I purchased a beautiful 1ct platinum James Allen pave diamond band. My end goal is to stack it, with matching rose gold version. Ideally, I'd like to stack 3 bands - two being white metal while the middle one would be rose gold. Is having rose gold flanked by platinum okay? Or should all three rings be gold instead of two being platinum? Here is the ring. Thoughts?

Thanks, I love mixed stacks also but my question is the type of metals next to each other. Should all 3 rings be gold (two white and one rose) or is it okay to have platinum next to rose gold in regards to safety, damage, etc. Basically, is it a bad idea to have platinum and rose gold rubbing against each other? Or should all the rings be gold?

I wear yellow and Platinum together often. I have never had any problems. However, I know some people do not like to mix gold with platinum.

From what I’ve learned here, platinum rings will wear away gold rings over time.

I too have read here that platinum will eventually wear out gold. However, that hasn't stopped me from stacking gold and platinum rings, and I haven't seen any additional wear so far.

Thanks! I purchased a platinum pave 11 stone 1ct band from JA, and want to add rose gold stackers to each side at some point.

One other question - the stone in the above band are .09ct each, and I saw another pave band that I like that is also 1ct but has nine stones so those are .11 each. Would this be a noticeable difference in such small stones, or should I not consider this one?

If it's returnable, why not just get it and see if it works? My guess is you'll be able to tell the difference.

I wear 2 platinum bands framing a 14kt rose gold solitaire. I have had no issues. FYI 14kt rose gold is supposedly more durable than a higher karat gold.

I've also heard that one metal will scratch the other, but I've never heard how long it would take to actually cause any significant damage. I wear a 14k yellow gold wedding band with different platinum diamonds bands, and love the look.

If each of your three bands is going to have diamonds on them, just make sure the girdles of the diamonds do not extend beyond the sides of the band, so they don't chew/chip each other up as you wear them.

I looooove the look of mixed metal rings. I think they look cool and “undone” like red lipstick with no other makeup vibe, like I just woke up like this chic. Here are some photos of mixed metal I stashed away. I know it’s not what you’re aiming for but I can imagine rose gold IMG_7964.png
