yea well....
What do you expect from a party that didnt pass one thing they said they were going to pass.

I would not be surpized if they tried something along those lines.

TRY? As in future tense? Am I the only one with a case of déja vu? This is the Downing Street Memo all over again! That one was saying, "Let's pretend we see weapons of mass destruction"; this one says, "Either the economy can improve or we can see a terrorist attack coming".

I guess we can expect the color coded terror alert to be raised to orange or red soon.

"The closely-guarded memo lays out a list of scenarios to bring the Republican party back from the political brink, including a devastating attack by terrorists that could ''validate'' the President’s war on terror and allow Bush to ''unite the country'' in a ''time of national shock and sorrow.''”

Do you think that strategy would work now that Mr. Bush has had nearly six years in office fighting his war on terror his way? Wouldn''t a major terrorist attack NOW just make him look like a loser and an idiot?

Deb

What I don''t understand is why more people don''t question if iraq was the best place to use our resources in bush''s war on saddam I mean war on terror.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But I'm not so sure. My faith the the basic good sense of the American Public was severely shaken when Bush was NOT swept out of office after his first term...

I found this "scenario" in the above referrenced memo disgusting and chilling too:

A successful resoluton [in Iraq] would be us getting out intact and civil war NOT breaking out until after the midterm elections.

I am sickened by this kind of thinking...

At first I thought.. OMG.. that is sickening... and for one small second.. I began to wavier... just for one small second.. I saw it... well.. just for one small second...

Then I thought.. Hmmm. confidental.. closely gaurded memo eh? Well... I wonder how someone is able to report on a closely gaurded memo.. hmmm. Maybe I should check out what www.capitalbluehill.com was before I belevied anything about the ''confidential closely gaurded memo.''

So I did... then I saw... the first line of the article page.."Burn in Hell, Mr. President"

Then I realized that for a second.. when I thought that I saw something sickening.. it was really only the crap that had splashed in my eye!

Clowntime is over. The jig''s up. This is perfectly in character for the cabal that declared in regard to the selling of the Iraq war:

"You don''t roll out a new product in August." (Andrew Card to the NY Times, 2002)

But hope springs eternal. Strmrdr understands what the meaning of responsibility is and has decided BushCo. is lacking. I applaud you.

And Mine!!, the very fact that you briefly teetered on the totter towards empericism rather than blind faith gives additional hope. Feel free to jump in. The water over here is both cleansing and liberating.

You''ll have plenty of company. In the latest USA Today poll, an ever-increasing majority of Americans are saying enough is enough. BushCo. is like a tumor. Time we cut it out.

In this age of cut-and-paste digital info I''m surprised this memo in its entirety is not available.

LOL.. NO thanks Richard. I hate veggie burgers, I am not a tree hugger.. I think that a child doesn''t choose to be concieved so therefore it should not be murdered and reperations do nothing for me.. Think I will stay here. I am offended by your ''blind faith'' comment but oh well, I have never done anything other beleive in God with my faith, I have no faith in anyone or anything, but I also do not see something and say it is always bad just cause my cliche may agree...

Blind faith is a two way street.

Mine,

Now that the government has admitted to using white phosphorous as a weapon, what is your position? The lack of credibility in the source issue (which I understood) has now been resolved by the government''s admission.

just for the record, Capitol Hill Blue equally takes both republicans and democrats to task. in case Mine or anyone else would like to know more about this group, please read this:

''Capitol Hill Blue was born during the Clinton administration and covered much of that President’s disregard for the truth. ''

'' I don’t like liars. I don’t like elected leaders who deceive the country they have sworn to serve. I’ve found in more than 40 years of journalism that most elected officials are dishonest and put their own political interests above what is best for the nation. It doesn’t matter if they are Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal, left-wing or right-wing.''

''And I don’t care much for partisans who claim to be journalists while publishing under a political party banner. Truth is non-partisan. It doesn’t’ subscribe to a particular political philosophy. And truth is not served by an alternative media that looks at things from a partisan political slant. A Robert Novak who writes that all things Democratic are bad is no different from a William Rivers Pitt who claims the same things about Republicans.''

''Journalism is best served by those who follow the story wherever it leads and don’t let political or philosophical bias sway their course. That’s something that those who write from a partisan point of view, and too many of those who teach journalism, can’t possibly comprehend but those of us who actually practice the craft understand. I’ve been doing it that way for more than 40 years and I expect to be doing it for 40 more. There will be other Presidents and elected officials, Democrat and Republican, who will face the same scrutiny from Capitol Hill Blue. I approach all elected officials with equal skepticism because I''m a journalist and that''s what real journalists do. Unfortunately, my skepticism is all too often rewarded with yet another story of yet another politician abusing the public trust.''
