Hi all, just got my ring this weekend, super excited! However, I checked under my microscope at 400x and there is no inscription on the girdle as per the diamond report from whiteflash. I don’t think it’s under the prong either because the prong is not that wide and the writing should be partially visible if it’s there. I’m worried this isn’t the right stone. Thoughts?

There was recently a thread discussing finding a girdle inscription and it was mentioned that a lower magnification may make it easier to find. I believe 14x-20x was said to be easiest to find it with.

Thank you for your reply. I can’t do 20x but the lowest my scope can go is 32x. I can’t find any either under 32x or 64x.

If the stone has inclusions, maybe you can match them to the certificate using your scope.

Also if it helps ease your mind, I had Whiteflash ACA earrings professionally appraised and the appraiser also could not find the inscription on one of them (stones were set, not loose). He said it was not uncommon to sometimes be unable to see the inscription on a stone that is set.

I can’t find inclusions under the scope very easily. My previous post showed the stone j ended up buying and we were all wondering as it looks pretty clean for an SI1, so I am unable to verify if this is my stone without the inscription :(

Do you have digital calipers? If so, is it possible to measure the stone to compare the size with what is on your report? Not suggesting this as a definitive determination--just as another way to begin to see if this is or is not your stone?

Get it appraised by an independent expert. You should probably do this anyway. Finding and matching the girdle inscription will be one of the things they do.

Complain to the seller. See what they have to say.

Found the inscription after adjusting the lighting to an orange light under 128x. It’s tiny and color less so it’s very hard to see!
I did find a strand of hair firmly pinched in two of the prongs. Tried to remove it, no luck. Almost seems like it was in there when they set the diamond ? It could be mine too. Is there anything I can do to remove it?

well, I can't help with the hair but I'm glad you found the inscription and yes, they are tiny.
