What''s your dream vehicle?
Any ''Cyclers, Boaters or Pilots here?

Describe.
Pics?
Post ''em if you got ''em.

I'm gonna have to come back and add pics...

In my garage:

1 1993 red (totally stripped and repainted so it looks saweet) Mazda MX5 Miata -my baby

1 2002 silver Nissan Xterra SE (Supercharged) -for taking the dogs and going snowboarding!

1 1996 metallic red and white Yamaha Virago 750 (my motorcycle)

1 2000 blue and silver Suzuki Marauder 800 (hubby's motorcycle)

I dream of adding a classic car, either a big-finned american or a Karmann Ghia that I restore myself.

AND... A Globe/Temco Swift to a future hangar space I might own. I'm taking my 4th flying lesson TODAY!!!

-dream vehicle is a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Jaguar any model will do.

AND a Harley V-Rod. Silver. mmmmmmm...

he he... you'd think I was wealthy with MY tastes!

John -thanks for starting this thread. I'm gonna subscribe to it because I'm a total junkie when it comes to vehicles (except boats, not much doin' in a landlocked state, though I used to love sailing).

My dream ride (but polished, not painted)...

Nice house and neighborhood, John

We currently have NO garage (no house yet), but the car we are driving is a 2001 325I, fully loaded (Sport, Premium, Cold Weather Packages).

Dream Car: Depends on which phase of my dream...

Phase 1: Dodeg Viper Venom (Hennessy)
Phase 2: McLaren F-1
Phase 3: Ferarri 612 Scaglietti
Phase 4: Lamborghini Gallardo

And the cars I WILL own, a white Merc SLK convertible, tan leather, fully loaded, and an X5.

Now how do I start my Charity Car Fund?

I've got:

1 2001 silver Toyota Tacoma Xtra cab 5-speed manual
as my long-distance ride, but my current baby is:

1 2001 blue/silver Trek 4100 front-suspension mountain bike!
I'm in the process of converting it to a commuter, so it's got slick tires (Ritchey's Tom Slick) and a rear rack, and my next upgrade will be front and rear fenders with mudflaps and then a stiff front-fork. Maybe then drop handlebars. I really want to get a ready-made commuter or a road bike, but what with my limited graduate student stipend, university fees, car payments, and cat food, I don't think I'll be able to afford a new bike anytime soon.

Here's my dream commuter, Trek's '04 model X500, but it's $1100!!! *Sob!!*

I'll have to wait until I hit the lottery to afford that beautiful baby!!

EDIT: And my next 4-wheel transportation unit will be a gas-electric hybrid!! I'm loving the Toyota Prius right now!! And who doesn't love 47 mpg???

I recently had the Toyota Prius for a month. It's the most unique vehicle, and the MPG was definately around there, even in city driving...

HOWEVER, we were into buying one but we realize several things about the car that convinced us NOT to gt one right now:

1) the car is electric, which as of now, I believe that when in accidents, fireman and emergency services are still training to get passengers out (in front crashes) without shocking themselvs with the electric engine parts.

2) The price for htese cars is currently higher than the sticker value. Even DEALERS are paying over sticker to attain these cars, so there are currently NO rebates, no kick backs, and no discounts to dealers or buyers.

3) government rebates are only available for the first buyer of the vehicle (2005s), and can only be claimed once by the original owner, so any 2004 and under will probably already have the rebate claimed, and will yeild no consumer tax discount.

4) New cars not only sell over sticker cost, but also take anywhere from 3 months to a year and half to order from certain dealers. The car's popularity has increased the price of the vehicle to the extent that it is at an irrational market price. Right now it's priced for the hype.

5) Resale on these cars only has a 3 year history. The 2002 and 2003 models are selling at $16-$19K, but a 2004 sells at $23+, because of the fact that 2004s had significant changes from the first two years. As such, if 2006 vehicles offer any significant changes, the 2004, 2005 car will seriously depreciate over $8-10K from purchase price.

I give these cars another 3-5 years to make changes, and increase their market share, so that you can buy a car from lot, and not only on direct order. By then, hopefully there will be significant changes to safety and body styling, to make the cars more viable for a competitve car market. Also look for the Civic Hybrids and Accords, as well as nw SUV hybrids...

Nicrez - that's great!! Cause by the time I'm a rich and famous scientist (HA!!) and can actually afford a new car, EMT's will know how to get me out without electricuting themselves, prices will be lower, and I can drive one out of my neighborhood dealer! Meaning, when pigs fly, cause scientists don't get rich, and I can afford one, everything about them will be improved!

