I was just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them....If you have then I''m sure you know how heartbreaking it is....

Thursday evening I had to run like a crazy lady to run down the FedEx guy before he pulled out of the parking lot so that I could overnight a package for a client...well, to make a long story short...I believe that my diamond and sapphire ring flew off my hand in the parking lot in the middle of my panic. I''m afraid it''s gone forever. I''ve turned this house upside down and even dug through every trash can in the house. It was my second most favorite ring in my collection...my ering being my first. I guess on the bright side it wasn''t my ering. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

This is what it looked like:

Not the best picture that I could have taken of it...I''d take a better one..but..well....you know....

Oh yes! I have a small ring size and love large, artsy pieces... so sooner or later they either "fly away" or get sized. I would rather not mention how many fashion rings flied away never to be seen again

aww, I am really sorry to hear that

well, I''ve never had any jewelry to lose, but in the 6 months I''ve been with my gf, she has lost two rings and a diamond tennis bracelet

I think I may have to tape/glue/staple/weld the e-ring to her finger!!!

Oh no, D4M!!! I love that ring! I had one very similar to it that I posted here but my sapphires were too dark so I ended up just salvaging the diamonds out of it. But I still miss it and I can feel your pain. Too bad. Was it insured? Can you replace it?

HI:

So sorry that you are upset about your ring
face14.gif
.................hope Santa can help.....................

cheers--Sharon

Miss D4M,

I am sorry to hear this. The realization you will not see a treasured item again is like losing a good friend.

Hopefully the holidays will bring you a new friend...

Oh, thank you so much. I feel so angry with myself for being so careless. I'm so sorry to hear that it's happened to you too, Valeria...and Patty..I feel like I'm looking at my rings relative
8.gif
. It would be nice if Santa could help out in that department...Santa liked it too
15.gif
maybe he'll want to see another one like it?? Oh well....

Oh no, DG! That's horrible!! I guess I'd want to figure out how to weld it to her too

I have a bracelet that I wear on my right wrist that is sterling silver and goes with nothing I own but it was the very first thing that he ever gave to me and in the past five...almost six years..that we've been together I've never taken it off once. I love it that much...I don't know what I would do if I ever lost it.

Sadly, I didn't have that ring insured but I did have it appraised and I was constantly telling myself to go get it insured and never did. I'm kicking myself right now.

Even though it was expensive for what it was it was far more valuable to me in a different way. If someone else finds it...and I'm sure they probably already have...I hope that they enjoy it as much as I did. I'd like to think I would get it back but reality tells me that it's near impossible. So, to whoever has found it...I hope they take care of it better than I did. Maybe they deserve it? (Trying to think positively..who knows..maybe it has made someone's holiday...)

Plus I could do some snooping around on whiteflash and find a suitable replacement

D4M, This is a picture that I saved because I love this ring but now I can''t remember where I found it. I''ll look around online to see if I can re-find it for you and see if they have a price listed.

Oh wow, Patty. That does look very much like mine. Mine was a little on the pricey side because the gold was so thick along the sides. The diamonds were E-F si-1''s and the princess cut sapphires...I think the jeweller called them cornflower blue (??) sapphires because they were a very clear medium-blue. I had never seen natural sapphires that clear before..I have no doubt that they were heat treated. It wasn''t that expensive. I know it was mostly because of the gold. It was so heavy because it was solid and not hollowed out under the shank.

Ohhhh...I miss it so much. I keep catching myself looking down to see if maybe I imagined the whole thing.

I even checked my cat''s litter box about fifteen minutes ago..I thought maybe there was still a possibility that I lost it here and she might have thought it was a pretty toy. OK, I''m grasping at straws here..but who can blame me?

Dear D4M,

I actually lost my loose diamond that I was about to have reset. I thought I may have thrown it away accidentally, and my husband had already taken the garbage to the dump. I panicked and cried for several days. Then I put on a fleece sweater, reached in the pocket, and there was my diamond.

Also, a friend of mine had her platinum and diamond ring fly off her hand into a snow bank (at night) by her car at a Seven Eleven. It was snowing so hard and accumilating so fast that she ended up walking down to an electronics store and bought a metal detector. She did not find it, but through her persistance she made good friends with the people that own the Seven Eleven visiting weekly to see if anyone found her ring. It snowed A LOT that year. This happened in Dec and in April she got a call that the people at the Seven Eleven had found her ring!!!

Not all stories have these happy endings, but I sure hope it turns out that way for you. Good luck.

PS I guess I am eternally optimistic!

Without knowing it at the time, I dropped my rings off my lap onto a gravel parking lot about a month after having gotten my new upgrade.
emsmileo.gif
I found the band quickly but not the new e-ring. A group of people set out to look, and I finally found it buried in the gravel. (It was silverish gravel, so it blended right in.) We had actually run over it when we backed out, pushing it into the rocks. It is a heart sinking feeling -- I know what you are going through. I really hope it shows up. You never know! Look, and look again, and spread the word that you are looking.

