What are the must sees, where to stay (i REALLY wanna get one of those little Air Conditioned Cottages right on the beach) and where are the best jewelers?

We are looking to go to Maui but as long as there''s lots to do wherever it is we go, I am happy.

I know that my dad just got my mom some really pretty earrings from whatever hawaii''s best jeweler is but I couldn''t tell you the name of it or where it is.

Hahaha, you are a total pricescope nut.

I think I''m going to Hawaii too, but I''m trying to figure out tourist attractions, not jewelry stores.

I think I''m gonna end up on the NCL cruise.

Things I recall enjoying about Maui were:

snorkeling at the Molokini crater (you have to book a charter boat to get there)

Book a tour company to take you to the top of Haleakala (at sunrise) and bike down the mountain

Take your rental car and drive the road to Hana (a lot of traffic and hairpin turns, but the scenery is amazing)

We''re going to Kauai late June and I would love to hear advice on that island too.

pearcrazy, we got married last year on Kauai and LOVE the island.

we are hoping to visit again this year and maybe spend a few days on Maui as well just for comparison...

Kauai is our favorite so far, it''s very quiet and peaceful and very lush and untouched. We prefer to stay in cottages on the beach vs a big hotel, so we go to the west end in Waimea and stay at the Waimea Plantation Cottages. We shop at the local supermarket and make coffee every morning in our small kitchen...then head up to a few towns over and have breakfast at Grinds, a great local haunt. Lots of great restaurants, you can do all sorts of tourist fun stuff, we love the ATV riding and have gone twice already...next time maybe we will do a sailing tour. We also did the Luau which is a touristy funny must, visited Poipu which is a popular upscale location...drove over to Hanalei on the other side of the island (~1 hour) which is another slightly upscale location but more ''surfery'' than Poipu which is more resort like....ahhhh I could go on for days! We love Kauai!

Yea Iwant to stay in a beachfront cottage but I dont ride bikes. And I think the insurance company thanks me.

Ryan has done that though and it nearly cost him his life so we won''t be biking anywhere. ;)

Just wanted to post what happened to my sister and her huband when they honeymooned in Hawaii a couple of years ago---

They took their rental car on the road to Hana. They started driving back before dusk as they wanted to be sure to get back to their hotel before dark. As they were driving an old pick up truck came out of nowhere and was following them -- right on their back bumper as they were driving. There were two men in the truck and they started throwing bottles and cans at their car (they had a convertible). My brother in law started driving faster but these guys were literally right on their tail. The truck bumped them a couple of times in an attempt to get them to swerve or go off the road. Finally when they were close to the main street the truck disappeared. Of course they (especially my sister) were scared out to death. They went right to the police station to report what happened as there was some damage to the back bumper of their car. The officer said that they have had several incidents like that where the "locals" have bumped tourist cars, gotten the people to stop, then robbed them at gunpoint. The incidents are kept out of the press because they don''t want to scare the tourists (who obviously bring in a lot of money to the area.) The police also said there are some areas of Hawaii (like everywhere else) that you don''t want to be going to at night by yourself b/c as a tourist you stick out like a sore thumb.

Don''t mean to put a damper on your plans, just want you to be aware of what happened to them.
