

I have bought old gem collections that came in a long box with a flip open lid, then there are dividers and then each gem is wrapped in little double paper folded to keep the stone in. Then each is labeled. Can’t see them unless you unfold the paper though. These belonged to jewelers.
