What are you planning on (or have given) your parents as a gift before your wedding?

Here''s what we were thinking of getting my parents (who have taken on the majority of the wedding costs): a GC to a B & B or other hotel on the coast OR a GC to an upscale restaurant. I had originally thought of getting an album made for them but I''m not sure they''d want one, to be honest. I want to make sure that I get them something really nice but I have no idea what our budget is at this point.

Also, do you think it would be okay if this gift served double-duty (to be given as a Christmas gift as well)? I''m planning on doing this for my sister, but I don''t want to come across as "cheap."

As for my FI''s parents, they might appreciate an album, so that''s something we may consider for them. We''re not sure about that yet.

What are you ladies thinking of doing for your parents?

We did individual gifts to each parent instead of a "couple gift". I wanted to give them something to keep to remember the wedding and managed to find specific gifts that were perfect for each. Not an easy task, but better than a silver plated monogrammed anything.

For my mom, who collects art glass, I found a glass sculpture that looked like a blue hydrangea, my chief wedding flower. She''s still swooning over it. It was $100 at a little gallery in West Virginia. It was the most expensive gift but she was the most involved.

For my dad, I got him a handmade wooden clock made out of layers of different colored woods... he''s into art and wood, and it goes on his desk. He loves it. I think it cost $40 at another little gallery in West Virginia.

For his mom, I commissioned a bracelet made out of the P word (my birthstone) with a clasp of aquamarine (her birthstone) on Etsy. She LOVED it and even wore it to the wedding. And it was only $45.

We''ll also give them albums eventually but we don''t have those yet.

I can''t remember when your wedding is, but I wouldn''t really combine it with Christmas unless you have to because it was kind of fun to present them at the Rehearsal Dinner when we thanked everyone for all they had done.
