I have all this "babbling" going on in my head - so I thought I might as well get some of it out by posting about it. For starters, we are going through my boss'' wife to get the ring. I''m relatively close to her and trust her dearly - not to mention I''ve researched the heck out of diamonds before ever approaching her. Her business partner is a jeweler (by appointment only - no B&M - kind of like Wink, I think) in NY city. I did my research, BF and I went looking at jewelry stores for settings, etc. and got an idea of what we both like and what looks good on my size 3.5 finger. Then, BF gets together with her, he brings pics of some stuff he''s picked out, she shows him examples of some other options and listens to what he has in mind. She calls her partner and fills him in - he starts pulling stones that fit the specs, etc. Then he finds one that he and she both think is "it". He wants BF to get the effect of the "total package", so according to what BF has described as desired setting - jeweler makes one from a mold he already had, and sets "the stone" in the setting. Let me just tell you that my BF is very picky and has really great taste. The jeweler sends "the ring" along with other loose stones (all GIA certs) for my BF to look at. Midday yesterday, I get a call from BF. He told me she brought all of them by and he sounded literally "blown away". The setting was "exactly" what he had in his head. He was absolutely floored, since we looked at tons of settings in various B&Ms, yet not one gave him the "that''s it" feeling. So, after looking at the stones he selected "the one" that was already set in the ring. So, now, he said she is sending it back to have it properly sized (turns out the jewler didn''t quite believe her that I was an actual size 3.5 and didn''t quite expect my BF to give a go on the setting (very picky, great taste). So, now, I''m making myself crazy - how long does the shipping take? How long does the sizing take? What does it look like (I know it is a 3 stone, Tacori-esque setting)? How will it look on my finger? WHEN will it be on my finger? I just need to relax, but I''m so excited! One good thing though, I know once it is in his hands, he won''t be able to keep it to himself - he couldn''t keep a secret if it would save his life. He did say the proposal will be "casual". Whatevs, as long as its soon!
