Hi all,

I had originally posted on the show me the bling hoping to get inspiration for design on a gents diamond necklace. Follow original thread:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/gents-diamond-necklace.180122/#post-3272981#p3272981

Here is a brief of it.

I am toying with the idea of a gents/mens diamond necklace. I love the asscher cut maybe 1 ct and not in a cross/ skulls/ dogtags....i like bling but not the bling of round or princess.....so i am looking for inspiration.....Google pics havent been inspiring.

anyone out there have pics/ ideas.

I have come to the idea of the asscher as a pendant. since i am not that much into bling the white. yellow gold is out and then the necklace material as neoprene. Someone suggest black gold, which i have not heard about and will do some research on that. They also suggested to post on Rocky talk here to see what you guys thought.

These are my questions:
1) the necklace material itself - what would suit
2) would this kinda gents diamond necklace look too much of a 13 yo bubble necklace
3) the setting - i am thinking that the bezel setting is going to be the best.
3) the diamond- i have grown to love the asscher- have been a princess kinda guy as i have princess cut diamond studs and no, i am not going to change them as they are just perfect on my ears. (they are 1/2 ct each). What kind of clarity / colour etc woudl you suggest for my necklace?

This is going to be a 3-5 yr project as to save for 1ct is going to take some time!!!! :Up_to_something:

I would wear this hanging around my neck but instead of a metal chain I'd use black leather.

Do you have a pic of it on your neck to give me an idea?
I may have to resort to buying a CZ and put it on leather to see how it looks.

BTW- i had posted about your rings recently, as i am only new to PS. Your post woudl have been about 2-3yrs old. i have been looking a gent diamond rings as well. i googled it and then this tension ring popped out of the screen and i had to look some more. It then brought me to PS! yay to that!!! Then i saw your rings which were similar to the one that i originally jaw dropped at. I LOVE the Asscher as you know and love your tension ring. I am working towards increasing my diamond collection!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

hope to see a pic of your necklace on you....

thanx

Thank you.

I'm sorry, my post was misleading.
I do not have such a necklace.

I meant to say, and I did edit, that I would wear such a necklace.

ok.. it was all with the timing of the posts. we missed each other by a few minutes... so byt he time you reedited it, i had already post my reply.

Not a problem...

I think most diamonds would tend to look dainty on a guy, unless you've got big bucks to spend. That's why I would set the asscher in something larger, say a have it centered in the top half of a dogtag-shaped pendant in a black metal.

Have you checked out etsy.com? There are a lot of crafts people there selling jewelry you wouldn't find at the local mall. You might find some inspiration there:

you could go to a bead store and get a tube/barrel to try on a leather/silk to see what you think. it wouldn't be much $ and you'd know how you wanted to procede. then have something made that works for you with a diamond.

Hi @gregchang35, I’m new here and it’s nice to see another guy who loves diamonds as much as me!!

Here is my diamond necklace that I designed a few years ago. Below is also RB Ring also. I saw your asscher in another post. Do you have any specs on it? Asscher is going to be my next project. Would love to see some of your other pieces. Seems we have similar taste!

Best,

Keith

@Menlikediamondstoo
Hi there...
The specs on my (generic) Asscher (square cut corner emerald cut) solitaire = 1ct Ecolour VVS2.
5.52x5.36x3.77 Depth is about 70%. which is a little too deep for 1ct asscher. i bought this stone before i knew more about asschers. So, research as much as you can.
Remember that (generic) asschers will always appear smaller than a round due to the cut of the diamond. The steps need depth, so to speak.

If you like MRB, then i would recommend looking at Octavias which have a combination of the steps and MRB sparkle. I prefer the (generic) asschers.

I would recommend reaching out to vendors who specialises in Asschers: GOG used to be with Jonathan at the helm. I think JA is good too. Both bendors will supply ASETs, to show you how these stones will perform. Alternatively, put a post/ thread about what you would like, and other posters like @Jimmianne and i think, i could be wrong, @likesparklythings or similar poster, will be great at helping you find what you want.

I hope that helps. :-)

As for my other pieces, there are a few... I think if you click on my avatar and search for my threads, you will see a few of them :-)

Awesome. Thank you! When I graduated college I “treated” myself to a 2 carat asscher as they are my favorite diamond. I bezel set it which shut of all sources of light! I then then sold it right after and somewhat regret it today. My RB defiantly gives off the light show and I now have much more appreciation of step cuts. I guess I am going through a step cut phase because I found this ring below with an EC that I also love. I was thinking I could make this ring with an EC that looks very asscher or maybe an Asscher itself.

I agree with you about the Octavia. I love it in a photo, but the table is sooo high and there is something sooo special about the traditional square step cut asscher.

I love that bracelet with the blue diamond! I never thought about putting diamonds in an Id bracelet. Genius.
