which jewelers do you guys recommend that can help do some modification on my pave engagment ring and also have good inventory on thin pave bands..i know leon mege does mostly custom work, and wont meet unless you are interested and are going to order. But i need to look around before i can do that.. How is the diamond district and is that open to the public?

Keep your wallet at HOME. Can't tell you how many posters have gone to the diamond district been offered the deal of 'a lifetime' then come on here asking how to dispute a CC charge for a ring they got snowed on. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING CASH from anywhere but the two stores I am listing below (and Leon, or James Allen... both are by appointment only in NY).

My advice? Make a nice long appointment with Engagement Rings Direct in the Diamond District. Go there FIRST (NO BROWSING!) and have them walk you through diamond education, viewing different stone of different cuts and colors under different lighting conditions... talk about settings and pave and everything else since that's why you are there. Then the next day take a trip out to Long Island to visit Good Old Gold. Make an appointment. Spend some time there see what they have to show you.

After you have been to GOG and ERD. THEN browse (leave wallet at home).

Take a day off. Think about what you have seen and heard. Call both jewelers. Thank them for their time, ask any follow up questions.

THEN make a decision about what you want... call and see if Leon has an appointment. And go pop in to see him as well.

Think about it ALL (you will be bombarded with information). Then make your choice. And when you have your ring as you want it. Please come back and share pics, stories, experiences, thoughts and whatever strikes you with us.

Have fun!

It doesn't sound like you are looking for a stone, you already have a stone?

I would suggest going to the Michael C. Fina store to browse. Also, ID Jewelry / Yekutiel has some really well priced pave bands and he's very nice as well. He's in the diamond district.

TOTALLY agree with Gypsy on leaving the wallet at home!

Thritto...I'm one of those sad cases who ended up with a major problem, even after visiting Leon, ERD and Eternity Diamonds. DO NOT give your money to any unknown vendor, no matter how nice they seem. They will be nice until there are problems.

Please heed Gypsy's advice and come back with a great story and a lovely new setting to share with us!

hi yenny...how was your experience dealing with Eternity Diamond? My GF is absolutely in love with a setting from there that we got as a replica so im 99.9% that im getting the ring from there...just wondered about your experience with them....Yoni smeed to be quite helpful in my emails to him...

Yoni is terrific. I did not end up purchasing a stone/setting from him (I wish I had!), but he was extremely helpful, his prices were terrific and their "try it before you buy it" program can't be beat.