In the meantime, my Tacoma will do.

This is my car. She is a 1999 Volkwagen Jetta GL. Her name is Jenna, I've had her since April 2003 and I LOVE HER!!!! A Jetta (newer body style) was always the car I always wanted and I had to get the oldest. most base model I could find to afford her, but I LOVE my car!

I don't know if I really have a dream car. A Jetta with more options would be nice (Power windows would be REALLY nice, heated seats and a faster engine would be a bonus!). I'd maybe like to have a Mini some day, or VW is coming out with their "Concept R" sports car convertible.. which is way cute. Other than that, I just always want a car just like mine.

Q… You are quite welcome. Thank you for sharing. Love the photos.

(sentimental sigh) The Mazda RX7 was the first body type I fell for not attached to a girl at my high school. The lines of that car remind me of the best qualities of classic roadsters. Thusly, I found the niche to scratch my itch with Porsche. Like a determined fish swimming upstream, I am angling towards the eventual Carrera myself (circa 2006).

And wow. My eyebrow is raised in Spock-esque fashion (nerd alert) at your new hobby. I have nothing of substance to offer, as I am sans-clue (what is this “Ay-ree-oh-plane” you speak of?

)… However, the luscious Luscombe looks tempting to my virgin aircraft eyes.

Now how ‘bout serving up a photo of the "Yama-Zuki twins"?

'98 Buick Century - kid's ride
'98 Dodge Ram - my daily driver
'02 Vette - wife's ride
'86 Pontiac Fiero - Project car with the kid - it's on stands right now

'65 Chevy stepside - In the barn - restoration starts in the spring

'98 Honda Shadow - wife's bike
'02 Yamaha Road Star Silverado - mine
'49 Indian Scout - on the stand as we speak - should be done by spring

Plus, I'll be getting my instrument rating in the spring and have access to my dad's Beech Musketeer..

I'll see if I can dig out some pics, but I'm afraid I'll kill the thread with them.. ----------------

Steve - are you kidding?

Please post!

It sounds like you and Q will soon provide PriceScope with air superiority

We are not really "car" people so:

'96 Toyota Tacoma Truck (websailor's)
'03 Toyota Camry
'69 Jaguar XKE 2+2 (websailor's)

J24 sailboat stored at the Alameda Marina (websailor tells me this is a racing boat as opposed to a cruiser?)

Before websailor moved in, I had a Toyota Supra Turbo (from my ex-husband which I have since sold). When websailor moved in, he wanted to bring 3 cars with him. Since I only had a 3 car garage, I made him sell his '67 Austin Healy Sprite.

Yep... we're a beemer household it appears!

We're pretty happy with what we've got. However, I think the DH has his eye on the new Maserati Quatropole (sp?) when it finally comes out -- saw at auto show last Dec., but still not yet avail. When my eldest starts driving in 3 years, I will give him the X5 and get a Porsche 911 Carrera.

Boy, I wish my hubby liked this site, because he would love to talk about cars...not diamonds (we're done on that topic!)...anyhow here's his other love of his life in the garage his 2002 Mercedes S-55 AMG, his "other" car is a 2004 Range Rover for winter driving, and mine currently is 2004 Mercedes E-500 4-matic. We both really have a weakness for wheels, and fine wine too! (Well, ok diamonds are my weakness

Real world next car...
Dont really matter what it is as long as it gets me
from point A to point B every day.

i love classic muscle cars from the 60's to early 70's. i had a couple of these '70 camaro RS Z28. talk about horse power, it came with a 350 CID and 360 HP engine. even the exhaust smells different with those high octane gas. the green one is an automatic with 58k miles. the copper color one is a 4 speed. it has 9,800 original miles on it. it's been on a couple magazine articles. i sold it too cheap to a gentlemen from new york who flew in to california for a couple hours just to see the car and he bought it on the spot.

in the garage:
'04 VW R32, slightly modded
'01 Audi S4, heavily modded

dream cars:
E46 M3
911 GT2

In my 3 car garage, (spent our money on our 5800 sq ft house and college for kids) is a '98 minivan and a '96 compact. Cars aren't that big of a deal right now. Our new house is beautiful and our children are in college. Dream cars come in a few years once our kids are done with college. Our children are always our first priority. Cars are just transportation.

We also own two Honda's for our kids to drive. Insurance is very high.

Dream cars, BMW Z4 for my husband and a BMW SUV, or a Jaguar x type for me. Down the pike when we have the extra cash again. Two in college at the same time more than cost as much as two luxury cars.
