Hee hee hee hee hee!!

I giggle incessantly when I''m excited or nervous...sorry.

Ok, I feel kind of goofy having this be my first thread, but I can''t share with my two closest girl friends because they are both fighting with their SOs and I didn''t want to make anyone feel bad...

So tonight BF and I were driving to the grocery store and we started talking about our tax returns. So I innocently asked what he thought he''d end up spending his on. His answer, "Well, I thought I''d put half of it towards your "bling fund" and a quarter of it will go to savings and another quarter will go to my checking."

Say WHAT?!

So then I asked him if that would complete the "bling fund" goal (Which is 700-800 or so because I want blue topaz). And he said that it might, but that it didn''t really matter because he wasn''t ready to propose yet.

(Which I knew already, I''m not ready either.)

So I asked how long he wanted to be engaged for, and he said that he thought that we had talked about a year or so and asked me to repeat what I had said whenever I had said it. So I told him that I figured I would want to be engaged for a minimum of a year and a maximum of two years. He said that sounded reasonable and I asked him if he had any idea when he wanted to get married- meaning what season because of school. He said "I don''t care."

So I said that I preferred to get married in either fall or winter. And he starts naming months that he doesn''t want to get married, May, August, December because of finals and whatnot. But then he busts out with, "February would be nice, because we could get married in February and spring break is always in March, so we could go on our honeymoon over spring break."

EH?!

I didn''t know he had thought about this as much as he showed tonight. Sometimes he still really surprises me. So then I told him that February would be a good month to get married because most of the general public wants to get married April-September and so vendors give a lot of discounts during the down months. He seemed to find that semi-interesting. Then he went on to say that September or October wouldn''t be bad if we wanted to get married outside because it''s starting to cool down then (we''re in NM), and started rambling off the pros and cons of certain months, and by then my head was spinning. I don''t remember much else except running around the grocery store gathering ingredients for dinner.

I should also probably mention that I''ve been getting info out of him about what kind of wedding dresses he doesn''t like (no lace, ruffles, "fluffy stuff", he likes the "clean simple look") by making him watch random tv wedding shows. Not like it''ll matter in the end because I''ll get what I want, but it''s kind of fun to gather the info anyway.

He also mentioned that I should go with one of my friends to a jewelry store to make sure that my design is really what I want for my e-ring and that he would go with me, except that he''d rather I go with a friend so that a pushy salesperson doesn''t try to get us to buy anything. Can you tell we''ve gone ring shopping before?

We''ve had the timeline talk, and it basically amounts to: he''s not giving me a timeline because he wants it to be a complete surprise when he does it, and a timeline would give him restrictions. Plus, I try really really hard to ruin all of his surprises for him and myself and this is one thing he''s not going to give me any clues about. However, we''ve decided that we want to get married in NM and before he goes out to get a "real job" which will be when he graduates and gets his PhD in about 09/10. His PhD means that we will have to move for his job- probably out of state. But when we move, and get a house- we''ll be able to get puppies!!!

Yay! Can you tell I''m excited?

Anyway, I''m a little giddy because he''d stopped saving money for the "bling fund" because things got a little tight over the summer, and he spend most of the fall getting it all back together, but then Christmas took it out of him again. So I was really happy to hear that it would be getting a decent donation whenever his tax returns come in.

Makes me happy.

Freke! This is so awesome.

That first breakthrough, when you realize that you are starting to be on the same page, and the ball is rolling... that is the best feeling.

Enjoy the moment. And yay, puppies!

Those moments are the BEST!!! It''s a surreal, ''is this actually happening?!'' kinda feeling for me. Love it! Congrats!

That''s super exciting--congratulations!