I''m so sorry you lost your ring.

diamonds,
i am so sorry about your ring..........i hope you find something to fill it''s place.

You all are so nice. It''s so sad to hear that so many of you have had the same experience and I''m glad that it turned out well in that you found them. My h2b is so sweet. He didn''t find it but he told me just a few minutes ago that he had gone out to comb the parking lot at the post office. He left at 6a.m. this morning and didn''t return home until about 8:30am...and here I thought he was going x-mas shopping.
emlove.gif
It really is touching that he would spend all that time searching for it. Still no luck around here. Oh well....Still hoping.

That does look very much like mine
HERE it is ...

Thank you Valeria!! I tried to find it but couldn''t.

Hi,

So sorry to hear about your ring. I have lost a few items of jewellery in the past and it''s a horrible feeling.

Sorry for your lost.

A similar thing happened to me more than 10 years ago. When I first came to Canada in my early teens, my grandmother gave me an antique diamond ring as a parting gift. It was in a platinum setting with intricate carvings (based on my memory). I have no idea where I lost it - I suspect either my baby brother took it or I forgot to retrieve it from the "valuable box" after gym class. I feel especially bad because my mother thought that I was mature enough to keep it.

It''s been so many years but I still feel very bad about it.

But I guess such is life. I hope you eventually find it. But I like your attitude about how it might make someone''s holiday. I often wonder if my ring is making someone feel good too. :)

I am so sorry to read this, D4M.

I have lost a couple very sentimental (and fairly valuable) pieces in my time and it''s a heart-crushing feeling. Like others have pointed out with some really neat stories, you may find it. In the meantime, what I try to do when something like this happens is remind myself that it is just a "thing" and not someone''s health or life. A bit melodramatic, I know, but in the throws of being so upset it does help give you a little bit of your footing back.

Keep us posted.

Valeria! Thank you! I''m seriously considering getting it if I don''t find it within the next few months. I''ll certainly save that into my favorites folder
face23.gif
Still no luck..but as you have said Jennifer..it is just a "thing"...

I have to keep reminding myself of that though, lol. Emeraldgirl, it is a horrible feeling. I''m not prone to losing things like that and it really hit hard when it happened. I''m used to losing pens and the many tubes of chapstick that I buy (lol) but this was just unbelieveable.
Foxglove, that''s terrible! My grandmother has an antique diamond ring that sounds like the one you lost. I am so sorry to hear that it''s gone. I know that it had more personal value than monetary value..I''m sure it wasn''t cheap though.

Thank you all for everything.

Diamonds4me, I''m so sorry to hear of your loss. I know it''s hard to think of this now, but I agree with Jen. In the big picture, it''s something that can hopefully be replaced in the future. Helps to put things in perspective even though you are entitled to grieve over it right now.

Hugs to you.

D4M, even though it is a thing, it has meaning and value... I hope it turns up.
7.gif
But reminding ourselves it could be worse does help us get through stuff.

D4M, this is a true story which I read here on Pricescope. A lady lost (or thought she lost) her ring. She was all bummed and guess what? She found it in her jewelry cleaner. SOmetimes I think I''m sure where I put something, or where I last saw it, and come to find out that wasn''t even the case. Do you think that maybe, just maybe you set it somewhere that you just weren''t used to? I have not lost hope for you.

Good luck and keep searching. Ya never know.

Jennifer, you are absolutely correct. I did tell myself that it could have been worse...I could have lost my ering, broken an arm or leg (knock on wood), or anything. So, I am pretty lucky.

Kmom, that could be very possible that I just put it down somewhere while I was in a mindless state. It was a very stressful day. Chris, my h2b, said that as soon as I stop pining over the ring it would probably show up. So, it''s been tough, but I''ve stopped looking under the telephone, couch/love seat cushions and the resivoire of the christmas tree stand, under the floor mats in my car...
7.gif

I''m not as sad as I was before. Now I just miss it but I''m not laying there at night constantly retracing my steps...pretty sad, huh??

Thank you to all of you for making me feel better.

I have lost rings twice. The first time was when I was 18 years old. I was outside and it flew off my hand when I waving my arm. It was a sapphire and diamond ring. Never did find it.

The second time was earlier this year. I was pretty positive I had lost my amethyst/tanzanite/diamond ring in the house. I had been doing laundry and at the end of the day, when I went to take it off (I always take my rings off a night because my fingers swell) it wasn''t there. I looked all over the house, at my office (just in case), and even in the dresser drawers. I couldn''t find it anywhere even thought I looked for days. I was so upset that my husband told me to go buy myself a new ring to replace it. I went back to the jewelers where I had purchased it because I wanted the same ring. The salesperson insisted that I not purchase the same ring because I would eventually find the missing one. I am glad I listened because about 3 months later my daughter brought me a ring and asked me if it was mine. It was my missing ring! She had found it on the floor under some things when she was cleaning her room.

Fortunately I have never lost my diamond. I don''t know what I would do in that situation.
