Gene 6mm sapphire & dirty 3.788ct oec

So 2013 is the year I finally set my gems!

The prong work is kind of wonky, but the setting was old and he did the best he could. All I remember about the sapphire is that it's 6mm, cut by Gene, is somewhat included, and I got it at a great price.

My oec is showing off in there as well, but she doesn't seem to realize she's extremely dirty and probably shouldn't be been in these pictures.

Well, ummm, the sapphire is lovely but you really can't put the OEC in the same picture with another ring. It just steals the show!

The sapphire ring is very pretty but. . . poor little thing trying to hold its own with that big honker is a big job!!!!!

Hahah, well I best be shuffling back over to coloured stones, as I was just about to say that I can't tear my eyes away from that delicious sapphire!!!

Should you ever decide that it doesn't fit in with the rest of your stunning collection, I would be more than happy to offer it a new home!

All of that aside, I have a serious crush on your OEC. Just gorgeous!!

I really like the violet-blue of your sapphire, FK. But also, I absolutely love how you paired two yellow gold bands with your platinum (?) solitaire. I've been wanting to reset my bands for a while, and really wanted to do yellow gold, and seeing your set has confirmed it for me. My solitaire is far smaller than yours, but now I know that the yellow gold bands will look great next to my solitaire.

Haha, I shouldn't have taken pics of the two of them together. I was too lazy to take off the oec. My 6mm purple sapphire from Gene is getting set now in a setting w/ two marquise sidestones. I'll' make sure to take pictures of it w/o the oec!

A long time family jeweler in Temple City set the sapphire. But... he has good days and bad days. I've had issues with maybe 40% of things because they weren't seated properly, so I can't in good conscience recommend him. I need to find a good gem setter.

Darn! I was hoping you knew a good bench. I've gone to a jeweler in Pasadena and S. Pasadena for sizing and a re-dipping but not for the complicated stuff. I've had a stone set by SS in San Marino (I'm sure they just sent it downtown) but felt weird as it was a modern RB and they charge a lot. Will Gene set a stone?
